    Free Beer!

It probably started about 2 months ago its an intermittent problem.. and when i changed my sarks i checked and done all of b) With the afm the only thing ive tried was re-soldering my joints even though they wer good and also trying someone elses afm who was trying to sell me, but it was a dodge lol, no offense to that person. however i learnt that my afm is still doing its job, and also i dont think its the stock afm i think its a Z32, having said that it could still very well be the problem. ill get round to trying a stock afm when i can source it out, and judging from bunny itll be soon!

  9. Dam that sucks... i just got my new iridium sparkies in today, orded it online awsome price like 6 bucks each! anyway i changed over my plugs and araldited my coils with abit of elect heat tape over it. after it was done i reseted my ecu and took her for a spin.. OMG!!! the first couple minutes wer insane! lol i felt my car come back to life... was the best feeling lol, felt like a brand new car.. but after abit she died.. sigh now im stumped iono what to do.. needa find a good mechanic i trust.. and charges fair. btw try out this link with ur missfire problem: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Mi...500-t32356.html theres alot of reasons why skylines missfire, they run rich etc but the main cause i think is the coil packs, give it a go. ill update on what was the problem after i find out what it is
  10. Hey, theres a thread about gearbox oil changes.. lol would have been good if you read that first but yeh lesson learnt, nuff said. Ok when i changed my gearbox oil i had the same problem i couldnt get either plug undone.. well not with a car jack anyway.. pretty much u need a pit or a hoist, i used the hoist at my tafe.. the filler came out with abit of elbow grease, but the drain was the hard one for me. i sprayed it with abit of WD40 then got a metal tube, the longer the better and just connected it to the socket handle and then just pushed and pulled and yeh it came off eventually.. The reason behind why its so hard to get off is because the plugs are tappered so the more it goes in the harder it will be to get out. another thing is try not to butterfly the socket, in my case it was ok lol i machined brand new ones Good luck on the change!

