  1. Im in Sydney will 16 gauge be enough to run the pump? I would jave thought that i would need at least 14-12ga
  2. Hi all, Does anyone know a place (Syd preferably) i can source some PTFE/ teflon insulated wire to re-wire my 040? Seems like PVC insulated wire does not like fuel very much. Cheers!
  3. Warning: Thread resurrection!! Just an important tip for anyone doing this; Do not use regular heat shrink/ wire when hooking up the pump. I just pulled out my 040 after almost 2 years (because the fuel pump fuse kept blowing). Turns out the heatshrink used on the wire joints had been dissolved by the fuel and was non existant. Consequentially, the bare wires were shorting and blowing the fuse (potentially dangerous) The wire i used is also looking worse for wear and brittle. I am now trying to source some PTFE (teflon) insulated wire for the job.
  4. My view is that even with an engineering certificate, there is still a general power for the police to issue a defect notice for certain things that breach vehicle standards/ ADR's; Examples would include: Atmo BOV's, excessively loud exhausts, Pod filters, turbo bell-mouths, window tinting, ground clearance etc. Basically, I think people should err on the side of caution if they are relying on an engineering certificate is a cover-all that will prevent defects. It will definitely help but may not always fix the problem. Just my $0.02
  5. +1 Good pickup! Haha! I used to sell those things years ago (when they were all the rage!)
  6. Hi all, As per topic, looking for a drivers side, bottom mount seat rail to suit an R33. Located in Syd ideally. Cheers
  7. Fixed! haha- aint no AWD-style understeering shenanigans here!
  8. Thought id jump on the YouTube bandwagon! This is taken from my 'black box' recorder i bought online. Its not super good quality but its a neat little recorder with built-in GPS and stuff! Commentary in the video is courtesy of my mate Tom in the passenger seat hahaha
  9. What an awesome day- as a track day virgin this was a real experience! Thanks to the organisers for such a great day! Having experinced drivers on hand to give tips was really worthwhile as well. Apart from some fuel pump fuse woes, i had an absolute blast! The car was heaps better than i thought it would be too :-) See y'all at the next track day!!
  10. Whats the plan if it rains??!
  11. Yeah, they arent my first choice but the most readily available at short notice. Is the idea to get them super hot when bedding in? Tjere seem to be different schools of thought..
  12. Hi guys, My car off at my mechanic's joint this morning for a service and a once over before the SAUNSW MDTC day on the weekend. I would normally do the above myself, and with plenty of time to spare. Unfortunately I have been 'stuck' (for want of a better word!) at Bathurst for the last 2 weeks... Aanyway, so it seems i need new pads and rotors as my spanner man thinks the pads might not last the day. Im just going to get him to throw some RDA slotted and Bendix Ultimates on it So, whats the best way to have the brakes bed in and ready to run for Sat morning? I am going to drive the car down to Marulan from Syd (2 hour drive)- if i give them a bit of welly on the way down will that be enough? Cheers
  13. Thread revival... Awesome!
  14. If you get tired of bumping the thread every few days, my offer still stands on the diffuser ;-)
  15. The work I had done was roughly the same as the going rate for a second hand box. Really good value considering that it was a drive-in-drive-out proposition, and the fact that a second hand box could be rooted already.
  16. Hi Guys, Just thought I would post up my experience with Award Diff and Gearbox, which was recommended to me by other SAU'ers I have just had my ECR33 there this week having the gearbox reconditioned as it was crunching badly at high revs. The guys there are consummate professionals and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Terry took the time to explain the problem and and give me options in terms of the solution. Trish kept me informed throughout the week about what was happening with the car. This is a welcome change to the usual mechanic treatment. The price was good and the service was impeccable. I haven't put any real miles on the gearbox yet but I'm confident there will be no issues. As a rule I really dislike taking my car anywhere to get work done, but I would absolutely recommend these guys if you need any gearbox/diff work done. Cheers Chris http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Companies/Award-Diff-Gearbox-Services
  17. Better be careful driving it in summer... might have overheating problems! :-P F***ing incredible work!
  18. Hmm. I dont really want it to sit too low (as im not partucularly tall!!) i just dont want the seat to be on a backwards lean. I can see the lean being a problem with the seat i want to get. Its a fixed back seat that has alot of under- thigh padding and a deep arse pit. If its leaning back ill never be able to get out haha!
  19. Photo to show what I mean;
  20. Hi all, i bought some bottom mount seat rails a while back. They were autotecnica ones which i have since sold. However, i remember that when they were fitted in the car (without seat on) they sat on a serious angle ( the front end was significantly higher than the rear) is this normal for a 'low mount' seat rail? I cant help but wonder that it would make a fixed back seat sit on a serious backward lean.. IMG_0363.JPG I want to buy somr bride rails and im curious if it wil be the same.. Thoughts?
  21. As per title, Just after a passenger- side weathershield for my R33. It took off on the freeway and didn't come back! Cheers
  22. Signed up and pumped!
  23. Cool ill do that cheers
