Well found out why the wastegate was not bleeding off enough gas. The diaphram was folded over and therefor was not allowing the gate to open. Was a simple fix, we also put a 10psi spring in to help. Cost me $60 to get done/fixed from a performance workshop. Which was about an hours work for the guy.

haha ah well, i'm blind as well.... just took the gate off, damn its in a bad place measured it, its a 35mm gate.....so maybe i should be buying a 38mm or 45mm.

yeah might leave the wastegate off, after i pull it off to check the spring. Phee....not good, did it happen on the dyno??

pressure signal is in the right place...same as you say. I will be taking the gate off and checking with a hand pump. There is no restriction/problems with the line to the wastegate. We had the dyno psi gauge, the avcr pressure gauge and the wolf pressure gauge all reading 18psi. But yeah, I was going to pull the wastegate off and check the spring tension anyway. I'm just hoping its big enough and the manifold doesn't need to be modified. Thanks for the help Saliya.

Ok a quick but technical question for you guys out there that do know something about skylines. Has any of you had a problem with overboosting on an external gated RB25??? The reason i ask is because it is the problem I'm having right now. Mods are as listed:- GT35/40R turbo custom manifold tial 38mm wastegate plazmamann inlet manifold 550cc injectors 040 fuel pump wolf 3d V4+ ecu hybrid intercooler (genuine) 2.5inch intercooler piping Now i'm wondering if anyone has had this problem with the engine/turbo wanting to keep making boost. The tial gate is spose to have a 1bar spring in it. You can hear it opening (screamer pipe) though the boost isn't dropping or flattening out. Do i need a bigger wastegate, as in 48mm or new manifold or what??? As with no boost controller (straight off the wastegate spring) we were getting 1.2bar at 4500rpm with only 68percent throttle. Haven't had it at 100percent throttle yet, as the engine hasn't been built for anything above 1.2bar. Anyone have any sensible suggestions???????

Good to know your still pushing ahead with the plans mate, you'll have to bring it back up to Townsville when ya finished. Maybe you could try and keep up with us

maybe i should have made myself a bit clearer, the minimum i want is 250kwatw. I'd be damn happy with anything more, as no one else in this town has done this type of stuff

Hmmm doing my own HUGE turbo conversion myself at the moment. GT35/40R, custom high mount manifold, plazmaman inlet plenum, wolf 3d v4+, tomei fuel pump, 550cc injectors, and all the other usual's. All i'm hoping for is 250rwkw, though it seems you guys/gals are getting more out of stock engines than i thought you'd wanna push. Has anyone got any dyno's in shootout mode?? Also as i've got the head off atm, would you guys/gals recommend standard head gasket, or 1.2mm or what??

I've got a 94 gts25t, and yes this is a common problem. In the gauge cluster there is a loose link for the tacho signal. As I've had this problem for years now, even when the car was standard. My easy solution is to look at your avcr/revspeed meter or you aftermarket ecu display. We found the problem in the cluster itself, just haven't bothered to fix it. Other things getting rpm signals from the ecu always work, even when your tacho doesn't. And yes a hit to the dash sometimes helps.

hmmm just cracked the 40g all up (20g for car)mark myself. As everyone knows, there's always something else you need. Yes we have cars as money pits. Just ask yaself, what else would you spend ya money on if ya didn't have a skyline ??? Maybe a house, but that's about it. If ya girlfriend or wife says you spend too much money on ya car....Tell her that you could spend a million on her but she won't do 12's down the quarter mile -
Hmmm an R33 with an electric front spoiler.... Well on the R32's if none of the buttons were pressed, at 80km/hr it would drop the spoiler. Then once back down to below 60km/hr is would raise it again. Though if the down button was pressed (this was the only one that could stay pressed in) the spoiler would stay down all the time. The main idea behind it was to aid in downforce. Though you needed it up when going in and out of driveways etc. If you have one in the R33, it is rare as. Other than that enjoy it.

hmmm good someone else is doing this diff opening too. I've got a 2way Kaaz waiting to go in. I'm a step before though, i still have the half shafts in the diff, how do you remove them???? I've got the bearing caps out, just can't figure out how to get the shafts out of the centre itself??? Any help guys??? -
