  1. budget isnt really a concern. As I said the downside to rb25's is the weight of the engines. I still want to retain some form of handling and they are by far the heavier engine of the lot and will require internal work to be done sooner if i end up chaseing more power. As a 1j or 2j may be more costly to install, they have alot more room for power without cracking open the engine.
  2. everything but front is tinted, yeh havent been pulled over yet but you actually have trouble seeing outside the car in daylight the tint is so dark lol.
  3. 2nd is gana be a pain for me. Sorry bout that whitey, wont let me edit my posts so can change date on above posts :S
  4. deffinetly not a track car, or else id look at an sr20. Mostly as a daily driver and for a bit of fun/project. Mostly as its something to work on myself and get some self satisfaction out of besides the few ovbious bits and pieces like wiring etc. What I will do once I get the rest of the panels and start sanding/prepping the car for spray is start a post up on progress.
  5. oh its a project that will happen over time and i have more than enough funds to support it. Mostly I want to do the majority of the work myself for the satisfaction. Added bonuses of the 1uz are the weight in comparison to the rest of the engine I have stated, there alot lighter suprisingly. And seem to be a very nice fit into s13 enginebay, there cheap as you stated above. Supercharge maybe with ITB's i dunno.
  6. hats what MOST people seem to do, few out there with bigger engines. 800cc jsut doesnt seem to cut it for me
  7. So recently Ive picked up a fairly damaged s13 for a project car, mechanicly the car seems fine but the panels on the car are wrecked and I have almost finished the process of replacing the wrecked panels and will be giving the car a respray. My goal is to use the car as a daily driver (so i ca garage my 34 to drive on sundays), but also use as a sleeper. Of course Im going to be doing an engine conversion but to decide the type of engine im going to put in the car is seeming to be almost to difficult for me. So here are a few ideas that have come to mind, and please take note that the car needs to be automatic. 1jz 2jz rb25 1uz rb20 these are jsut a few engines ive had in mind. currently im leaning towrds the 1uz as its something a bit different, 1uz s13's are rarely put together, and the engines are strong and i can lean towards either turbo or supercharge. 1jz,would be the obvious way to go as th engines are quite strong and standard internals can handle quite a bit of power as im looking at keeping the engine relatively standard and not opening it up, im aiming more towards an affective power to weight ratio and the 1jz are quite light in comparison to an rb25. R25 would be a more straight forward instalation, I have more experiance with the rb25, I have parts lying around that would make good upgrades for the engine but with the engine being a bit heavier than the others Im concerned about the weight distrabution and would prefer not to hafto do too much to the firewall to even up the weight. 2jz, from what I understand these are a difficult engine to put into the silvia, the sump is a problem so you need to find a 2j from an aristo for a good match and i dont know of any conversion kits made for the 2j and s13 body. rb20, tough as guts but lots of potential but will require alot more money put into it to get it making the power im looking for. Positives are this conversions been done a million times before into s13's and parts are redily available. So just wondering what everyone elses opinions are and/or ideas.
  8. everyones forgetting the obvious sleeper/conversion. Suzuki mighty boy with a 3cyl turbo starlet engine or 1.6ltr honda crx vtec. They do those vtec conversion in minis in the UK so im guessing it can be done in a mighty boy. If i remember correctly there was a mighty body conversion done for auto salon one year with a v6 from a hi ace or somethin, car ran a mid 9 second pass lol but what do you expect from a 300kg car.
  9. So as the ittle states I thought Id start a thread out of curiosity on what people like to display on there avcr when driving. Ill start first. Boost, speed, Rev.
  10. yeh unfortunetly just one fo those things, could possibley need your cold start re done. But if its anything like mine, biger injectors, fuel reg that doesnt hold pressure when cars turned off, just annoying little things.
  11. Mine does it also, think its jsut the bigger injectors, do you have an aftermarket fuel reg? if your running a turbosmart fuel reg they dont hold pressure in the lines when you turn the car off, makes it a bit of a bitch to start up again, what i do i just turn the ignition on and prime the fuelpump, then kick the car over.
  12. Its completely normal, its jsut unburnt fuel spitting out the exhaust hitting it and igniting giving a little pop as t comes out. Computer and tune should fix it, other than that mine does it and my cars tuned etc so... some people like it some people dont, me personally i dont mind it.
  13. im just about to change my kit from cwest front, sides and bomex rear to do luck front, bomex sides and rear.. IMHO its one of the better looking kits out there, ive never really been into bit kits on 34's but never really appreciated the standard kits either... i think you can never go wrong with bomex sides and rear but do luck front bar gives 34 great presence. although u can forget about speed bumps, steep driveways, most shopping centres, maccas, and hit and runs on small children... cause the ground clearance aint exactly optimal.
  14. i think youd be surised on how fast they get taken. Tried a few wreckers yesterday but to no prevail. Anyone know if you can use 33 gtr or 32 gtr bovs? and do they required any modifications?
  15. I think youd be suprised on how fast they get taken. Tried a few wreckers yesterday and to no prevail. They all got non turbo 34's in and thats all can you use r33 gtr or 32 gtr BOV??? any modifications required
  16. nah mate, had the hks one on it when i purchased the car.
  17. yeh will do, is there any particular trick to putting stock back on or is it relatively basic?
  18. haha yeh id ditch it if it had a problem, bought the car with it on there. Guess it still doesnt solve the problem of the surge while on boost. Wrong turbo for my engine I guess.
  19. Im starting to wonder if my problem is being caused by my BOV hks ssqv, i believe there atmo bovs. Hrmm anyone with an idea? no one seems to be able to pin point where my problem is. I dont hear the bov sound anymore sinze the turbo upgrade... no pshhh just a dut dut dut dut dut sound when i come off the accelerator but i assumed that was due to running more boost.
  20. i guess if its an aftermarket piece you would be noticing a hell of a lot of lag if it doesnt have things like injectors and AFM etc etc, thats also making the assumption its a bigger turbo than the 34 standard turbo. Get some pics up of the engine bay... i dunno if the 33's had nissan stamped on them did they? maybe its a turbo of a 33. I dunno jsut taking wild guess... new engine? or origional engine?
  21. imh appy to go for a cruise that weekend, still got no idea where to go though as im not very familiar with the area.
  22. man if your goin for that sort of power, get the gearbox rebuilt, get a shift kit and then you can use a stand alone ECU not to mention the numerous other amounts of problems your going to have with this engine going for that kinda power. Your gana need a plenum and TB, your gana need to remove the TCS, then your up for a stand alone ECU again. If you chasing that kinda power, get the gearbox rebuilt with a shift kit, power fc or haltech or wahtever tickles your fancy a decent stall kit and you will be set to go.
  23. i dont mind the cwest front bar but i have been looking into the do luck front bar
  24. If your going to get change the fluid Id recommend getting a service done with new filter etc. And I wouldnt be doing that yourself enless you have experiance with these auto gearboxes. The pan etc have different size and length bolts holding it together and if you put them back in the wrong spot you can lock up the auto and do all kinds of damage. Engine oil is one thing but servicing these gearboxes should be left to someone experianced or a proffesional.