    Worst Luck

Those two points that are bent up is the jack point, the jack bit that grabs on to the car was the bit that bent on the jack. ill try get some qoutes tomorow if im free, thanks for the suggestions guys, ill be sure to call them all. heres some more pics: ARGHHHH hate looking at.. wish i could go to sleep and wake up up with it out it being there thanks for the comments guys, makes me alot feel better.. everything is going to be fine hopefully
  13. The other day i found someone selling their stock afm, looked in bad condition, but the guy said it was in perfect working order, so i asked to try it and when i plugged it up and tried to start my car, it wouldnt start at all i then started the car with no afm and then plugged in the same afm and my car just died. So pretty much that afm was screwed, i also noticed it had the nissan logo on it and mine didnt so that means, mines an aftermarket one.. and looks pretty much new, when i opened it up to be resoldered the joins where perfect and had no dry bits or anything. So in conclusion must be my sparks or coils what else could it possibly be?
  14. It happen yesterday, i had abit of free time so i thought id change over my gearbox oil. My hydraulic jack was broken, i guess out of oil so it wouldnt pump. I then decided to use my car jack.. i noticed that the nissan car jack was too hard to wind up, so i then used a toyota jack which was easier to wind up.. i wound it up till my front wheel was just of the ground, then i hear a creak and i was like oh F*** the side skirt then bent in and i quickly wound it back down. The end result... the jack head had buckled under pressure and bent causing an uneven surface area on the car jack point which then bent in my side skirt.. ARGHHHH Im so annoyed at myself right now, everytime i walk past my car anger just builds up and i have the urge to swear out aloud. Pretty much i need to get it fixed, because now i cant jack up that side in the event of a flat tyre, also it just looks horrible, the door is still able to open luckily so i guess its just the side skirt thats damaged, im pretty sure its apart of the actual bodywork, so i dont know if its repairable or if i can replace the skirt. I'm a full time student, and am going to start my apprenticeship soon, so im pretty much broke, petrol rims me as it is.. So if anyone knows a panel beater or has had any experience in this, please reply to post would be much help.. pretty much anything to soften the blow would be good. Thanks, Nada.
  15. yeh thats what i pretty much did, just sprayed it in the direction of the flow, but i dont think it really matters, sigh this problem is bugging me, i just orded some new iridium spark plugs, if that fails.. then im all out of ideas..
  16. ARGHHH i couldnt get the dam filler or drain plug loose, its like a bolt with a sqaure socket, there lso tight and i think glued in aswell, my 2,500kg jack is broken atm too so i had to use the wheel changing jack and then use clamp stands, not enough room to get in, looks like im gonna have to take it into the mechanics to get the dam bolts loose, or just dig a pit in my back yard lol. anyone from sa who could get my plugs undone? ill pay with a slab of beer
  17. OK so i decided to remove my aftermarket bov and yeh after removing it i had to block the flange with somthing, so i fabricated a little covering etc. I also soldered the afm as suggested. heres some pics Ok so i was heaps excited, like awsome this is sure gonna fix my problem, so i took her for a spin and for some reason she booted, YES i could feel the turbo pull again.. but yeh soon enough she died randomly again... so the outcome was pretty good, by reomoving my aftermarket bov which i had no need for gave me abit more power which makes no sense, however knowing that the bov is now fine that pretty much leaves the afm as the problem... im guessing mine is pretty much dead... so yeh tonight ill try source a Z32 afm (gonna send me broke) and then install it and reset my ecu... AND HOPEFULLY thats the end of my saga... to be continued ?
  18. LOL naw ur lucky but becareful someone might pour diesal in there or something LOL
  19. yeh i tried cleaning it, but it still died randomly, it pretty much happens when i give the car abit, usually after the bov flutter and the suction from the air filter letting go, so i think ill do the soldering and still remove the aftermarket bov. so whats the process of taking the aftermarket bov off? do i have to replace that pipe that its on? or is that the stock pipe?
  20. So i guess its a common problem, well try this link might help you out: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fi...-s-t113284.html Sigh, im now thinking off doing it, and i mean if worst comes to worst ill just buy a new afm and reset my ecu. Thanks for your input, anymore help guys would awsome!
  21. i got my window tints done, all up cost me $200 bucks which is awsome other places where charging around 270 - 320! the tint was for the rear windscreen and all the sides, however the catch is the driver and passegnger side have to be 70% and the darkest you can go is 35% (the lower the darker) BUT he was a nice guy and was like tell you what ill just do 35% all the way through! but if you get pulled over dont mention this place! LOL sure thing! After the tinting was done i asked how much it wouldve cost if i wanted darker etc and he was like nuts, should have said so before same price mate as darkest as you want, you can even get a mirror tint, i was like dang too late. i could have went presidential 5% LOL The point is i got my tinting done for a good price OH and my brother who has a 2001 WRX got his front windscreen replaced from the same guys the next day because he had small stone chips on his, he got qouted for $400+ at O'briens and the place i recommended him only charged $140 and this was quality glass not that china crap O'briens gets! If you want the contact details, just pm me. and ill arrange what ever you need
  22. Dang i think they stopped giving away free chamios, i missed out, no my life is over! lol i checked out the customer feedback and at the bottom it says * Your details will not be sold or transfered to a 3rd party. * so no need to worry guys. LOL they have a $200 voucher drawn every month though, hrm lol nah ill pass not like i use nulon
  23. When u unscrew the fuel cap, youll see the peice that holds the cap on, its the round peice of metal which has the little spring flap on it for when u insert the nozzle etc. you cant miss it Mine was on fairly tight as the glue was still good, thats why i questioned if the leak was coming form there, even though i could see the fumes coming out from there. But i then came to the conclusion that the glue proabaly didnt go all the way around, so i got pliers and wrapped a cloth around so i wouldnt scratch anything and just gripped on the metal bit and moved it around abit, and eventually it became loose, and yeh i was right the glue was good but they just didnt properly apply it all around, so some air would escape. I then stripped off the old glue, and then put some glue on the inside of the tank mouth and then applied a generous amount on the back side rim of the metal bit i pulled off, then stuck it into the hole and held it down tight for abit and left it over night to dry. I then filled her up the next day and closed the cap, you should hear that clicking noise when u tighten it all the way, that means the metal bit u glued on is dried and secure. when i got hom i opened my fuel cap and WHOOSH, lol i never really knew how much u can miss that sound But hope you guys get ur problem fixed, lol just try not sit there for hours opening and closing ur cap after its done, might get high on the fumes
  24. ok today while my car was idling i pulled out the afm plug and my car just spluttered and cut out, so the afm is obviously doing its job, just to make sure i started the engine without the afm plugged in and it started but my revs wer all rough and jumpy, i then plugged the afm back in and the revs went back to normal. I still havnt had the time to check my sparks and coils, but im pretty sure their not the culprit, after surfing and browsing the net i figured its probally my blow off valve, so now i plan to remove my bov and put a stock one back on. I then went out and looked at my engine and was like wtf i have 2 blow of valves, the stocky and the aftermarket blitz, the aftermarket blow off valave was fitted onto the top pipe for the stock side intercooler, so im guessing the piping is aftermarket too. so now my choices are.. if it is because i have 2 blow off valves, i have too remove one, which will probaly be the aftermarket one and get a new stock intercooler pipe or if its my stock bov thats causing the problem ill just remove it and block the hole some how here is a tagged picture of my engine: First ill try source a stock intercooler pipe and remove my aftermarket bov, to see if that was the problem. ill update when i install everyhting. PS. SORRY FOR THE REALLY LONG DRAGGED POST and seriosuly any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
  25. i had the same problem, when ur car gets complianced they have to change the socket to an unleaded. They usually just apply glue and stick it in. Usually after time itll wear out causing fumes to come out and not hearing that whooosh sound when u open your cap. I used "silkaflex" its around $17 but i got it for $12 at supercheap autos. Hope that helps mate
