Shell Rotella T6 & Mobil Delvac 1 both in 5w-40 provide very good additive packs and are run in several petrol applications with good UOA results over on BITOG difference between the 2 primarily is Delvac 1 is a group IV PAO based synthetic & Rotella is a Group III Dino - if you're running it only for a short amout of time the Rotella will be fine I'm currently using Delvac 1 in my Forester EJ255 Turbo (wrx motor) after the great results posted up on BITOG Rotella can be bought here http://stores.ebay.c...u/GL-Lubricants Delvac 1 available here http://lubesdirect.com.au/

welcome to the forums justin here are a few suggestions (all my oppion of course) of what to use in your car; engine oil: 4.5-5L - ideal viscosity is 10w40 - change every 5000 if finance allows if not 7500 shouldn't be a problem if using decent oils - Best: Motul 300V chrono 10w40 / Redline 10w-40 / Neo Platnium 10w-40 - Others: Motul 8100 / Castrol Edge / Mobil 1 / Nulon / Elf oil thread for a read here; http://www.skylinesa...e-goods-on-oils engine oil filter - Best: Nissan OEM - Ryco / Cooper / Bosch / Mobil 1 also fine auto transmission fluid: need about 5L unless you are taking apart the pan/box then 8-10L - Best: Redline ATF / Motul ATF / Amsoil ATF / Castrol Transmax Z / Neo ATF - Others: Nulon / normal Castrol ATF - you will need a filter also if you want to change your tranny fluid - best to call a few auto tranny specialists Differential: about 1L - ideal viscosity 75w-90 - Best: Neo / Redline / Motul - Others: Nulon / Castrol multi trax coolant: about 5L - Best: Nissan OEM - others: Nulon Long Life Coolant Brake Fluid: need about 1L for all 4 sides - needs to be DOT 4 compatible - Best: Motul RBF660/600 - Others: Castrol / Nulon Fuel Filter: good time to change as it's probably never been done - Nissan OEM good places for oil/filters NSW http://www.gllubricants.com/ http://www.gccorp.com.au/automotive/ VIC http://www.performancelub.com/ For OEM/aftermarket parts/filters etc http://www.kudosmoto...talog/index.php hope this helps, all the best with it -

Coilpack Replacement - Bang For Buck? What Works The Best?
JGTC replied to eXquiSit's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
can anyone here testify for splitfires being in their car for more than 5-6 years? from what i understand (limited internet racer knowledge) the splitfires work/provide a stronger current/spark over OEM - hence alot of guys experiencing an increase in acceleration as well as needing to gap their plugs differently. a downside to this from what i read tends to be that the longevity of the Splitfires is diminished allbeit negligibly over OEM anyone looking to buy the likes of yellowjackets / Just Jap / Super Spark - these are fine as they are known to have better local warranties over Splitfires but just note that they are made in the likes of china/thailand etc where is OEM and Splitfires are made in Japan the only coilpacks that i've read about which are engineered far over the OEM units are OKADA Projects Plasma Direct Coil Packs which is run in a few marquee Skylines in Japan a blog entry i read here; http://www.leonardfoong.com/2009/10/okada-plasma-direct-ignition-coils.html not cheap at about $1600 a set http://www.rhdjapan.com/okada-projects-plasma-direct-coil-packs-rb26-50511 hope this helps or further confuses some of you -

