Aircon unit in dash lights not working
sherlock_nzl replied to Swordfish19792002's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Pan Pacific Auto Electrical, Try Auto Electrical shops, Auto radio shops for car radio bulbs, I got an original good bulb and measured the resistance and then checked the new bulbs to get the same or something close as I didnt know what wattage they were. Auto electrical shops have universal dash bulbs that just need a bit trimming off them. -
Aircon unit in dash lights not working
sherlock_nzl replied to Swordfish19792002's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
U can buy bulbs in holders and with removing a small amount off the lugs they will fit. or u can buy bulbs with 2 wires about 25mm long out of them and fit them to your old bulb holders. very carefully with the piont of a needle, run it around the bulb to remove the blue condom and fit it to the new bulb other wise the light will come out yellow not white. -
If you have scrubbed out a set of tyres in 4000km on the inside of the tyres I would say you have to much toe out on the rear wheels. Get a wheel alignment done. Camber dosen't scrubb out tyres and you dont have caster on the rear

squeeking sound when clutch in
sherlock_nzl replied to Trust33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Most likely thrust bearing noise. There is a spigot bearing in the flywheel but I dont know what sort it is but it could also be that. I usually put a very small amount of nickel antisieze on the clutch spline to ensure that the plate slides freely on spline, but even dry it will not make a noise. Cheers -

Well the one that I replaced was a resistor because I could see a couple of coloured rings but couldnt tell what colour the other rings were, In mine only one section of the LED's had gone out, about a dozen. they must use both diodes and resistors on the different models Would I be right in saying to identify which you have, diodes are usually black with a silver ring around them with the diode symbol, and the resistor is usually cream coloured with coloured rings around them to show resistance value Cheers

Hi Cobra-Mark I to have down loaded it on to XP machine and sound to have the same VB problem. did you install it as the read me file said to do for windows. I was going to try loading the other 3 zip files and installing them with the .exe as it said to do if you are using dos. the 4 or 5 files are together in one DIR. All I am getting at the moment is a window opening with 3 or 4 options and exit. exit is the only thing that works. Keep us posted on what u try and if it works Cheers -
Hi The thingi that Jimx called a diode is really a resistor and it is there to drop the voltage down so you dont blow the LED's so putting a piece of wire in is not a good idea. mine was burnt out so could not see how many ohms it was. I worked out it should be around either 47 or 470 ohms (I cant remember, its writen down at home) If you can see the colours on it can you please let me know,

Autotrust, if Akeenan had that problem, none opf his led's would b working, he only has 4 not working, Carefully with a stanly knife gets the light open, then I sealed mine up with silicon so it would b easier to get into next time.
-
R33's are in groups of led's. the fried thingy u talk about is a resistor either 47 or 470 Ohms which ever it is to reduce it from 12volts to 2 volts for the led's. I havent got the specs of the led with me to work it out but dick smith should b able to work it out but if cant get back 2 me

Best way to remove a Passenger side window???
sherlock_nzl replied to a topic in General Maintenance
To remove window motor Get a length of masking tape and run strip along joining window to door. Remove door trim Disconnect wiring Remove 3 screws holding motor assembly, the 4th screw needs only loosening in its slot then lifting up and the head of bolt will pass through hole. Towards rear of door there is 2 bolts 150mm apart in vertical slots with marking next to them, with scriber, mark ring around bolt/washer (so you know where to put it on reassembly) remove bolts. At bottom of window glass is a rail with a bolt at each end, undo nuts and at same time watch the end of the bolt to ensure it does not turn, if it turns hold the other end which I think is like a flat washer with a couple of flats on it. (You may have to undo the masking tape and lower the window down to get to these two bolts) after you have removed these two nuts and pulled off rail, move the window to the top and retape. Motor and arms can be removed through the large hole at rear bottom of door. Refer to other reply for motor repair. Hope that helps -
Liquid amonia dissolves carbon, oven cleaner. If using a tap, cover it in grease, the bits will get caught up in the grease and come out with the tap.
