  1. yeah thats true...i wasnt having a go at the boys....rather the insurance companies... i bought my line when i was 27...and i was rating 1...and i got quoted $1600 to $3500 from just cars depending on what time of the day i called!!!unique cars were the best at $1650, but after many days of searching i ended up getting $850 from QBE...the following year premium went down to $650... it pays to shop around....but my point is i dont trust those dodgy brothers insurance companies like just cars and unique farks...
  2. thats the same amount i pay per year for full comp for my sII r33 GTSt!!!! agreed value is 27.5k...!!! i cant believe how much some people are paying for insurance...and i am in melbourne!!

shouldnt cost much at all, very easy to bang out the stud, and new stud should only cost a few bucks...
  4. yeah i know him....good bloke...and know his cars...i.e the rx4 and the prelude.... i met him while he was an apprentice some years ago...my best mate went to the same trade school as him.... if you tell him 'the datsun 1600 turbo boys' i am sure he will know who we are... say hello...:wavey:

  8. personally i am glad u started this thread as it makes us high powered car owners think about our actions and responsibilities on the road and the possible consequences if we break rules.... lets hope there is something learnt from this thread by all who read it, there really is no need for bagging anyone, its not gonna achieve anything except create anger and hatred.
  9. The high-powered turbo car jumped a gutter, scraped across the footpath and up a bank before hitting the exhaust manufacturing company's wall at a height of 15m. he obviously was out shopping for an exhaust upgrade!
  10. i missed this gor cruise like last one, due to comitments to outdoor soccer team.. maybe third time lucky for me..
  11. my first drive was when we finally shoved the turbo engine into the datsun, and i couldnt stop smiling for days....some ten years ago now...
  12. it is not stock on sII, as i dont have one.... just check to see if u have a shiney metallic box on the passenger side against the firewall...

cant wait for the pics Al.... and if u dont mind me asking how much is it?
  14. no probs... and good luck!
  15. well u oil the foam after you wash and dry it thoroughly....as i said if u oil it too much you will have problems.... if u arent feeling too confident with this process, you can always buy an new foam which is already oiled for you....it is around 60 bucks so not too bad, and you can rest assure your AFM wont be drowning in oil..
  16. if u go to any parts shops, like autobarn or evo r, you can buy a specific oil for air filters...
  17. something interesting to happened to me about 4 weeks ago.... my rev limiter used to kick in around 6500, but after resetting my ecu 4 weeks ago i am not even sure it kicks in anymore...i only have taken it to 7000 or just a bit over, and cant feel it like before.... i had a quick look at the comp without taking it out, no stickers but the nissan label has been removed and stuck back on.... also the engine seems to be running leaner, as i am getting more k's to a full tank and dont have that lovely exhaust popage but there is power loss from 5000 till 7000 compared to before the reset....it almost feels like the comp has lost its modified program...which i know is not possible!! anyone have any ideas???
  18. i bought a new foam for mine and will wash the old one if i can be bothered.... i have heard warm soapy water or kerosene does the job, and not to use harsher chemicals...and u must remember to re-oil it using correct oil, but be very careful not to over oil it as it can ruin the internals of you AFM, which will have adverse effect on how your car runs... if you do a search you will find more detailed answers.

sounds sensational....what type of car did u drive??
  20. great stuff!
  21. it is strange how this problem started with the ecu reset....i am wondering if any sensors have died??? i will run diagnostics tomorrow to see if any problems....
  22. try battery world....if you are in southeast try dandenong battery world.
  23. Jamez.. i have the stock GTS-T system for rainy days and what i suggest is that you take your rear muffler out and have a pipe made up to fit the stock muffler to your existing system.... i kept my 3 1/2 inch system, simply took off the rear muffler, had an 'S' pipe made to fit the stock muffler to the 3 1/2 inch sytem, 100+ db reduced to 83db... it takes two bolts to undo to replace the beast muffler back on... and you are welcome to borrow my stock exhaust/muffler...
  24. i just wanted to give an update on how the car is running since the ecu reset.... i have to say i wish i hadnt reset the ecu.... the car is running very smooth, revving freely, rev limiter kicks in very smooth around 7000 as opposed to very violent at 6500 before the reset, i am getting around 70-100 more k's to a full tank...it is obviously running leaner as i have no exhaust popage left , no more black bumper bar from exhaust( car is white), and engine sounds more tinny and clear whereas it was more boomy before... but what is frustrating me is the lack of (in fact no power) at top end...engine doesnt feel as strong anymore at high revs...i used to get a throw back at 5000 till 6500, it was awesome, but now it feels weak at these revs... any ideas on how to get it back to runing richer, with all the wonderful exhaust popage, black bumper bar every few weeks and the awesome throw back from 5000 onwards...i even want the 6500 rev limit back.... anyone got any ideas?? Cheers
  25. yeah i guess you are right... i havent done any research yet on the aftermarket items, but i have sat in a few GTR's and seats look and feel quite good...and if they bolt straight in as you say, might be the way to go... just worried about how they would look with the rest of the sII interior...do they just come in one colour???
