  1. Hi, Just recently my car was off the road for 3 months getting the motor rebuilt, and yesterday I finally put the motor in and hooked up everything properly. But when it came to start up and when i switched the car on accessories the power fc hand controller would light up and display "Power FC" and thats it!!! It just gets stuck on that screen and so i cant access the menus, displays, or maps... Does anyone know what this could be? The power FC is brand new and it has worked perfectly in the past so i know the hand controller is the original one for the model. Also as a side note - the car has 850cc injectors and a Z32 airflow meter and it started and ran fine with the new motor so its still got its original tune in it, but for some reason it wont go past displaying the "Power FC" start up screen... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ahmed
  2. my mate has put down 520rwhp on stock RB20 rods - they where only shot peened and ballanced... He also turned that motor to like 8500rpm or something like that as well...

Hi all, Just a quick question, on my first motor my turbo sucked up an air temp sensor and basically all the blades from the turbo went into the intercooler, and basically i left it like that and that was fine for that motor... However since im putting my built motor in there soon i want to get rid of everything inside that core that could end up into the fresh motor. Also any other ideas on how to get that crud outta there as i dont want to be changing coolers... Thanks, Ahmed
  4. from what i have seen with the rb25 and SR20 injectors they look the same, and have the same specs... The S15 injectors are supposidly 480cc which will be a fairly good improvement to the stock RB25 injectors... However, i think the S15 injectors are rated a little higher also because they run slighty higher fuel pressure.
  5. What blows up the MSD or the mercury coils? Hmmm... So what coils can you use on the MSD without something going bang? lol
  6. What was the actual part number of the mercury outboard coils you where looking at? I'll see what i can do to track down some of these - if i purchase lets say 10 of them or something then hopefully we could get some kind of discount.

  8. Hi, Just wondering if the R34 GTS 5 speed gearbox is the same as any other RB25DET 5 speed gearbox? Like is there any difference strength wise, or different gearing? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Ahmed
  9. coolies thanks for the response! I think im pretty sure in what your saying. Since Im only using an SR20DET 4 cyl motor, and since i have a 4 channel CDI ignition system i dont see how it would be a problem... the only problem is figuring out how to wire this sucker in! :S
  10. thanks Syd Kid - i was actually looking forward to your response in this thread! I remember doing a search on this topic and you stated the exact same thing which is why Im looking into sourcing those mercury outboard coils. Just a quick question though - I have read recently (on a forum) that you cannot use the MSD Ignition system and external coils on Power FC equipped Silvias - im not too sure if this includes skylines (Im assuming it does as they would run similar ignition setups?) Can you please shed any light on this topic?
  11. I have been advised not to use the standard coils by many workshops and tuners - however i have seen them work with the hks twin spark cdi systems so ill see how i feel on the day, i might just leave the standard coil packs in there and see what happens

  13. Hi all, Just curious to see how many people have installed a CDI ignition system on their cars and actually experienced an increase in HP just on the ignition upgrade. At the moment im not maxing out my spark however I do have an MSD DIS4 just sitting around and i was wondering if it would increase HP just by upgrading the spark? The motor is an SR20DET making around 380-390rwhp on around 17psi of boost...
  14. those things are fantastic hey! I remember seeing this top gear a few weeks back at my mates house and i was impressed! All you would need is a little more boost an intercooler and i reckon that thing would chop the F40 lol...
  15. i have personally gotten close to 400rwhp out of my walboro intank fuel pump and thats using an SR20DET motor... Im going to see what the limits of this little walboro are but im pretty sure its still got plenty of life it in yet... However it is good to know that you can mount fuel pumps in series without a surge tank! I know what I will be doing if the walboro runs out of puff...
  16. or if you dont mind changing gearboxes leave it in there and if/when it does let go just get yourself a CA18DET gearbox and swap the bellhousing as the CA boxes go for 300 bucks or something and arent that brittle...

  18. thats an awesome result mate, you gotta be happy with that! Just a quick question - why did you change to the d-getro? Where you maxing out your airflow meters electronically or where they becoming a physical restriction? Also where you able to use your old tune from the old power fc or did you have to get a compete different retune?
  19. In my car i have noticed that vortex actually does feel alot stronger, compared with bp ultimate... I might make a switch and see how it goes with my built motor, as there where no ignition corrections when they were testing the pump fuels...
  20. you can get a MSD DIS4 ignition system - that has an ignition cut rather than a fuel cut that the power fc uses... However they are very expensive! - trust me i know

  24. yeah my knock reading was a little funny when i had it on the dyno about a week back... Im assuming its perhaps just exterior noise as there was no signs of pinging from the exhaust and my tuner did not hear any pinging through his ear peice... I dunno, im putting my situation down to a faulty knock meter so im getting it replaced with another one i have lying around...
  25. I personally wouldnt go with any of the turbos mentioned thus far... I would personally go with an Apexi RX6B or something along those lines. Im using one on my SR20 - which has had the front wheel and cover modified - and its making around 390rwhp on 17psi with the usual support mods and a set of BABY cams, on a very conservative tune... I get full boost around 4800-5200rpm depending on gearing and load... On a 2.7 i think it would easily make ~500rwhp on around 1.6-1.8bar and have excellent response...
