Are 20' Volk Gtc's Are Too Big For A R33 Gtr?
KR4-GTR replied to KR4-GTR's topic in General Maintenance
Sure have! But yeah - looking back, i think 20's may have been just a bit too big. I ended up looking at 19's in gunmetal - and they would have suited great, wanted it to look similar to the KR4 one in QLD with the plates TOP RPM. But its new owner has similar tastes, he said he loved the look of the GTC's so wouldnt be suprised if the car ends up wearing those shoes in the near future anyway! It will be off the road for 2 months having a bit of work done - so who knows what magic we'll see happen! -
Hi all, Can someone please confirm if the side skirts and the rear pod bits on the car in the picture are a nismo body kit? If so, does anyone know how much they are worth new? And how much they have roughly been selling for when used / second hand? Any info is much appreciated. Cheers!

spotted a chick in a silver series 1 33 gtst - white rims and a kaki exhaust at precisely 1:34pm on showground road. I know that was exactly the time because I should have been at work already by then. I miss my GTR haha

Buying An R34 Gtr - Your Advice And Thoughts Needed!
KR4-GTR replied to KR4-GTR's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks for the info guys, thats a great start and heaps of help! I will be looking at quite a few examples - i promise! it took me 3 years to find my old gtr, i'm a pretty fussy person - especially when it comes to my cars. With the market how it is at present, its great to be the buyer - as you have quite a few to choose from, however on the flip side - it does suck to be selling. Cheers again! -
Buying An R34 Gtr - Your Advice And Thoughts Needed!
KR4-GTR replied to KR4-GTR's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Lol i've never heard of 'rick shaw' either! Has anyone else!? -
Hey guys and girls, I have recently started shopping for an R34 GTR. I was originally looking for a close to stock example, however I have been offered one which 1 year ago, apparently had a complete engine rebuild with forged pistons, racing valve springs - etc. Anyway, the owner has not been able to provide me any specifics as to what was actually done as they 'do not know much about cars' and no receipts (as of yet) are available for the work done, just that someone called 'rick shaw' (anyone heard of him / them?) did the rebuild because the owner had further plans for the car - power wise. However, my worry is - for all I know the car could have had a blown engine? or maybe none of the work was done at all and the internals are still stock? or maybe if work was done - it wasnt done properly? As with any used car, I'd have to get it checked thoroughly before purchasing. But is it even worth the risk!? What are your thoughts / advice in regards to this? Is this a car you would just potentially walk away from buying? Has anyone here been in the same boat or had any similar experiences? If so, please share your thoughts and advice! I'm a complete n00b when it comes to R34 GTR's in general. I previously had an R33 GTR and have spent most of my life obsessed with them - so I knew my car inside out, i could pull stuff apart, knew what to expect with wear and tear, costs involved - etc without too much worrying. But is there anything in general (especially given the age of the cars now) that I should look out for with the R34 GTR? Cheers! Chris.

When your old enough, get yourself a close to stock GTR which has been treated well, serviced regularly - etc, and chances are you'll have very little to no issues with it. I bought mine close to 3 years ago and touch wood - have had nothing go wrong. The only expenses are the standard services and also the modifications I have chosen to add and i'm only selling to get yet another GTR. That being said, i've always babied it and its never been taken to the track or strip. If you at this present date and time - go spending 17k on a R33 GTR - be 100% aware that the probability of you having to dump an extra 10 - 15k in to it in the near future is very likely.

Just Got A Gtr R32, Have Had V8's All My Life
KR4-GTR replied to den15b's topic in Introduce yourself
Hey Denis, Cheers for the kind words! To answer your question, i'm not sure how i'll manage. Probably poorly, until the next project comes along! haha Thanks for the pics - your car looks like a whole lot of fun! Yeah, a spotting is due! I'm not far away from Bella Vista and run through there quite a bit. In regards to the pods, I used to have HKS ones on my car - they sounded unbelievable but didnt filter as well as Apexis or look too attractive - they were big green mushroom ones. I now have apexi ones on there aswell. They dont suck as loud but you hear more spool and they look sexy. I'd stick to the Apexi filters if I were you as they apparently filter the best. Either way, i wouldnt expect an increase in power with them. If your going to go to Hills Motorsports (which is probably easiest for you as your a local!) speak to either Mark or James and say Chris with the Silver R33 GTR recommended you. They're both top guys and will definately look after you. -
2 quick happy snaps from yesterday -

Water and compressor is the way to go if you want to do it fast. Done using the methods described above - you'll be as sweet as pie. But if your really anal like me, just get a bucket, water, sponge, rags, polish and a toothbrush - then start scrubbin! I had the same problem with the dust! 5+ hours later with the above, mine was as good as new. haha

Heres a quick happy snap of my R33 GTR interior. I like to keep things as original as possible

Just Got A Gtr R32, Have Had V8's All My Life
KR4-GTR replied to den15b's topic in Introduce yourself
Welcome to the family! Sounds like a great project! Got any pics of the sexy old girl? Would love to see a few. For rims, i'd go 18's. Its the happy medium between looks and performance. On a side note - yeah, its true - holdens are catching up, but it only took them around 12 years! -
Hey mate, I'm negotiable - but your just a LITTLE bit off what i'd settle for. Keep an eye on the carsales ad for a temporary price drop just for a bit of fun and to further test the waters. The vspec II that i was after has since sold, so my rush to sell has once again pretty much slipped away. As above i've given her a polish and I also spent another 4 hours cleaning the engine bay today - so im once again pretty much in love. Cheers!

spotted a black stagea at rouse hill maccas and also a gunmetal r32 on old windsor road - both yesterday afternoon around 3:30pm - 4:00pm
