Hi Duncan, The Aeromotions Dynamic Wing has a feature that allows the wing be locked into a static position on race day specifically for events where active aero is not allowed on race day. There are a set of turnbuckles that can be used to mechanically lock the Dynamic Wing into a fixed static setting for raceday for events where active aero is not allowed. There is also a static version of the Aeromotions wing without the dynamic controller called the R2 Static Wing ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromo..._r2_static.html The dynamic version and the static version of the Aeromotions R2 Wing both use the same low drag, high efficiency wing element profile. In terms of using the Dynamic version in a locked static mode for events where active aero is not allowed on race day, the wing profile of the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing was developed from military research into wing profiles used on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's). This cutting edge wing profile provides outstanding efficiency, low drag and superior aerodynamic performance, whether it is run in active mode or locked into static mode. Teams using the Dynamic Wing in events where active aero is not allowed on race day use the wing in dynamic mode during testing with the in car remote to find the right wing setting quickly, then mechanically lock the wing with the chosen static angle of attack setting for race day. - Adam

Great results there Duncan. I saw your car during one of Wednesday's sessions at Eastern Creek and it looked great through turn one. We were at Eastern Creek on Wednesday with Mark Berry's R34 GT-R which is also now running an Aeromotions R2 Dynamic Wing ... Were you running the factory Aeromotions wing tune all day on the R35 or have you done any tuning of the wing settings yet ? Do you have a datalogger in your car ? What sort of speeds were you seeing through turn one ? - Adam

There is a thread about Enkei 18" GTC-01 wheels on NAGTROC which was started back in March 2009 ... http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=29400 We are currently checking with Enkei to get exact data from Enkei on how much caliper clearance the Enkei 18" GTC-01 wheels have if used on an R35. Hi Jeremy, The Volk Racing VR.G2 wheels are made in 16's, 17's, 18's, 19's and 20's in a range of widths and offsets. See the photos of this Australian R35 ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Cars/gtr1.html There is a closeup photo showing the wheels on that car in it's photo gallery.

Brembo are one of the most experienced specialist motorsport brake manufacturers on the planet, so if they recommend a particular minimum clearance, that minimum clearance will have been specifically chosen by Brembo for engineering reasons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brembo reads ... Brembo was established in 1961, so when Brembo make statements on minimum clearances, they are speaking as a specialist brake manufacturer that has been operating for 49 years and they are speaking from experience at the very highest levels of motorsport.

Yep the Aeromotions wing generates a lot of downforce This thread ... http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?sh...st&p=478182 ... has a photo and some info on a modification that Aeromotions did to a carbon bootlid and that post reads ... There is a photo here ... http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/34/trunkreinforcements.jpg Are you looking to keep the factory alumnium bootlid or are you going to fit a carbon bootlid long term ? - The Tuners Group

Great result Martin ! "new PB (1:13.58) being the fastest of any car by around 4 seconds per lap" with "tyres that already had a session under their belt" is an awesome result. Awesome The Aeromotions wing looks great on the car and the "downforce when you need it, low drag when you don't" effect of the wing will definitely be having a positive effect on trap speeds. What was your previous personal best lap time before this event ? Posting such high trap speeds on a 36 degree C day is extremely impressive. - The Tuners Group

Very impressive dyno results Martin. Great work on the surge tank too ! What sort of benefit did you see from the increased knock resistance of the E85 in developing your E85 custom tune ? I'm very interested to hear your experiences with the E85 on your R35. For anyone interested, there are a couple of articles here that mention the knock resistance of E85 ... http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/hrdp_08...ctane_rate.html http://saefuel.saejournals.org/content/2/1/670.abstract What boost levels are you running for the 93 octane tune (vs boost levels in the E85 custom tune) in those dyno overlays ? Great to see another Aeromotions Dynamic Wing on a GT-R (we're Aeromotions Australian and NZ distributor). Give us a call if you have any setup questions or tuning questions etc with the Aeromotions wing Martin - we're more than happy to help with support etc. Have you had the car out on a track yet with the new wing ? - The Tuners Group

