Hello all, I have just imported a Nissan Cube. My priorities have changed and need money for house now. It is just having compliance finished off this week I have been told by the workshop. Car will be sold with registration. This is the first 1.5l to be complianced in Vic and is one of only a few 1.5l cubes in Vic (none on carsales atm). The 1.5l is said to be more efficient with fuel, has more power and sits at a much lower rev while cruising on the highway. Would make a really fun daily while the GTR sits in the garage for the weekend. The car looks like new and I had to raise my bid at auction significantly to get a quality car. The series 2 gets a bunch of updates including white dials, different grill, headlights, rear tails, etc. 2006 Nissan Cube cubic 7 seater Series 2, 1.5l cvt Black 4B Auction Grade - paid top dollar, auction sheet for proof 45,000km with dereg certificate and service history for proof Excellent condition in and out (looks new on inside) Smart key - dont need to use key to start Full electrics Dark interior Auto headlights Leather steering wheel Foglights $13,500 Neg Phone pics, will upload better later, Hubcaps are in the car. But would look pretty nice with some mesh rims instead

The Wasteland - ACT Style
BigWillieStyles replied to krzysiu's topic in Australian Capital Territory
I'm in the same boat. Except my compliance shop refuses to communicate with me at all and has never called me back.I am going to my workshop in the morning and am considering a commonwealth ombudsman case with DOTARS if they are the issue. -
I disagree with all of the above. I found my mid-20s to be the best time to afford a sports cars. In your thirties, you may have a family, a mortgage or other commitments and it makes ownership of a decent sports coupe difficult to justify. I had an FD rx7 as a car for my first job out of Uni. I have never owned a GTR, but I cant imagine it being any more expensive to maintain as long as you get a clean example. Insurance is always going to be expensive but if you shop around it can work out. I would aim to purchase the best you can afford with the money you have.

What will cost is the tax which you are charged three times during the process. Twice at a federal level and once at a state level. This will be based not on what you paid, but by an evaluation at the time of import. Still well worth it.

Ive done 2 personal imports! Are you aware that Dotars have changed the rules so that you would have to return with the car to live in Australia. European cars will sell fine as long as you purchase something that will be in demand in Australia. Remember to go with a Rhd car as many cheap euro makes in japan are lhd. My top choices would include a turbo porsche, any TVR or top spec BMW. My choices

Hey mate, Im in Melbourne. Did you use Autohub? Our cars probably did come in on the same shipment. I reckon i would be ok with this wait if there was decent communication and clear justification why it has taken a month since they told me they sent off for the plates. Btw, Im pretty sure that the RAWS team are contracted out by Dotars and are not public servants.

They may be! I am starting to find the wait a bit too long. I have called them twice and each time get the run around that the car has been inspected and the paperwork sent off. They have suggested i am being impatient. Dotars says the same crap about not being able to declare information to a third party. What is with this?

Personally i wouldnt touch are car from Parramatta road. Have a look on fdrx7.com, they have been checking vins and found lots of cars that had changed kms and history of accidents. Ask for auction sheet and deregistration certificate. If they cant provide, walk away. They may tell you that they dont come with these but this is not true.

Honda prelude BB4! It was my first car, and I am currently borrowing the same car as a daily at the moment. With some similar mods, the car feels tight and sounds great. The represent excellent value for money.

The kms arent being wound back in Japan. The auctions arent just for foreign markets, they are for local markets. If Japanese change the kms, and put the car back up for auction, it will easily be seen from the de-registration papers that the car kms are not correct. The kms are being changed somewhere after purchasing at the buyers request. I disagree about the log book thing. These could easily go missing in the transit to Aus. Just make sure the seller is open and happy to provide de-registration certificate and the auction sheet.

I am sick of Insurance companies not knowing shit about imports and just being rude. Just got off the phone with Shannons. You would think that people who deal with imports daily would have been given some sort of training about imports and the costs involved. They were trying to tell me that they would only insure for the value of the cars purchase in Japan. Also they were not aware that Japanese Vins are just serial numbers with 6 numbers and that they are added to on arrival. They kept questioning me why their Japanese vehicle has 17 digits. Sick of ignorant people! They were so rude about it, I am thinking about changing insurance companies.
