  1. the first thing i would do is replace the plugs and make sure they are gapped to .8mm... then i would remove the stock bov...
  2. Hi, I'll be frank and say this not for an RB series motor, but rather an SR20DET...I have gotten it tuned recently to the current power level however I have a problem with the power band dropping off too much at high RPM... The current specs for the head are as follows: Solid lifter conversion - so the ramp rate of the cams are different to the hydrolic type cams.. hks step 3 264 inlet cam hks step 3 272 exhaust cam 1mm oversized exhaust valves HKS valve springs - coil bind is not an issue - its been checked and came up good The turbo is a modified Apexi RX6 unit with a bigger compressor wheel, .80 A/R exhaust turbine with 67mm exhaust wheel...so it should not be dopping off boost or power top end wise... Now the cam gears are currently set on 4 deg advanced on the inlet and 3 deg retard on the exhaust, i just took pretty much a stab in the dark with these settings... The boost controller is an AVCR and I have no idea why the boost curve looks like that... :S With this current power i ran a 13.1@125mph recently at willowbank with a 2.5 60 foot... :S What would you guys recommend i change the cam gears to to get my power curve to keep on keepin' on... Here is the dyno printout:
  3. Im asuming that you where running less power at townsville due to the humidity and generally hotter air temps. You where running less power so you hooked up better. This is just an assumption, not saying your right or wrong...
  4. Your not being nasty, your expressing your point of view based on your experience which is totally valid - I am doing the same and I hold no grudge and have no hard feelings yes my car is manual and i do realise that there is that bit of questioning when it comes to gear changes and TS but in my honest opnion (and not for the sake of making a point on a thread) I can say the gearchanges are pretty consistant... However. A supra up here I know and used to help tune made 550rwhp at the treads- though the stock auto trans. 1st run 12.8 @ 124.2 mph (2.4 60ft) 2nd run 12.4 @ 127.2 mph (2.3 60ft) nothing touched or changed - just a better 60 foot Im just going on what I have seen in real life experiences... Also comes to the discussion (not arguement) on does a better time equal more terminal speed?
  5. Sorry I disagree with you guys here on this one. the thing about turbo cars is their inconsistancy, BUT from personal experience everytime I have gone to the track my best mph has always resulted from a better 60 foot. (Take no note of my signature as those times and TS have resulted from different power levels) I totally agree that power dictates your terminal speed, however your 60 foot does come into play. Especially when you have a big turbo that lags... From personal experience, If I launch and fry the tyres in first, and second and pick third the car usually bogs down as it doesnt have enough speed and rpm for the turbo to make boost and therefore I have significant lag time in that run hence less distance to get my trap speed up.. Mr. Blond, your scenario also has no relevance to 60 foot times. Just a quick addition my track times for the last few weeks: 5.7.06 Time 1: 13.4@114mph - 60 foot 2.7 Time 2: 12.6@121mph - 60 foot 2.2 19.7.06 Time 1: 12.8@117mph - 60 foot 2.4 Time 2: 11.8@119mph - 60 foot 1.8 Im always going to say that a better 60 time SHOULD net you a better TS. Im not saying it will always do it, but it should do it.
  6. Thats my point, you put a motor from the same model car into your car...Kinda like like the Americans replacing their KA24DE's with SR20DET's with the S13 and S14 Silvias. Same car just different motors from factory... In MY opinion, and I really stress the "MY" part, a street car is a one that retains the OEM motor, and driveline. I think it is easier to put a bigger motor in a smaller car with a glide and run fast et's and mph as opposed to someone who takes the time and uses the oem motor and driveline and gets the same results. Sure there are people that have street driven cars with different motors and driveline combos and thats cool, and I still respect that and yes it is a "street" car as such, but in "MY opnion" its not a street car if you get what im saying. I know my view may not be to everyones, probably anyones, taste. But thats just me...
  7. you cant be serious with that statement? YOU of all people!
  8. I think the reason why the Nittos are a good drag tyre is in the sidewall. Have you guys actually pressed down on the sidewall of a Nitto when the tyre is not fitted to the car? Its bloody soft in comparison to my Potenza RE01s which are my steer tyres for the front... I cant wait to see how my Nittos go on the street! Ill also let you guys know how the Nittos perform at the track compared to my M/T ET streets... Damn I have way too many rims and tyres!!!!