Hi Nick, Like any technological leap forward, there are always people who want to see detailed results data, so we're more than happy to provide data to back up the time saving results being achieved by teams running the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing ... Aeromotions did back to back testing at Thunderhill Raceway on an E36 BMW, which produced the following lap time results: Without Aeromotions Wing: 2 minutes 10.1 seconds With Aeromotions Static Wing: 2 minutes 9.2 seconds With Aeromotions Dynamic Wing: 2 Minutes 8.4 seconds With Aeromotions Dynamic Wing With Centre Fence: 2 minutes 7.7 seconds. Lap times with the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing With Centre Fence were 1.5 seconds a lap faster than with a static wing, and 2.4 seconds faster than without an Aeromotions wing. Click here to see the back to back testing video with Traqmate Data Acquisition for yourself. ... http://aeromotions.com/gallery/videos/ There is a summary here of the data and info about the car, driver and testing methodology ... http://aeromotions.com/the-data/ A detailed turn by turn data analysis can be found here, which includes plots turn by turn of the lateral G-force, acceleration and braking G-force, velocity, and time difference ... http://aeromotions.com/the-data/thunderhill-turn-by-turn/ COMMENTS FROM TEAMS RUNNING THE AEROMOTIONS DYNAMIC WINGS If you take a look at the comments from teams who are running the Aeromotions wings at http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromotions.html you will see that the comments mentioning lap time improvements on the Budez R35, the Forged Perfomance R35 and the 997RS are comments which people using the Aeromotions wings have posted themselves on Nagtroc and elsewhere ... In terms of the Budez R35, http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?sh...mp;#entry471848 reads ... For the new Aeromotions Dynamic Wing RS, http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/gt3-gt2...wing-moves.html reads ... In terms of the Forged Perfomance R35, http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?sh...st&p=472311 reads ... The most recent post on the Forged website reads ... RECORDS BROKEN BY CARS RUNNING AEROMOTIONS WINGS In addition, the records broken by cars running Aeromotions wings speak for themselves ... http://aeromotions.com/2009/05/cannonball-...lap-of-america/ reads ... http://aeromotions.com/2009/07/ams-evo-claims-track-record/ reads ... Bottom line is that the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing works, teams using the Aeromotions wing have openly published comments themselves on various forums stating how well it works with details on lap time improvements that they have experienced, and there is a wealth of data to back up Aeromotions' test results. The wing profile of the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing was developed from military research into wing profiles used on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's). This cutting edge wing profile provides outstanding efficiency, low drag and superior aerodynamic performance for your car. What you are seeing is simply a big leap forward in racing aero technology that has come about as a combination of research at the wind tunnel at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) the world's premier private research and engineering university, countless hours of refinement through Computational Fluid Dynamic modeling (CFD), and the vision of some very very smart engineers. As mentioned above, you can expect to see the Aeromotions Dynamic Wings on a number of cars in Australia in the new year, so you'll be able to see the results on Australian tracks firsthand yourself. - The Tuners Group -
Aeromotions Dynamic Wing
TheTunersGroup replied to Downforce's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Hi GTTR34, Yeah the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing is extremely cool technology and is used on a number of top time attack cars including the Crawford STi, the AMS/NOS Energy Drink EVO X, and on the Cannonball R35, the Forged Performance R35, and the Budez R35. There are some comments here from the drivers of those cars on how well it works ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromotions.html The static version of the Aeromotions R2 wing is also extremely effective and can be upgraded to dynamic operation later on. There is an interesting link to Nissan with the active aero. The active split wing was pioneered by Nissan on the R381 (shown above) which won the 1968 Japanese Grand Prix. Expect to see the Aeromotions Dynamic Wings on a number of cars in Australia in the new year The Tuners Group is the exclusive factory authorised distributor of Aeromotions products in Australia and New Zealand. - The Tuners Group -
Hi Snowman, You're right in that it is definitely a personal thing - some drivers prefer fixed paddles, some prefer moving paddles. In a track environment many drivers are going to aim to get their downchange and braking done before turn in on most corners, so the next upshift isn't until the car is exiting the corner, and unless the driver has got the corner wildly wrong, then the driver should be well aware of where the moving paddles are on exit. Some drivers use a driving style where they shift gears mid corner. There is a thread on NAGTROC about our Works Bell Paddle Shifter bundles for the R35 here ... http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=35346 It reads ... Personally i think that is why the R35 is so good, it changes gears so fast, it does not upset the balance of the car. You don't need to plan your shifts arounds turns as much. I change gears mid-corner often. One of the best things about this car. GTRworld tested an R35 with a paddle shifter that rotates with the steering wheel. They wrote about it ... Similarly F1 cars use movable paddles, so there are clear advantages to movable paddles - if there wasn't then F1 cars would not run them. As I said above though, it's a personal choice if someone prefers movable paddles or fixed paddles. There is no right or wrong answer. - The Tuners Group

