missing problem... advice please??
BryanB replied to WHITE R32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah when i had a boost leak my car would cut out above 16 psi, its just the limit that they will go before something cuts out in my case i think the ECU cuts it out. not too sure on this as i don't like boosting my car that high anyway as it will blow my turbo -
might be a ****ed turbo that is almost blown up, if anyone opens their oil cap when the motor is hot then yeah a bit of steam will come out as the ****ing motor gets very hot.... draining your oil and checking the colour is a good thing to do, that will at least tell you if your up for a new head gasket or not.... as for piston rings i wouldn't know most engines do not need rebuilds until at least 250 000, especially RB's as they are really strong motors... but yeah since you dont' really know what is going on, i would take it to a mechanic ASAP, one that works with imports of course..... also try not boosting it at all and see if you lose much oil.... but yeah driving it around daily may not be a good idea man as i have learnt in the past that if there is a problem you should sort it out before it ends up costing you too much

THIS LOW RPM ENGINE STALLING SAGA POSSIBLY SORTED
BryanB replied to BOOSTMEISTER's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hmmm i check the ECU disconnected it then cleaned it ECC and then replugged it back and took the car for a good flogg and it hasn't cut out since that, strange..... any reasons why im thinking a lost connection at the ECU.... but also what does resetting your ECU and giving it a good caining do? -
woops its 27000, man thats a tad bit much for a R33 with a kit + chromies + zorst...
-
bbq how much for that?

THIS LOW RPM ENGINE STALLING SAGA POSSIBLY SORTED

i got this problem cept mine sounds more like baby zilla's problem and r31, i have an r32 and i recently got this problem real bad, but i already changed my AFM connection plugged and cleaned my AFM out but that helped a lot but it seems to cut out every now and then which is really annoying, so maybe i shoudl maybe swap test another AFM or check grounds from the ECU? i have also cleaned my AAC and did that fuel pump trick, the car i feel has a little more power, but yeah i got new plat plugs and cleaned my coil packs and also changed fuel filter, so im elimiinating the possibilties..... any help would be appreciated. bryan -
i have had this problem for a while, it has not been a worry until recently (it has gotten worse), the car seems to just clonk out randomly at any speed, and before 5000 rpm... the engine just cuts out and cuts back in sometimes but other times it doesn't come back in, but nothing else cuts out like the lights and stereo are still on... its got me buggered i recently changed the stock air filter for an air pod and put platinum spark plugs in, this seems to have stopped the problem a bit, but not eliminate it.... another thing i have noticed that from a cold start the motor will cough and choke like its got lung cancer, but after the cold start it will start ok. any help would be much appreciated -bryan

lol yeah you must be a short ass its not hard to reverse.... but yeah 6x9's or splits arn't hard to fit, just got to give it a go, however if its your first go at it and you feel like your going to make a mess of it (don't want that in a skyline ) then practice in a bomb or get your mate to give you a hand.... -bryan
-
i agree with booster 12mm is good enough for 6.5 inch splits, you can resize the original trim to fit if you want, however just remember that splits sound different to 6x9's in the rear, i personally like 6x9's in the rear because it offers tighter bass to go from the sub. the reason why people put splits all round there car is simply for competition, thus the cross over network sends high frequenices to the tweeter and low frequencies to the woofer enabling less distortion then 6x9's..... however in a car that is only used for in car audio 6x9's honestly sound good when mounting them in the rear they are not that hard to do, if you want i can put them in for you (if you are on the coast and give me a slab of beers)... and mtopx would of been better if you got them tilted at 30-45 degrees as well -bryan

dude your whole chassis is negative, so you can ground your amplifier to any conductive material that is attached to your chassis, it will carry negative energy, when 'blowing' things up it has to have a power current running through it thus the need of positive but you counteract such things buy having inline fuses..... -bryan

doesn't the stock ecu cut fuel out if run more then 14.something psi boost? i dunno but it sounds like a fuel cut to me...
