my only reason for wanting to run higher octane was to reduce any chance of pinging... i rarely have spirited runs let alone many runs in a row all day like in a drag day situation. so although i trust Benno's tune it still is unknown how the engine might behave on the track simply because its never been on one.. power increase was never my intention although i must admit R31Nismoids reply did make me think about fattening the power curve with better fuel.. but after reading the discussion and some good points made i decided to run on v-racing and see how it goes.. definately learned few things from this thread.. thanks for the replies... thanks also for the links which i will be checking out... edit: http://www.motec.com.au/fueltest/index.htm

any reason why avgas no good?? i do have PFC but too much of a noob with it to play around with Benno's settings.. if you are confident and know what you are doing and wouldnt mind, it be great if you could fatten the curve with 110 octane mix 50/50 or like you said add to 3/4 of v-racing... if the gain is considerable i dont mind paying 145 for 20 litres, as long as you can put the settings back to what they were...

my car is tuned for 100 octane but i want to run something with higher octane this saturday at the drag meet for extra protection. i rang martini fuels in rowville and got quoted $145 plus GST for 20 litres of 110 octane fuel. this is rather expensive so i called moorabbin airport to see if they still sell to public like they used to back in the 90s when i was a regular buyer... the avgas is currently $2.35 per litre and with 106 octane seems much more economical. they still do sell to public only if a cams passbook ( as he put it ) can be shown at the time of purchase... i assume this is what the track guys with cams licenses have??? just wondering if anyone is also interested in runing avgas and or can help me purchase some with the help of their cams passbook please... i can take care of all the logistics if needed.. cheers
