  1. I am so there. I may not be skyline equipped but I will do my best to keep up. Have just finished my exams and I need to blow off some steam.
  2. ^^ Pretty much. As the turbo essentially chops up the air from the exhaust plus removes some heat it also reduces the sound. Its basically because it has removed some of the kinetic energy from the exhaust gas. N/A's are louder because the gas is not as restricted and is hotter. Or at least thats what I have been led to believe.
  3. My first car was a 253 UC torana... Make of that what you will but it was excellent because it was: - slow - hard to drive quick - handled like a bucket of angry lobsters - had no modern conveniences - was crashed (not by me) into a kia rio and just needed the paint touching up, the kia was written off - torana:1 rio: 0 - the torque made the back end quite lively, especially on wet days - the only form of safety was me, if I had crashed the crumple zone would have been my face Essentially it taught me how bad a car can be and that is a very good lesson to learn early on. Ah, just thinking about it makes me all nostalgic. I'm not saying buy a torana, I'm just saying buy something cheap, easy to maintain, that is rear wheel drive so you can learn the basic skills neccessary for operating any RWD safely. I have seen too many people step from FWD cars - lasers, 323's and so forth - into a rear wheel drive with a bit of grunt and wrap it around a pole. I would go for an N/A Silvia, they can be had cheap as chips now. Plus man your grammar really hurts my head. I don't want to have to retranslate the english language.
  4. Power is power. None of this "only milk comes in five litres" crap. Fact is that greater cubic capacity = more power potential. Building a 500 HP N/A V8 is a piece of piss. Why do mercedes/bmw/audi/nissan/lamborghini/ferrari/alfa and any other car manufacturer you care to name increase the size of their engines when looking for power? Because size DOES matter. There are ways of engineering yourself out of the capacity problem but the same methods are just as easily applied to larger capacity engines.
  5. I believe I saw everyone who is located in hobart over the last two days including an eye-damagingly green R32 parked down at the wharf near isobar.
  6. I would be hellishly keen - alas I no longer have my skyline. Might have something new by then though so stay tuned.
  7. Cool, its just sitting around, have had a bit of interest. Shoot me a PM anytime.
  8. In my opinion the colour is fine - its the rest of the car thats sh*te. Chromies and altezzas yo!
  9. Could have been - I was being driven in the opposite direction in a blown 1948 hotrod, was too busy sh*tting my pants to really pay attention to colour. Could have been black. Looked nice though.
  10. I have nearly finished writing up a pretty definitive supercharger faq. Contains a bit of history, the different supercharger designs, how they work, mounting them, power and general efficiency, some maths for calculating (estimating really) supercharger power draw and gain, plus various other bits and pieces. Looking for several brave volunteers to go through it for me once its done, warning though its fairly long.
  11. I'm feeling the 1JZ love at the moment actually. For a real straight six though - check out a L24/L26 with triple webers. Or one of those crazy tripple weber L32 strokers. They sound insane!
  12. Just bought a R31 pintara station wagon. Its dented to sh*ttery. Flakey paint. Grass stains are up around the doors where the grass was left to grow. Engine has a blown head gasket but it drives. 1 year rego which is nice though. Interior is complete and the whole driveline is surprisingly immaculate, no rust that I can see - plus its a one owner car. $400!!! Bargain. The old 400 horsepower 351 stroker that used to belong in my Falcon will be getting a new home very shortly - or a SR20DET will fit in nicely, or a cheap RB25/30. Or I'll fix it and clean it up and make a profit
  13. Pretty much as per topic, I literally have a bedroom filled with car parts and some of them have to go if I want my girlfriend to still visit me R33 T28 Picked up a couple of turbos in my quest to find one to suit my SR20DE+T project and the exhaust ratio isn't quite what I want so I bought an ex S15 ball bearing instead Anyhow, before I owned it I was assured it came off a low kilometre car (he said around 50,000 kilometres) and is very, very clean. No shaft play. No oil anywhere it shouldn't be. Has spent two months in my bedroom and has always had all inlets covered - just in case. Oil/water lines attached. Wastegate actuator looks to be good. The only thing I can think of is that the housing has been rotated. Nothing major. One or two non-essential bolts missing. Seems to be in really good condition - I haven't had it running though. $400 ono + postage. 4 X 370CC U13 SR20DET Injectors and rail Not much to say. Were on a running car, are apparantly identical to Silvia injectors. I have bought Nismo items so they are no longer required. Has fuel pressure regulator attached. Injectors are clean. $150 ono + postage Pulsar GTi-R Exhaust Manifold Another clean(ish) item. Bog standard. No longer required as I have another getting heat coated as I type. Stock cast manifold. No cracks/dents etc. Bit dusty, has been sitting around for a while. $150 ono + postage Pics up shortly (probably tomorrow morning) however they are essentially as described. I am negotiable on prices and if you are local enough (hobart/launceston) I will personally drop them off for you. PM for details. Cheers, Claye

  15. There was a noisey stagea going through sandy bay today it took a while to explain to an automotively illiterate friend that it was not in fact a volvo or saab station wagon.