Hi all, i know a lot of the more-informed gents have their own mechanics they stick to, but i just wanted to give some a good wrap to the fellas over at the Top Secret Service Center (an extension of Top Secret Imports in Blacktown) as they were extremely helpful to go beyond the duty of care to keep my pedantic tenancies in check called up the guys to see if they could help with an engine malfunction light my R34 was throwing up, they were more than happy to scan/diagnose - turned out to be an ignition fault, usual suspects being either the crank angle sensor (CAS), ignition coils or the actual harness. they scanned and cleared the code, and advised to keep an eye on it in case it came back as the stock ECU can sometimes be temperamental and throw out an erroneous codes. From this alone i was given the impression that they were not just after something to fix so they could bill me for it - which i thought was pretty considerate also worthy of mention is the car was running smoothly, no rough idles or misfiring whatsoever, only the malfunction light 2 weeks down the track the engine light returns, i thought f**k im pretty sure something is definitely suss, car was still running smoothly so i was just baffled. took the car back and dropped it off for analysis, this was pretty thorough as they diagnosed as much as they could without taking the coils out so to not charge me unnecessary labor costs if it could be found/fixed before hand - turns out though the problem was that 2 of the coils were not responding with the correct frequency when diagnosed with a scope to double check that it was the coilpacks and not the harness, the coils were individually tested which confirmed the fault lied in the coils - odd i thought as the car was running perfect beforehand i sourced a new set of 6 OEM Nissan Coilpacks from another user on here RBceffy25 - http://www.skylinesa...__fromsearch__1 top bloke i might add, prompt with delivery and also was more than happy to replace one of the coils which turned out to be faulty from the factory, which is rare from a private sellers imo also to failsafe it i picked up a new OEM coilpack loom & new copper spark plugs as the existing one can be brittle and cause grief down the track - Andrew @ Kudos Motorsport was very helpful in getting these to me promptly even before my payment cleared the whole time Top Secret had my car they were very accommodating with my inquiries and when the car had to go back the 2nd time due to the new faulty coil, and although they had to open up the car, test and replace the new-faulty coil with the replacement they actually let me off without charging me for the re-work - although i don't expect this to happen everytime, they were willing to to go far and beyond the standard duty of care to ensure i was happy when i pulled out of their workshop - even though the parts were supplied by me and it was not their responsibility to cover it they were even kind enough to wash the car for me as it had been stationed at the workshop for a good 3-4 weeks while the car was having its time of the month, and instead of starting my car, reversing it out of the shop and turning it off (which fouls up the plugs and oil), they went through the trouble of pushing it in and out of the shop every day for the time it was there whilst it was there so although every thing that could go wrong, went wrong, i still left with a good impression of their workshop and would not think twice to take my car back for any future troubleshooting big wrap to the head mechanic Pete, Jack and the fellas for keeping my blood pressure down for the last month whilst my baby was in their hands, cannot thank them enough TL:DR short: Top Secret Service Center are not your usual mechanics, they stand out from the crowd with their level of care, expertise and attention to details and customer service Top Secret Service Center; Jack (director) or Pete (head mechanic) Unit 2, 1-3 Carnegie Place, Blacktown Phone: (02) 9621 5700 [email protected] http://www.topsecret....au/index-1.php just a pic of my car so if you see me around throw a wave or a toot my way

ideally the best way is to first fill up your bucket with water then add the soap whist mixing it in by hand - the reason for this is that you want the soaps and suds to be kept inside the water, keeping it slippery and lubricated so when you use your mitt/sponge to absorb it and go over your car, there is the maximum amount of slip and lube between the mitt and your paint IMO bubbles are wasted lubricant that should be in your wash solution not on top also pretty basic but make sure you are applying the correct amount of wash as per the size of your bucket - ie wash and wax recommends 30mL/4L so if your bucket is 8L, use 60mL if it is 12L use 90mL and so forth - i bought a plastic measuring cup from the $2 shop which allows you to use the correct amount without wasting any One of the better car wash vids - if you wna skip straight to where he pours the soap into the bucket its @ about 5:00 <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rqdEVtOPKAM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Genuine Nissan Rb Coil Packs
JGTC replied to RBceffy25's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi mate, wondering if u had any luck in sourcing any more coilpacks for the NEO engines cheers dan -
Hi all, just thought i'd piggy back this thread instead of creating a new one looking at replacing the coilpacks & spark plugs in my R34 n/a, would it be worth also replacing the coilpack harness also? happy to spend the extra if it will benefit the coils/igniton life in anyway - im just not mechanically minded also Kudomotorsports have genuine nissan RB25DE NEO coilpacks for $450 (set of 6) - would it be worth it to pay the extra for Splitfires - is there any quality advantage over OEM parts? also i was told that copper plugs perform better which can prolong the life of the coilpacks, any truth to this?

demister is in good working order, Dave was aware that it can be a problem sometimes but he managed to work around it. he charges around the $200 mark but i must say he does know his stuff when it comes to using the best materials for the job, not to mention he took a good 3-4 hours to make sure it was to his standards
