G'day all, Well I was going to wait until it was all done and dusted, but it would be the epic post of 2012. So I thought Id break up my Hypergear experience into a couple of posts; Car is a Series 2 R33 with the following relevant mods - 3" exhaust with metal cat - Blitz return flow front mount - Xtreme Cushion Button clutch - Splitfire coil packs - Alloy intake pipe with standard airbox After running the standard turbo at 10psi for ages, I decided to try a Hypergear and bought the following goodies for the upgrade; - Hypergear PU highflow (non SS1) - S15 450(480)cc injectors - Z32 AFM - Gizzmo boost controller So the car was pulled apart and turbo ordered. It took around 3 weeks for the turbo to arrive which gave me plenty of time to deal with some other little jobs; I decided to replace all of the exhaust studs, as 2 had snapped in the head. - Action Thread Repair came and pulled the broken studs out for $150 - New studs and a manifold gasket from Hornsby Nissan (great blokes) came to around $150 - The manifold REFUSED to go back on, so i needed to die grind the bolt holes out. This irritated ths shit out of me, as the manifold CAME OFF THERE a week earlier. Anyway, beware of this! I also took the time to fit new injectors and seals - Full set of Injector seals from Hornsby Nissan was $67 - One broken pintle cap replaced Once the turbo arrived it was fitted up with relative ease. I note the following in terms of fitment; - The water lines need to be 'encouraged' to fit. Mine seemed to fit okay with only a bit of massaging. - The standard oil drain fitted and worked fine - The dump pipe comes close to, but does not touch the air con drain. I heat wrapped the downpipe anyway. - The whole exhaust was pushed backwards about 0.5- 1 inch - It came with a standard compressor housing so my existing metal intake pipe fitted, but made it sit a little higher than normal. With the piping all back on, the only fitment issue was with the whole piping arrangement now sitting higher. This meant that the standard crossover pipe does not fit down flush with its mounting bracket and the airbox snorkel no longer fits without hitting the bonnet. However, I'm sure I can massage/ manouevre it all to fit! With it all fitted and running, the only noticable difference was that the exahust was alot deeper and louder. Oh, and that heatwrap f*&%ing stinks. With that all done and sorted I had TOSHI come out to fit the temporary ECU before dyno tuning in a couple of weeks. TOSHI is a great bloke and I look forward to working with him in the coming weeks! First run on the road and the car feels pretty good. There is nothing under about 4000 RPM, but from there boost builds quite quickly and it feels pretty quick. I am hanging out to get it tuned!! Ultimately, it has been a little more costly than anticipated (to date) but that is to be expected. Hopefully all goes well on the dyno and no further headaches arise! Anyway, just thought Id put my $0.02 up here in case anyone is interested. Ill post up pics once it's all done. Cheers Chris

Hi all, I have my Just Jap Cooling pro return-flow intercooler kit for sale. Has been on the car for a year or so and is in good condition. There are the usual bent fins and the odd scratch/dent here and there but NO structural damage and NO leaks. Had it running 10psi on my R33 with no problems. Piping painted matte black. Quick sale is a good sale! $250 Pickup from Carlingford, NSW Can meet somewhere locally too if required. Any other info PM or sms me O41O 828 23O Cheers Chris

Wtb: Exhaust Housing For Rb25 Turbo

There is a PCV hose that is plumbed into the rocker cover near the front of the plenum. It is connected via a push-in one-way valve. Mine sometimes has a hiss from there- maybe have a look at that? Might have dislodged it/damaged it when replacing injectors. If not, shoot it with a 12 gauge but leave one in the pipe in case the snakes are hunting in pairs.

Was that toe to toe? -
Hi guys, For sale is an OEM RB25DET cast manifold with an external wastegate flange welded onto it. Really nice welding job, done professionally. Bought it but never got around to fitting it to the car. The flange is a 2-bolt TiAL style flange. Manifold is in good condition and there are no cracks as far as I can see. $100 ono- pickup preferred from Carlingford NSW. Can meet in nearby area if required. Cheers, Chris

The car does see some track duties and is a weekender only at this stage. To be honest though, it was really designed to obscure the intecooler and piping and to tidy up the engine bay. That said, I did vainly hope that it would improve cooling. I am considering buying an aftermarket water temp gauge anyway, so if i ever do i will report back with results.

Bosch 040 For Sale/swap
Yeedogga replied to Yeedogga's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Open to offers :-) -
I had similar thoughts to the OP... I made a diversion panel which effectively blocks off the grille airflow to the radiator and means all frontal air must pass through the intercooler before it gets to the rad. Spose it means the grille air is just going into the engine bay/intake snorkel. I also ran some alloy sheet under the cooler so there is now a sealed undertray from cooler duct (series 2 r33) right through to the plastic radiator undertray. I have no idea if it works or not, but it does look pretty :-) Havent noticed any difference in engine temps but i only have the standard gauge so who knows!

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
Yeedogga replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Another vote for Kumho Ecsta KU31's. I have had them on my ECR33 in 225/45R17 with a slight stretch on a 9" rim. Run them on two track days- one at Marulan (Wet track) and one at Wakefield (dry track) I was thoroughly impressed with these tyres, especially given that they are a true, basic street tyre and only cost $150 per corner!! Wet grip at Marulan was truly impressive. They did start to get a bit hot at Wakefield and suffered accordingly. On the road they are quiet and seem to be wearing very well (Hard to tell as its a weekend car) In all likelihood I am going to upgrade to a semi-slick for the next track outing, but would not hesitate to run with these again! Overall, great value for money IMHO. -
Thanks to all the organisers, Saturday was such an awesome event! Great weather, awesome amount of track time and faultless administration! It was my first time at Wakefield and I am so glad I took the opportunity to thrash the car a bit. Most pleased that the car made it home under its own power as well :-) I also had great success with my el-cheapo lap timer- i will post up details in the Lap Timer thread asap. Cheers

Form and money sent.. woo hoo! -
I have been thinking about this myself recently- thinking of buying one of these and testing it out; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ezlap-lap-timer-infrared-ultrared-racing-track-day-/250786252418?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item3a64068682 For that price, if it doesn't work - who cares!

Hi guys, In the process of clearing out our garage, have got these wheels for sale. I will be putting up a larger thread soon with other items so stay tuned! Wheel Specs: BBS Mesh 15 x7" +38 offset 5x114.3 These are really light weight wheels- they are in reasonably good condition, with some gutter rash. I think they are from a series 4 RX7 but not entirely sure. $50 pickup from Eastwood, NSW Cheers

How To: Bosch 040 Fuel Pump In R33 Skyline Si / Sii
Yeedogga replied to DRFT33's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Yep, the entire pump and terminals are submerged. I am now going down the path of covering all the wiring with fuel safe heatshrink -
Im in Sydney will 16 gauge be enough to run the pump? Im thinking ill need at least 14-12ga?