  16. Im sorted now! Thanks to the people who pmd me/pointed me in the right direction. Ended up with basically a brand new T28 from a GT-R. Exhaust housing is a tad small but it should keep me out of trouble.
  17. Thanks man, I'll be heading north tonight so I'll give that bloke a call.
  18. No spoiler at all. Looks teh sex. Or a GTR one if you must.
  19. +1 Good on you for learning! Its what we are all doing really, I honestly thought this would be another "locked by admin" thread. Go a gtr or gtst once your off your p's. Especially now R33 GT-R's are getting so cheap, give it twelve/twenty four months and they will be cheaper again.
  20. My SR20DET project has stalled due to the second hand turbo having wheel damage. Thats what you get for being cheap though. I am looking for a T25/T28 bush bearing (will only be running 7psi so it doesn't bother me) turbo aka nissan silvia S13/14/15 SR20DET turbo with wastegate actuator and any attached lines if possible (just to make things simpler for me I might add). Looking to spend around the $500 mark, will stretch that budget if neccessary though. Contact me via PM, if you have something I will just about kick your door down... Nicely.
  21. Look, mate, I wasn't flaming, but somone should expect a flaming if they jump on a forum and suggest something ridiculous: such as an unopened 225 RWkW's from an N/A R33. I was stating facts: 90% of p platers seem to assume they are Michael Schumacher, surveys carried out by various sources including the csiro have shown that the vast majority of p plate drivers when asked to self assess their own driving skill respond with "above average". If you have track experience, have spent much of your life around cars and so forth, good on you and I retract any hint of you being a poor driver - which I never said in the first place. I have been driven around some tracks by some excellent p plater drivers who made me nearly poop myself. However they had grown up in families with strong motorsport ties. Plus right back at you: you call me a keyboard warrior and have no idea what I do or have done. If your going to take the higher ground at least be intelligent about it. Looking at some subsequent posts by yourself I can tell you have realised your original goal, and as a matter of fact your secondary goal of 150 RWkW probably won't happen - N/A wise the best you can hope for (I would say) is something similar to what Miss R34 has and even then it would probably be down on her figures anyhow: older engine, less technologically advanced etc. The formula for N/A power is simple and it is stickied on the N/A page: exhaust - extractors 3-2-1 type, 2 1/2 inch exhaust mandrel bent with high flow cat, middle resonator and a nice muffler intake - high flow panel because as a p plater cops WILL defect you for a pod cams - tomei poncams or similar fueling - GT-R fuel pump or walboro, along with GT-T injectors Ecu - Power FC if manual Greddy E-manage Ultimate if auto Argue over appropriate exhaust size or extractor type if you want but its essentially the same formula as modifying any carb fed V8 - more exhaust flow, more intake flow, more fuel, higher RPM, and more control.
  22. Your NA RB25 will not make 225 KW naturally aspirated for under, say, ten grand minimum. At my trade prices. Stroker kit: Tomei, 2.8 litre kit. Nearly 10 grand by itself. Cams: Needed for higher RPM breathing - RPM being the only real way to increase your power considerably. Custom ground from comp cams is around 1500+ for a pair. Independant Throttle Bodies: Can do it yourself with 4AGE ones and a modified intake, but still I would believe that alone would cost 3 grand. Exhaust: a good $1500. ECU: at these power levels neccessary - another 2 grand lets say tuned. PLUS: a slew of other components from wiring to injectors to fuel pump and everything inbetween. Even then its not gonna happen. Not without a RB30 bottom end and a modified RB26 head anyway. You say you want to do it cheap? Let me put it to you like this. Your suggesting that without spending big dollars your car will DOUBLE its stock wheel power output? Dream on. Learn to drive first, I don't care how skilled you SAY you are your still a p plater in a NA skyline i.e. nothing special (unless of course you have raced at tracks since a young age go-karts, then once you had your licence normal open track days). Do some advanced driving courses at your local track. Not THAT expensive plus they are really worth it. I'm not flaming - you don't have realistic goals. Realistically you could get, say, 130 RWkW's out of an R33 gts without spending a ridiculous amount of money. Not 225kW. Does anyone on here have a naturally aspirated stock engine size with that power? No. No they do not. Many R33 and R34 GTS-T's don't make that much power. Research first. Otherwise you just sound like an idiot.
  23. Is it just me or do the in car shots make him look like he's about to piss himself lol? You can't see his mouth but his eyes are like OH MY GOD! Also what was with the paintball dude? That is one awesome display of car and man...