  9. Hi all, I have decided to sell my Tomei solid lifters and test shims due to financial reasons. They will fit any SR20DET out of the S series platform. They are brand new the test shims alone cost me $140. The whole lot - $400 to your door delivered. Or $400 pick up - either way it does not bother me. Located in Brisbane. This is NOT a ono trade. Please contact via pm or 0415433286. Thanks, Ahmed
  10. my version of a street car is if it retians the same motor and the same gearbox then its a street car... No disrespect to you Shane either, i feel that your car doesnt fall into this category however as the same kind of kerb weight is there... Im not a fan of RBs into S13s or 13B turbos into old RX series mazdas and people calling them a street car...Not a fan of gas either, but thats a whole other bitch there... Thanks 2rismo for the info on the tyre pressures and burnouts on the M/T ET streets. Would you guys know how much tyre pressure Nitto extreme 555s should have? I just bought a set of these for my street rims...
  11. just a quicky, how long would you guys skid up the m/t et streets? A little skid, a half track skid? lol
  12. did you use the earlier model falcon persuit rims or the later model? I know that the earlier model falcon persuit rims have a gay offset which sit in really close...
  13. I have 2 black AU falcon persuit rims and 2 silver AU falcon persuit rims - brand new in condition. They are 16x6.5 with a 29 offset - i dont know if its a + or - offset but on the rear of my car they fill out the guards really nicely (S13 silvia). The two black rims have tires on them but they are pretty shagged so I would only use them for drift or skid tires. They clear the rear brakes on my car and they should clear R32s and R33 gtst rear brakes - the fronts im pretty sure you will need spacers. I was going to use them for track rims, however I couldnt say no to a set of work 16" rims that i got for a decent price... Im located in brisbane and not really wanting to ship, but if your willing to pay for shipping i guess i will send them interstate. My phone number is 0415433286. Asking $80 bucks for the whole lot. Thanks, Ahmed

  15. hahah thanks Adrian. Thank god there are still usefull people on forums these days!
  16. AAAh excellent - i just thought because they are a radial tyre that they wouldnt bag up as much as a full cross ply slick.... Thanks for the advice mate, i shall give it a go in hopefully a couple of weeks...
  17. 1260kg wet... I really dont know how mucn tyre pressure to run with the ET streets. What would you recommend with those tyres and a nissan silvia?
  18. that was with M/T et streets hahaha 11.8@119mph but with the car running very strange...
  19. I took out my car the other night and managed a 1.8 60 foot on 28psi in the tyres... I also broke something in the diff as well due to a bit of axle tramp finishing off the burn out... I never knew that they creased like that - i didnt think that they would do that either... Oh well with my new diff centre and some more power ill try it lol...
  20. Ill probably go down there to watch, ill maybe race...depends on the weather - if its too hot im not going to bother risking my motor for crap et's..
  21. Do I qualify since I have a Nissan Silvia? I noticed on the first post you only specify nissan but all I see are skylines in the list lol...
  22. I would say thats about right hey... The 60 footer is pretty ghey but there is not much you can do with the factory stall on autos unless you get it restalled... I would probably try and do kinda a line lock and before it starts to build up decent positive pressure in the inlet release the brake and kinda skid off the mark...may sound stupid, but i would give it a go...
  23. I think Carlos's supra is from Millenium motorsports - are we talking about the purple supra UWU55? Hardcore did have a 2J supra however that motor broke about a few months back im pretty sure... Anywho have people forgotten about Mark Jacobson's black R32 GTR thats run a 9.3@145mph on M/T ET Streets with I _think_ ~600rwhp - his car did make close to 1000rwhp at the Gold Coast Autosalon dyno comp with gas however the aforementioned time was run without the assistance of nitrous... Also I think that we have to be talking about cars that are actually built and run in Australia as the budgets are kind off on par, compared to the sponsorship that the Americans get... Oh yeah - Jason/SLO32 love your car mate!
  24. I have seen some internally stock motors do some serious numbers down the track... My old motor ran a 12.9@124mph on 18psi and that was a totally dead stock SR20DET from the wreckers...I think with a decent launch it would have trapped in the 126-128mph ball park... I also have a contact in the states who has run a 10.4@138mph on a dead stock SR20DET bottom end - just a head gasket and some head work which is just insane for a standard bottom end!
