  2. hey matey, just went through this recently the workshop i did my service at recommended me to do a new filter ($20) and gasket ($15) these were aftermarket items as i rang around different workshops and Nissan dealers who couldn't help me with it. I paid 80$ in labour and supplied my own oil, i went with Redline High-Temp ATF You won't be able to flush all the old oil out as that pretty much requires removing the whole gearbox as there will always be liquid in the transfer case, like you i bought 10L of ATF and ended up using about 5L pretty much that's all that's required, so long as you maintain it every 25,000 kms depending on how you drive you will have no dramas As far as the diff is concerned you should service that every 10,000 kms, needs a specific diff oil, your mechanic should know more about it hope that helps mate danny
  3. spotted a KV2 silver R34 coupe turning off Prospect Hwy onto Station Rd in Seven Hills Also spotted a wingless gunmetal grey R32 burble past me turning off Prospect Hwy onto Lucas Rd in Seven Hills if any of you guys are on here, heya, i was in the black R34
  4. Hey shell, thanks a heap for pointing that out, i had used that function once or twice before but because the old SAU format let you pick how far back u wanted to see threads i totally forgot about it, so thanks! danny
  5. The new format of SAU looks fantastic no complaints over the old somewhat dated set up one thing that would be heaps helpful is the ability to choose how far back u want to see the threads when i click on the 'view new content' e.g. i want to choose to see all the active threads in the last 24 hours or the last 7 days this is how i use SAU, by browsing all the active threads from when i left to when i sign back on so this function would make it so much easier its probably a work in progress so i don't wanna sound pushy just a suggestion as I'm on SAU at least an hour or 2 per day anyways love the work you're doing guys this is pretty much my e-home as i don't have a facebook or whatever so any improvements are always appreciated danny
  6. i rekon, every one will tell you to go with the Chaser, but everybody ends up buying the R34 the Chaser is probably the better car, but the R34 just has that X factor that everyone falls for if you use your brain you will buy the Chaser, if you use your heart you will buy the Skyline - everytime - that's why nobody has Chasers
  7. hey mate welcome to the site, that's quite the collection you have there! i was eyeing that R34 on carsales before, its one of shane's at power road carsales, i bought my car from him also would be keen for more info about the GTR you have, being concourse and all we'd love to hear more about it and how you keep it that way anyway enjoy your time on the site there's alot of good exchanges of information to be had =) danny
  8. hey mate, only place i've seen them for sale is at kudos motorsport which are sponsers of the site; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Nt...so-t135194.html all up it was $220 to sydney so maybe a tad more for melbourne hope that helps, danny
  9. Amsoil makes good quality synthetic fluids, they are formulated and manufactured in the US, many people use Amsoil engine oil with their E85 fuel tunes as it works well with it where some synthetics e.g. Motul 300V don't hope that helps danny
  10. hey mate, nah they dont, you can just get them cut at any key-cutting place, the black part where the buttons are only deal with central locking only R34 GTR keys have transponders in them hope that helps, danny
  11. for all things panels i would definitely stop in to talk to Louie at Xclusive Colours on the Cumberland HWY in Smithfield, he is the most recommended panel beater on this forum and is very fussy about his work. here is another sau thread recommending him http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/pr...=21&t=79041 here are his details http://www.yellowpages.com.au/nsw/smithfie...54-listing.html alot of people have also had good results at Smashtech at Bankstown feedback http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.ph...astle-or-Sydney details http://www.smashtech.com.au/index.html hope that helps danny
  12. Hi there, I've just picked up some Redline High-Temp Automatic Transmission Fluid for my Automatic R34 and currently looking for a shop to perform a transmission service (filter, gaskets and O-rings) aswell as plug in the Redline oil i was just wondering if anyone has had any positive experiences with any local automatic transmission shops around Sydney I had all my other fluids and filters replaced at Unigroup at Girraween, and they said they don't work on too many automatics and their supplier did not have any R34 auto-transmission service kits in stock so i thought I'd see if anywhere else can be recommended for my transmission service I'm located in Sydney's west if that helps ps. I have endeavored to search for any information but i cannot find any feedback on any auto transmission places in Sydney Cheers, Danny
