Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
R33_NICK replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
just wondering, if you were to say fit bigger rotors and calipers say like a K-Sport 8 POT caliper with 330mm rotors, what offset would be best? -

the GR6 transmitions not very smooth at low speeds but several R35s already have transmition problems like while they are still new and not even driven hard. have your tranny checked, hopefully its just the normal operation. we do have customers coming in complainin about some rattly or grinding noise before as well.

If You Weren't Allowed A Nissan What Would You Drive?
R33_NICK replied to Tony de Wonderful's topic in WA Wasteland
i would love a Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO if i were to buy something other than a Nissan. looks like a supercar, kinda goes like 1, 280HP 425NM torque from factory, comfy seats, good tuning base if parts are available. -
despite aftermarket parts being expensive for the R35, look at it this way. Nissan has put a lot of money in Research and Development in the R35 to make the standard car as good as it can be like a Ferrari or an Audi R8 so the next step is surely exxy but this also stops people trying to make cheap shitty parts for the R35 as they do in our usual R32, R33 and R34s, GTST or GTRs. its just like trying to modify a Ferrari or Lamborghini; same thing. the aftermarket parts are expensive because even aftermarket companies are putting their effort into making a part an upgrade rather than sending its power backwards from factory specs, just like Honda's S2000; why is it so expensive to modify? because the proper parts need proper R&D to increase its performance rather than downgrading. some aftermarket parts isnt as good as factory parts on High-Tech cars these days and some of us have seen this happen. its expensive for a good reason in a way, think about it...

Installing A Blitz Temp Gauge - Wirings
R33_NICK replied to JnJ's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
orange is your ignition/accessories wire. u need to tap it into a wire which shows 12V on the multimeter when the ignition is switched on and will show 0V with ignition off. cigarette lighter is a perfect example of ignition source for your orange wire. it pay to have a multimeter or test light handy -
wgmg, hot weather+no air con= constantly getting up from bed every 2 hours, wake up all sleepy the next day.

thats correct, Nissan Aust dealers offer zero support to JDM GTRs but we get ADM GTRs with bucket seats, slotted rotors with ENDLESS pads, etc which we still support. as for warranty, they only pick on things that are modified where the original item can be replaced under warranty but overall forget it and just modify, especially for the brakes since the standard pads are prone to cracking after an outing at the track. tho do keep in mind bout the transmition.

more technology= more complicated=need special tools=more problems=empty wallet. while computers did well to improve comfort n all dat sort of stuff, its nothing special and also what makes a car more expensive to buy or maintain due to the use of special tools to do that particular work which stops people from working on their own cars or other work shops from carrying out any work so they have to go to the dealership (take BMW for example) to get fixed which sort of benefits the dealer. looking at the R35 for example, if the transmition screws up, only the dealership knows how to set and calibrate the shift points, another case where you can only do this at the dealership and not anywhere else. plus they talk about reducing emissions and all that but how many people out there can afford to buy new cars?! there are still a number of old cars running on the road, especially those on carbies with leaded fuel so the race to reduce emissions is pretty much useless.
-
can say something bout the doors but will turn more heads than anything on the road pretty much. the styling might be for functional purposes which is why it looks weird at the best of times but people will take notice of it more than say a HSV with some lumpy cams or a WRX with a big wing on the back, the cars silhoute is menacing enough.

Clutch Assembly Broken How To Remove?
R33_NICK replied to bad_rb20's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
hey mate, had this happen to me just recently as well tho i was lucky the whole thing didnt come off completely and hold the assembly on with a coat hanger while getting it fixed (dont do this, not recommended but had no choice since its my daily driver). what the problem was, one of your spotwelds on the bracket might have snapped, a common problem if you have a heavy duty clutch or any clutch that has higher clamping force than standard. cheapest solution is to get it rewelded around the spotwelds and add a bit more weld to reinforce it on the way which is what i did. becareful where you weld or the material will get in the way when reinstalling back to the firewall. but if your willing to spend a bit more, the nismo solution as Elite racing mentioned is the best way to go as it doesnt cost much more than da factory one ($110 quoted for standard Nissan). -

im after a pair of Recaro seat rails both driver and passenger side. the ones ive got are from a 300zx so the rear right mount on the driver's side hole doesnt line up and the passenger rail doesnt have a mounting for seat belt buckle. if anyone has any for sale that fits R33 skylines or knows anyone or any companies that stock them, let me know. the seat i have is probably an old SR3 or SR4 type. any help is greatly appreciated. used search but found nothing and need one urgently. thanks

Autobahn88 Shop - Oil Cooling
R33_NICK replied to performance-wise's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
is the thread pitch on the sensor thread 1/8 PT or 1/8 NPT? and does the sandwich plates use the RB oil filters? -
engines and transmitions these days somehow love breaking down for no reason eventhough we thought they were meant to be more reliable due to technology advancements<-guess not. more computers normally mean more troubles linking from the faulty component to the other and another.

Lamborghini Murcielago Lp640 Or Ferrari F430
R33_NICK replied to siksII's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Lamborghini wins. Ferrari F430 is just not in the same class as the Murcielago. Gallardo is the proper rival to the F430. tho street cred, noise, performance, looks, Lamborghini still wins hands down. -
in terms of performance, the R35 will win hands down. the Ferrari is in a lower class in terms of performance and the R35 is much more practical a well. but if you want street cred, attention and respect, Ferrari is better in those areas i mean, everyone who hears the word Ferrari will already think its something.

wgmg, you cant rely on a lot of people these days! TIP-if you know a lot about cars and know how to fix them, do yourself a favour and do most of the work yourself. one day i left my car idling, i heard a rattling noise from the undercarriage, thinkin it was gearbox, jacked the car up and found one of the exhaust bolts loose cuz da nuts come off! i had a workshop which ill keep anonymous fit my new dump/front pipe at the start of the year cuz i was lazy to fit it myself. so, if you can carry out some of the jobs yourself, do it but if your not confident, be sure to send it to someone you can trust your ride with.
