  1. UPDATE DATE DATE date date date... Well its all welded up and was finished off by my uncle. He commented on how tough it must have been to survive the hit it had without any bad structural damage. I have been forced back to Hobart, so in the mean time all the welds have been cleaned and apparently its not possible to tell that a new panel is in place. The spray painter was busy the day we wanted it painted so it will be next week or the weekend most likely before its actually painted and blended to match.
  2. For a good condition RB25DE you will be looking at $1250 from Adelaide Jap. For a turbo you are looking at about $1950. Cheaper or more expensive depending on k's and who is selling - private or a business. Linkies for Adelaide Jap (who have always been helpful to me): http://www.adelaidejap.com.au/
  3. No luck needed! Just got a call and its been welded back up and its on its way to the spray booth! The glass will be back in and it should be done this Wednesday. Should be more pics either today or tomorrow.
  4. UPDATE!!! Well after a week of having no time to get it back together, we have finally got stuck in. It turned out that the damage to the inner guard was reasonably extensive, however my uncle was called and it was repaired within a day. Then a day was spent getting things to line up and then the test fit. A few things are a tad out (stretched slightly from the accident and then when the spot welds were cut it kind of sprang out of shape) like where the taillight butts up against the guard. However we took to it and my father was happy to say it is now within factory spec. Everything will be welded today, and the bits that need to be sprayed will be sprayed in a friends spray bay by a professional. All things going well it should be back on the road if not this wednesday next wednesday as that is the only day that transport will do the inspections they need to do before it can be officially re-registered.
  5. My car will be well and truly back together by then. I will be more than willing to join in on the tassie leg. Should be quite fun...
  6. I have just wandered into this thread during a between lecture break. Needless to say I have missed my next lecture as I sat here staring. Wow. I mean I have been involved in some anal retentive rebuilds but I have never seen a GTR prepared to these kinds of standards. It reminds me of when I was being obsessive compulsive with my XB GT. Putting all the screws into little labeled boxes as to their location and size, or removing all the original stickers carefully so I could put them back on later, or building large sandblaster so I could do all the cleaning myself. Four years later and its still not painted... Its brilliant man, exactly the kind of look I like. If you weren't across the Bass Straight I would be coming around for a perv. I am in awe.
  7. While I haven't actually seen one I was aware of a factory five stud, four door, NA, R33 kicking around Hobart. It was recently for sale. Also we can sit around and debate the kilometers all day but from the photos I've seen its in bloody good condition. So even if we ignore the kilometers question its certainly in "as new condition". Short of going around to this blokes house and looking at the car ourselves, us keyboard warriors are going to wear our fingers out arguing here but what will happen is a new and potentially donating member will disappear off the face of the earth. The skyline looks nice and clean. Congrats on the good buy de Powa.
  8. It depends on budget of course, but cams would give the greatest bang-for-buck in a build like this. Just remember to change the valve springs etc because I doubt they were designed for a lumpy NA cam. Its good to see someone doing something different despite all the people running around slagging it off. Good job.
  9. R33 GT25 114,482 kilometres Has log books, receipts and mechanics notes so I'm pretty sure its legit.
  10. Well I am not entirely sure on the boost controller front, not sure what brand/model. Need to do some more research. The exhaust I can get built for free thanks to family connections. Mandrel bent mild steel. Yummy. I am probably going to end up using an R34 intercooler, should be plenty thick enough for low boost applications and upgrade to a FMIC when I get some more cash saved up however that would ruin the sleeper look wouldn't it? The only thing I am worried about is tapping into the sump for the oil return but I could get someone to have a look at that for me (my father most likely who just happens to be a engineer). It will probably take the best part of two months to get all the parts and then get time off to work on the conversion (damn uni exams!). Once my car is back on the road I'll make a thread about the entire process.
  11. Well I have all the pieces I need now! I was surprised by how quick I got a response for the parts. I'll go pick them up in a couple of weeks and pay the good man and then the turbo upgrade can begin! Its all worked out at about half the price I calculated too which is even better. So if I add to my shopping list a good boost controller I should still be under budget. I'll take pics of how it goes and I'll keep you all posted....
  12. Looks like I'm all sorted! Cheers guys!
  13. All sorted now! Big thanks to Wogboy and TV234R!
  14. PM sent...
  15. Oh I forgot to say it needs to be an auto ecu as well...
  16. Okay, I have decided to use a little of the spare insurance money that I received after my crash to go the turbo route with my NA. Therefore there will be a few bits I will need. For all of these items I will consider just about anything if it's in reasonable condition. So then: WANTED R33, series one, RB25DET, GTS-T Ecu. R33 complete turbo. Prefer lowish kilometres or very good condition. R33 Intercooler. R33 turbo manifold. Dump pipe. R33 fuel regulator. I think thats about it. If you have anything shoot me a PM and I will give you some contact details.

  18. Well then, I am on the hunt for a R33 GTS-T ecu... If anyone knows of the location of one let me know!
  19. Well that actually brings my costs down quite a bit. Providing the tune for a stock GTS-T ecu is spot on I shouldn't really have any problems - and it makes it pretty much plug and play! I have read the whole of this thread but just double checking by using this ecu is my reliability compromised? It does need to be quite reliable being as its normally my daily driver.
  20. Well while my car is sitting in the shed getting slowly put back together I have been considering my options engine wise. One half of me wants an all out NA engine build, with individual throttle bodies, extractors, up the compression a tad etc for maybe a 40% increase atw. The other half says well that's a fantastic idea and all but the cost is huge. For the same money I could do a turbo swap, sort out my suspension and install bigger brakes. So I've tried pricing things up for a turbo conversion, bearing in mind its an auto R33. $250 for a low kilometer RB25DET turbo. $700 odd for Greddy Emanage $100 for a standard R33 RB25DET intercooler $200 for turbo manifold $90 for a dump pipe $100 for injectors free piping free cat back free crossover which makes the total around 1500 odd. Mechanically I am capable of doing this myself if a few things are explained to me. My questions are: Being as its an auto will Emanage Ultimate be neccessary? How much of a pain in the ass is Emanage to install? what is the easiest way to tap into oil and water? You mentioned that the heater hose is an option. and most importantly have I forgotten anything? EDIT: oh and I have a fuel pump and pressure regulator....
  21. That's a good baseline for a NA to be run in. Especially considering the cams aren't matched, the gearbox sounds dodgey, probably needs a better diff most likely, and didn't you say it needs everything from the extractors back looked at? That's pretty impressive really. Run in properly with a (much) more aggressive tune, and those problems sorted out it will be interesting to see its actual power output. I am left wondering how much torque it is currently producing. While I'll never have enough cash to do it myself its an awesome project. Keep us posted with the details!
  22. No alarm so no worries for me Sure its not a perfect system but it worked for me...
  23. As my car is in a million pieces while it is getting repaired I decided to go looking for the wire you mention. I also couldn't find it. So I went for option three which was to take that plastic strip off the door and disconnect the sensor at the door end. Took about 2 minutes. The downside is that the interior light doesn't come on when the doors are opened, but that doesn't really bother me as much as that beeping did...
  24. Actually he did... Apparantly I braked too quickly lol. Yeah knowing people is handy otherwise I would have been royally screwed. I can't really see the point in getting GTR bits for a non-turbo. I was pretty upset too... Oh well at least I'm not paying for it to be fixed its more of a pain than anything. At least its going to be a perfect job what with the people on it that are. I'm pretty certain I'll sell it once its on the road again and looking good. Saved up a bit of cash so I can get my hands on a R33 turbo or build that RB20DET powered onevia I've always wanted...
