Steve; Thanks for the advice, as i never actually looked at my skyline AFM internally i imagined them to be somewhat like my Datsun AFM which is an older Nissan unit, and in the past i had gained HP by using a map sensor instead. Cheers

years ago i got some stickers made up for my 1600 at the moorabbin airport market (sorry forgot the name), there are also shops that design stickers...try yellow pages.

Hi Steve; i was mainly refering to the old style AFMs which have the flap type arrangement and are very restrictive, the newer types obviously are not that restrictive, but i imagined there would be an advantage in ditching the AFM in favour of the map sensor in terms of better air flow? Cheers

one thing i noticed when looking for my r33 for about 8 months was that most skylines' had digits on the odometers that were out of alignment...this to me was a sure sign that someone tampered with the clock readings...out of dozens of r33's i looked at only 3 had 'aligned digits' on the clock as well as almost no wear on interior parts like pedals, handbrake, gear stick, seats, carpet etc. etc. interestingly these 3 were all privately imported by people who went to japan to buy their skylines... i am the proud owner of one of the 3, test done on the car prior to purchase also claimed km's were genuine, the engine is very quiet at idle i.e no bearing noises, gearbox is very good also. the car had 50+ kms; after two years and as driven daily now has 90+ and never missed a beat. car also came with a lot of paperwork such as auction documents, cancellation of rego in Japan etc., and seem to support the odometer reading. but there is always a small doubt in my mind.......

used Optimax for about year and a half, but few months ago starting using Ultima...Optimax turned my white bumber black, a mate's 200sx had the same problem...after switching to Ultima no more black bumpers.... anyway check this out, it is a good read http://forums.skylinesdownunder.co.nz/show...25&pagenumber=1

not having an AFM, i.e using the map sensor is a benefit. it means that intake air from the air filter to turbo is less restricted.

auto trans fluid in tank??? never heard of this...

sounds like the factory gauge/sensor playing up as you mentioned it only just started happening, i.e it was fine with the same oil.... but check oil to see level, and for contamination (water or fuel etc.) and buy an aftermarket gauge for more accurate indication.

Duncan very clever....i have an extinguisher and would like to keep it in the skyline ( some years back a modified turbo car of mine caught fire and was saved by a passer by with an extinguisher so since i carry one in that car ) but didnt wanna go drilling around...now i will try your method. Cheers.

i just wanted to say that after installing the standard muffler back in (not by choice of course) and taking the HKS item out the fuel consumption increased.... god bless aftermarket exhausts.

punish your mate and remove him from the avatar...hehehe j/k
