  8. is the cobra maf compatable with the nistune program? and if it is. Is it any better than a q45?
  9. is a q45 air flow meter at a higher level than a Cobra afm? Is the cobra airflow meter in the list on the nistune choices?
  10. so fa sure the rb20det is not IHI?
  11. I know it can be quite difficult to explain but is there a manual or some form of info that one can download to read up on what can be adjusted and played with and in what moderation can one change figures when tuning with nistune. the do's and don't s of adjusting timing and changing fuel maps and the works. i am looking for something beyond base tuning. thanx in advance
  12. need some heads up as to the type of turbo a stock rb20det comes with. I know it's ceramic but someone asked me if its IHI. need some info as to what is IHI. is it a technology with the internal design or ..........
  13. any new nistune rbs in the family and willing to share the experience?
  14. if wanting to do a quick check to rule out some main parts 1. check to see that when the a\c is turned on the entire face of the compressor spins 2. if first test is passed there are two hoses entering the firewall behind the stock turbo one above the other switch off and plug them off and join with a small pipe and hose clamps. test the a\c again. if it cools you can rule out the compressor, the condensor, the dryer, the need for gas and a few other things. if not you will have to resort to the previous problems stated in the posts
  15. that happens sometimes because of slack connection. the result would be the firing of only 5 coils firing. the car will drive but with less power and the subi sound. the engine will become unbalanced hence unstable causing vibration 1. slack connection on the air flow meter. pins not making contact etc. 2. slack connection on one of the injector plug on 3. slack connection on the right hand side of the igniter (the end going to the plugs) because current is flowing from pin to pin sometimes if not connected properly when the car shakes too much, it will happen and act back normal because of the arcing of the current flowing. the best bet is when this is happening fly the bonnet and check connections one by one to see which one stops it. if you are able to use a 12 volt tester you can also check the connection to the coils itself. dont rule out any parts but i doubt those are any trouble. the muffler has nothing much to do with how the engine reacts in this situation. without the muffler the engine can feel and sound very smooth.
  16. MY BAD i was going the wrong way but question though when the controller is fully tightened what amount of boost should i be getting? is it the spring rate and no lower? thats what mixed me up caz i tightened it and i am getting close to 10lbs is this correct then?
  17. is it possible that the mixture of fuel and air can caz the car not to pass a set amount of boost?
  18. i really cant believe it!!! that change is only on your mines computer or is that the change done to all mines computers. caz my friend has a mines tuned computer and when placed on the car its like it revealed its true potential. the car got really aggressive. the problem i find with the mines were i live the best we get is 90 octane and they are normally tuned for much more than that and in most cases it wont be tuned for your car. thumbs up to mines but hands up to nistune so what about the mines skyline?
  19. thanx maan my question is answered i need to go back and check the car now for some leak or part damaged. i am using a turbo XS boost controller on a hks wastegate with 10lb spring. the screw on the controller is fully tightened and i am getting almost 10lbs i figure more or less that i am having a prob caz i am almost sure i went higher than 10lbs with the same waste gate. i am not sure as yet but i dont think i am loosing boost really got to check it out.
  20. dont want to sound stupid or anything but if you dont know its better to ask having a 10lb spring in a wastegate will allow for ONLY 10lb of boost or will a boost controller be able to give more? or is it that the boost controller can only control between 1 to 10? more boost higher lb spring
  21. yeah matt that little bit of info is coming straight from there thats why i said just a little extra reading thanx
  22. INTRODUCTION Base Image Programmer All NIStune real-time boards require the “base image” to be programmed before they can be used. This is normally done during manufacture – and cannot be changed by the end user. Professional tuners who purchase multiple boards may find it necessary to change the base image, so we have made the programmers available for this purpose. JUST A LITTLE EXTRA READING
  23. anyone willing to share the secret caz i am alll the way in ja and just needs some tips
