Mysterious Pfc Missfire In An R32 Gtr
KR4-GTR replied to itbmils's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hi mate, well done on fixing the fault! would you happen to have pics or diagrams of the fix!? please let me know. cheers! -
Spotted a gunmetal grey r32 at rouse hill shops today - in the outside car park. I actually parked next to it for a few minutes while i bought some food. should have taken a pic!
-
I was recently considering buying the black r34 gtr with the vspec2 plates - but decided to scrap the whole idea and keep my current ride instead! K's on that one from memory are a bit high compared to others i was looking at, but may have a better chance of being legit? Other than that - seems a good buy!?
-
^ well said. hahahah

Good point, sorry Blitz! I always get carried away.. - I shall stay silent!

When the engine was under load or high boost - it would miss some times, but im presuming it would have been fixed by now anyway as this was a while ago - so great news if you havent experienced it! Just keep an eye on it when you put the cover back on. Yes - the stalling problem (in the period i knew one of the previous owners) was always a small problem with the car. The AFM's were already changed - etc but it was still happening, so did not appear to be the cause of the issue - which is weird! Anyway, id suggest to start at bare basics and check the AFM's again - get it hooked up to a comp and check both. If either one (or both) is faulty, then just replace it. Hopefully this is it as its only a few hundred bucks for a new one. It wouldnt hurt to replace them both to ensure the other wont give up and cause you more issues shortly after. Its normal wear and tear, I replaced both of mine with R34 GTR ones when I bought the car and have had no faults since (touch wood!) - so its highly recommended. The brother of the owner who put it into national car connections is on the forum - I actually asked him if the stalling problem was still evident in this thread - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ca...tr-t270342.html - page 2, his user name is sir_rb. He said it never had stalling problems in the time his brother had it - so it could be a fresh fault just with similar symptoms. Hope you get it sorted soon! Stuff like this sucks, sometimes its like an expensive easter egg hunt trying to find the fault. And if you need help - make a thread! We're all here on the forum to help, welcome to the skyline family!

Hey mate, Yeah its been a while, but there are more interesting threads up on SAU! My current thoughts are to do the smart thing - keep the car, skip the 34 GTR and just dump cash into a big fat clarendon somewhere around the hills district instead. When shopping for a house, the last thing i need is to be just that little bit too short because i jumped into another indulgement of a car! (And if you think im fussy with my car, you should come house shopping with me.. i'm even worse in that space haha) Anyway, back on topic - i havent changed my sig and i'm still taking expressions of interest seriously. And in regards to negotiable - Yes, i am. However, i've already turned down 3 on the spot offers around the $31,500 mark and a trade of a pretty hot R34 GTR + a bit of cash (his way), so you can use both of those as a bearing. Keep it cool, and what are you doing up - it must be only 4:30am in perth!? I hope you arent loosing sleep over my car! haha

Still having fun searching!
-
Good luck on the big day!
-
Please dont encourage this sort of behaviour.

Heres a little something to sway you guys just that little bit further in my direction.. hahah

Oh and i hope your enjoying the new car! Goes great yeah!?

Hey David, Nice to see you again active on the forums! I actually used to have a few spares of the screws in question laying around in the shed somewhere - if i can dig them up you can just have them. Anyway, they are pretty generic so any mechanic should be able to give you a hand. If we are talking about the car im thinking of, the engine kept missing under high load so the valley cover was removed to keep things cool and also so when it did happen it was easy to test which coil was playing up. But this was all a few years ago, presume coil packs have now been replaced or the faulty one was found and the cover was just never put back on. Nothing to worry about. Im also not a fan of lots of ????? and dots either ..... - they imply something but mean absolutely nothing. haha

Definately install one at the same time to save the cost another tune later - power fc's arent just plug and play unfortunately! A power FC made a huge difference for me in both economy and power post a great safe tune with economy as my preference. (After installing one in mine - an otherwise almost stock, but healthy GTR - I jumped from 187kw to 221kw on low boost 12psi - and 300km to a tank to up to 470km to a tank). In regards to servicing - im sure there are others more experieced on here that live around your area and have had personal dealings with local shops - so they would be able to recommend some great local places for you. Anyway, in regards to the KM's Im hoping your considering a full service with replacement of belts, water pump - etc? Depends where you go but for parts and labour the going rate for the "100,000 km service" is around $1200 from memory. Or this may have already been done? You can pick up power FC's on ebay now a days for give or take $1500+ new. I personally wouldnt go to all the hassle of a second hand one. When you total it up, $1500 (power FC) + $700 (tune) + $1200 (full service) isnt small money, BUT a good way to look at it is money dumped into a great tune now will also shave money off your fuel bill in the future! And you dont want your timing belt to let go and then be up for 10k+ worth of engine damage later. Cars are also best tuned on a cold start - so be prepared to be without a car for 1 - 2 days. When taking this into account, maybe a local tuner would be better for you!
-
Hey David, Congrats on the purchase, many fun times ahead. I'd recommend Mark from Hills motorsports in Castle Hill for a great tune, but if your going to stick in any other mods, id suggest do them now before the tune (cams, power fc - etc). Price would probably be around $700+ for a good tune, probably the going rate anywhere! Make sure you get some form of warranty because remember theres almost always the fine tuning element which comes within the weeks after the initial tune. Keep us all updated!

Ive always loved the sexy curves of the R33 GTR.. but im a series 3 kinda guy - they have to have the lower front lip and the series 3 xenons. 34 GTR comes a close second, i was recently considering buying a sexy looking bayside blue R34 GTR but couldnt get my head around the slight boxyness of its ass, still considering if its the next car for me. But other than that, damn are they sexy or what!

Spotted a green p plater in a red R34 tonight around 9:30 on windsor road. Spotted a white R35 (not the inmed one) on windsor road around 9:35 tonight. Both near the intersection to turn into norwest.

still searching for the right set!
-
my car did this. i had a power FC and it happened when i turned the air con on, and it happened randomly - not all the time. could be completely unrelated to your problem, but when i turned the air on - revs dropped to about 300 and then it kicked itself back up to 1000, then dropped back down - kicked itself back up - etc. was a power FC setting problem.

Hi guys and girls, top of the morning to ya (literally) I should know this.. BUT i dont.. Anyone here with a series 3 GTR, can you please shed some light on the rear fog lamp? How do you use it? Is it activated automatically when the lights are on? Or is there a switch for it? - etc. If so, which switch? I've never actually seen mine light up, not that i've ever had to use a fog lamp haha but still, if its a blown globe or something - i would like to fix it, but need to know how it works first! Any info or advice would be appreciated! Thanks all
