  1. Sumo; turbo's do run very rich and you can always smell the fuel in the oil, but extreme cases the fuel smell is very pungent and points to a problem. oil in a turbo engine of mine once was so diluted that it was like 2 stroke fuel, i kid you not. I only discovered this when the head gasket blew, cylinders filled with this oil fuel mixture and seized the motor....but it was fun rebuilding that engine....hehehehe so i guess since then i am a bit paranoid.
  2. 2.8 litres??? i almost put in 4 litres and was suprised when only 3 litres come out before i filled it up. are u sure about this?

    Skyline Prices.

:bahaha: he is totally full of it....
  4. are these still available? pm please.
  5. how many different grades of redline gearbox oils are there? and which do u recommend?? where can u get it in melb?? thanks.
  6. i have been doing this for years.... i also look for carbon particles or water presence in the oil....i also smell the oil to see if it has been contaminated by fuel..... but yeah i change oil and oil filter every 5,000 k's or 3 months which ever comes first.....
  7. i need a couple of interior bits... i need the A pillar plastic cover driver's side, black, and i need the map light plastic cover. please let me know if you still have these. Thanks
  8. Yes received the pics, thank you. will call you later in the week. Thanks.

    Skyline Prices.

hehehe i am glad someone is on the same wavelength as me..
  11. you are better off taking it to an auto speacialist as they use high pressure to drain the torque converter. its not worth the hassle to do it half as good at home.
  12. well having cooler intake air temps surely must effect the ecu maps, this is my concern. i have heard of instances where the engine lost its smoothness and torque after the installation of aftermarket intercoolers. i am not a big fan of piggy back systems as i only had previous experiences with aftermarket ecu's, perhaps i need to research them a bit...
  13. just had a look at their site....not impressed with the power increase of about 1%.....
  14. http://haloaustralia.com here is their web site...
  15. well at the moment i am very sceptical....and certainly wont be using or promoting them....

    g-tech pro

i dont know the differences between the old and the new g-techs, nor the apexi item. I am not sure what you mean by reving to 6000 rpm???? I found it to be quite good, relatively accurate and a useful tool to see improvements after modifications.
  17. Has anyone heard of a spark plug called the "Halo"??? I have a brochure in which it is claimed that their unconventional design spark plug is very special. They are claiming better economy, more performance, better emmisions, blah blah blah...... It is different to conventional spark plugs as it has a different ground electrode design, it has 3 ground electrodes which are connected by a ring over the top of the centre electrode....hence the name halo..... This is supposed to allow the flame to go through the halo shaped opening, rather than the ground electrode "quenching" the spark, resulting in better combustion and all the claimed benefits. Just wondered if anyone has seen or used this? I can possibly post pix if needed... Cheers

i have a g-tech, had it for about 5 or 6 years what do u wanna know?
  19. this powerfc sounds interesting.... i have not owned or study it at all....although i did test drive an r33 which had one installed... it went nice and hard.... can you tell me how much they cost and where i can find technical info on them? after using LINK, Wolf 3d, Haltech, seeing what motec can do and studying autronic, i would love to compare.
  20. as INASNT said it takes a lot to tune an ECU properly.... my friends sr20 bluebird had the motec ecu, and the car was dynoed a few times over a month period, got feeback from the driver, under different driving conditions to fine tune all aspects. The final product was very impressive. I do not mean to offend anyone, and it is just my opinion, after many many months of research and trials of different ECU's later, that i beleive autronic is better than the rest. Downside is that it is not a cheap unit, and it takes many many hours on the dyno, which is not cheap, to fine tune. And on top of all that only one guy who can tune it properly in melb.
  21. i think changing the cam gears will be of more importance in the future when i get more mods done, but as the engine is relatively stock i wont gain much in terms of performance??? please correct me if i am wrong... dabigwolf I have been thinking about the intercooler for a while but my concern is that the standard ECU will not be able to cope with it. Is this so? do u think the engine will retain its smoothness and drivability? Ideally i want an aftermarket ECU like the autronic but for the time being its not high priority. I hope someone with standard ECU and aftermarket intercooler will shine some light on this for me.... Thanks.
  22. thanks for the nissan dealership info guys.... i think i am better off taking the beast to one of the performance joints as they probably have done this kinda work many times and are very experienced with skylines....just have to decide which one....
  23. Interloper you have pm
  24. i knew them when they were in springvale..... well a few reasons i guess which i do not wish to go into here.