  13. Passed by a pewter silver R34 Coupe turning out of Lucas Rd onto Prospect Hwy in Seven Hills, if you're on here, heya, i was the guy in the black R34
  14. Hey there, just offering some feedback as i recently purchased some Redline ATF from this guys and it's legit, for the same price as Harold's @ performancelub.com plus he also stocks 1 Gallon variants of the entire Redline Range as performancelub.com only offers the 1L quart bottles I chose to pick up from him, but shipping is under $10 up to 25kg, so for NSWelshmen its great if u want to save money by picking up rather than getting it posted he's a decent guy, service and price was good so its hard to choose other wise if you're after Redline, Mobil or Shell fluids. He also stocks Mobil oil filters and NGK sparkplugs Here are his details, GL lubricants Nick 0405 509 621
  15. thanks for clarifying those facts, i wasn't sure if the GT-t brakes were 4 pot or 2, i have found most S2 auto R34s to have a normal auto box rather than a semi-auto box and the 2 cars i have linked in my previous post are both Series 2 GT-V models
  16. technically, a GT model is the 2.0L base model for the R34 and the 25GT is the 2.5L variant, but if you're looking on aussie website and what not like carsales, the classifications are all the same so you will just have to look in the description if its a non-turbo or not. With the S1 and S2's there is possibly a bit more torque in the engine aswell as the auto models don't have the tiptronic option, the model you want is a Series 2 GT-V model which has the updated interior aswell as the GT-t 2 pot brakes, LSD and suspension, best way to tell if it's a GT-V is the brakes will have 'Nissan' written on them. here's 2 good examples i've been looking at as i'm constantly on carsales; http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/dealer...id=12B79B65DA3D http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...id=12B79B65DA3D good luck with the hunt, be sure to post pics when u find one =) danny
  17. Hi there, planning to change all the fluids in my R34, its only been 4500 kms since i bought it and i did an engine oil & filter change after 2000 kms i've been doing alot of reading, and window shopping for automatic transmission oils, there is alot to choose from, motul has a pretty good one for auto/semi-auto, royal purple also, but castrol transmax Z seems to be the pick around here just wanted to hear any reasons why this might be aswell as some opinions on which is the best for my 4sp semi-auto gearbox cheers, danny
  18. heres a clip of a few R34 GTR exhausts (not GTT i know) but exhaust porn nonetheless, each exhaust setup is named in the description
  19. there is a trader on nissansivia.com selling nissan OEM coilpacks for $105 a piece for a stock or even mildly modified application, i'd happily pay for a set of OEM coilpacks over splitfires or yellow jackets
  20. generally 5L is the rule of thumb, they actually take between 4.7-4.8L but use the full 5L to allow for any seepage upon running the new oil in
  21. depending on how built your motor is, you may have to refer to the workshop/builder as to what is best for your motor, but considering the car is street driven, Mobil 1 or Motul 300V preferably with a 10w40 weight, as 0w30 or 0w40 may be a little thin for a car thats 20+ years old. both options are very well regarded and are safe choices for your car re: filter, try get your hands on a genuine nissan filter which can be found at any import parts shop, but probably not autobarn, stick with genuine nissan, hks or trust filters if your trusting 290rwkw+ to it, they cost pretty much the same as a ryco one would danny
  22. Correct, it's a factory optioned front bar by altia rather than the nismo optioned one, it is genuine as far i can tell, the mesh is OEM, and the red S badge on the bar makes it pretty clear its a genuine altia bar. a good way to tell is on the area where the number plate goes, you can see the word 'Nissan' molded in small letters.
  23. sorry to hear man! in NSW it is illegal to even display the plates on the inside regardless of visibility, mate of mine got done the same deal as you even though his were clearly visible. magnets of brackets for this side of the seaboard unfortunately. if your license is at stake i would suggest writing a letter pleading leniency regardless of the outcome, perhaps get some references and a JP to sign it or something all the best with it, danny
  24. hey bud, if you want to do a complete suspension overhaul here is the complete christmas wishlist; Shocks - ~$1200 Springs - $600 swaybars adjustable - $225 each hicas eliminator (if req) - $220 Castor Bushes Radius Rod - $120 Front Arm/Camber - $170 Rear Arm upper/Camber - $145 x 2 you will need Subframe - $130 not too sure of any good suspension/steering workshops in melbourne, but you may have some luck if you have a gander in the suspension/tyres section, you may find some places all the best with it, and as always, report your findings and experience with whoever you go with so others can benefit off the feedback! danny