Hi Dom, The R35 bosses are different to the R34, R33 bosses etc and are not interchangeable. There are two types of R35 bosses depending on if you want to use a quick release or not. GTRblog.com featured one of our R35 short bosses in this article about the Works Bell paddle shifter and quick release bundles for the R35 ... http://www.gtrblog.com/2009/11/21/works-be...or-nissan-gt-r/ Works Bell also make a standard length R35 boss ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Online_Store/GT-R_R35_Boss.html Are you looking for a short boss so that you can use a quick release or a standard length boss ? - Adam

Hi Dazmo, We have been finalising pricing this week. Pricing for our US customers is here ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromo...pricing_US.html AUSTRALIAN PRICING As I wrote earlier in this thread, "As always, our Australian pricing will be as close as possible to prices in the US where Aeromotions is based." Australian prices ex shipping will be roughly equivalent to the US prices above plus import duty and GST. The landed price will vary slightly depending on which part of Australia a wing is being delivered to. We can arrange customs clearance etc so that customers do not need to deal with the time consuming process of doing a formal customs entry, which also helps our customers avoid the lengthy delays that can happen in customs clearance. Our customs broker is currently checking on the exact duty rates etc so that we can have exact Australian prices. Similarly our shipping companies are working out the best options for shipping. They should all be finalised this week. Given that the S2 Static Wing is priced for our US customers at US$1699 and this post posted by a driver with an S2 Static Wing on an R35 GT-R http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?sh...st&p=472311 reads ... ... that's very good value for a potential drop in lap time of that magnitude. - The Tuners Group

Hi Dazmo, For all models of the Aeromotions wings, a universal version is available as well as the model specific versions. So currently the available versions of each wing are: - Nissan Skyline R35 GT-R - BMW 3 series E36 - BMW 3 series E46 - Corvette C5 - Honda S2000 - Mitsubishi Evolution 8 - Mitsubishi Evolution 9 - Universal version The single element R2 Static weighs 5.7 kg (12.5 lb) The single element R2 Dynamic Wing weighs 7.9 kg (17.5 lb) The split element S2 Dynamic Wing weighs just 4.7 kg (11.0 lb) The weight savings on the S2 Dynamic are achieved by using teardrop shaped uprights from an airplane, Formula 1 grade dry pre-preg carbon fiber, and titanium internals. We have put together a comparison matrix for each of the wings here, showing specs, weight comparisons etc for all the Aeromotions wings ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromotions_matrix.html The pages with full product info about each wing are also now online ... The single element R2 Static is here ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromo..._r2_static.html The single element R2 Dynamic Wing is here ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromotions_r2.html The split element S2 Dynamic Wing is here ... http://www.tunersgroup.com/Products/aeromotions_s2.html NEW VIDEOS We have also added 4 videos of the Dynamic Wing in action.
