hard suspension and safety
Scotty replied to hippy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well just the other night, I didnt see a speed hump until it was a little too late. Hit the brakes, didn't skid, but felt that aweful bang! Was spewing for the rest of the night, cos I didn't know if I damaged anything. Can this damage the car. The only thing I noticed, was that the bumper lip was a little scratched *sigh* But can I ask, is there anything we can do to reduce the stiffness, given that my shockies are as soft as they can go. That is, will things such as pineapples, bushes etc etc, help to reduce the harshness. The bumps and thuds I constantly hear definately do not sound good and sounds detrimental to the car. Is this normal, if so, can we reduce the effect? Thanks. -
FS: Tein NR coilovers for R33 GTST
Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Thanks BHDave, Can you repeat that again, "not that harsh" Do you find it kinda rough on imperfect roads. Its more like a go kart than a car. Or does it just need some wearing in? -
FS: Tein NR coilovers for R33 GTST

Thanks jigga, I don't believe you can lower the car too much with my set. It may not be what he's after, if he's expecting something really low. It does lower the car, but I believe it was built for performance and handling rather than looks. If on the otherhand he's after something really stiff, then I have the set for you. Hope this helps. But yeah, it its worth it, I can change the suspensions to my stockies if need be, Shipping should also be fine. -

FS: Tein NR coilovers for R33 GTST
Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Jigga, sounds good. Well, if your friend in keen, please PM me with so that we can exchange details. I think the greatest problem is going to be in shipping. How on earth are we going to swap, given that you're in a different state? Hmm, this could be interesting considering that they're still on the car. Oh yeah, last question Jigga, why does your friend want to swap them? -

Unfortunately in Melbourne. Hmmm, still keen, but how can we possibly work this out from a logistics point of view. Can you tell me any more about your mates Gab suspensions? Stiffness, no. of kms, what car it came off etc etc. Thanks -

Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Err, I wish I new what camber or damper adjustable meant. But I don't believe there is any camber. Damper, if it can, don't know how, hence the reason why I'm getting rid of these.......too stiff! Thanks. -

Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
The Teins have been on my car for 30K km, and yeah, are great, there are really stiff, pushing my whole body weight down, it barely moves, and yeah, no bounce what so ever! -

Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Yep, on my car now. Adjustable height apparently, just don't know how. Possible need of the Tein spanner?? Anyway, no leaks, you're more than welcome to examine them if you're keen though. -

Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Oh, almost forgot, I would consider taking trades for somebody elses shockers and springs if they aren't as hard as these Tein ones. Would like pretty much the same ride height. ie, slightly lower than stock. Oo Oo, maybe even for a set of 17' wheels. If anyone is keen. I'm cool on any price adjustments for the wheels, Thanks. -
G'day Maxx, Hoping you could advise. I too have a set of Teins, but they are the non-adjustable NR series. Be that as it may, they're still bloody stiff, as in I can feel every ripple on the road. But not only that, it makes quite a disconcerting thud on every bounce. Do you get that as well? Just a little worried on what I've just done to the car. Thanks!

Rb25 Pod Filter Adapter + K&N pod
Scotty replied to Butters's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
LOL, I think he was referring to DrEvil as in Austin Powers, Goldmember. Damn I love that movie. Sorry, free bump! -
Thanks Guys, And KingKW13, you are NOT getting my stereo But yeah, it does sound mad, I don't care if they do say I lose performance! hehe. It just sounds so agressive, I'm getting dirty looks whereever I go. And on the freeway today.........priceless. Oh there is one concern though, rumour has it, that can actually damage or create more wear to the engine, since the foam filter does not filter as well, compared to say a paper filter. I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I could not find anything using a search. May I ask, is there any substance to these rumours???

G'day All, I recently bought a Trust pod filter actually from RedLineGTR and could not be happier. The pod fitted perfectly and was a breeze to install. I only have one concern, how loud should the suction noise be. Now I know, the main reason why I bought this, was for the sound, but from the interior, boy, does it sound loud!! I guess I'm just kinda concerned that maybe I havent installed it right and perhaps the air is getting sucked in from somewhere else..........that could be bad. But fromwhat I could see, all the clamps, screws are bolted on tight, so yeah can somebody possibly describe how loud it should be? I guess if I had to describe it, it sounds like a bov that is really obvious in the low end range. So much taht I cant even hear the turbo spooling up. In the upper end it's now so obvious. Thoughts? Thanks to all who reply

FS: How many golfers out there? Mizuno MP33 like new
Scotty replied to Shiro's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
Damn, Awefully nice present to give. Surely you can hand over your clubs and keep these for yourself! hehe, nah, thats a very nice gesture. Well, I guess I would go as low as $1.3K. These actually have S300's in them, so yeah fairly stiff. Not too sure about your dad, but I would presume you would have a better chance in using them, regardless of swing speed. (Mine isnt that great either) Tends to hit the ball fairly high though. Hope that helps! -
Does anybody have a steep driveway?? + low bumper = BAD!
Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in General Maintenance
Hey Guys, thanks for the replies. Jimbo2000, yeah, I know, its pretty much unnoticable, but I'm going to get my front bar resprayed, so yeah, all psychological i think. Bl4cK32, reinforced bumpers ay.......hmm, if I only knew where it could be done. Would be a great idea though. rb25, i see what you mean by doing a sweeping turn to go into your driveway, but I don't get how that stops the scraping, can you please possibly advise further? I guess my problem is that I live in a court also.......doesnt help does it! Evil, yeah, get the council to pay it........that's what they're there for right! -
Hey all, Well, I've just received my Skyline and have been crusing around of late, showing off my new baby to friends and family etc. The only problem though, is that I seem to be having a problem negotiating steep driveways. I've only had my car for a week, and my bumper is already horribly scratched. Fortunately I'm not too concerned as yet, as I'm getting the front bumper sprayed soon, but what should I do in future? My car is a R33 with the standard M spec kit. It's sits slightly lower on a set of non-adjustable set of Teins, but still it's nothing ridiculous. May I ask, has anyone else had this problem? My driveway is kinda steep, and I have already scratched it a couple of times regardless of how slow I go. Is there anything I can do? Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks BoostD and Demon Dave, well the ac was off so suspect it's this Hunting problem. May I ask, is there anything I can do to stop this, or moreso, should I be worried right now? Thanks!

Hippy, if only you were in Melb, I'd ask you to help me out. That's cool though. It's still definately on the agenda, again with a help of a few friends. When it gets done, I'll post up a 'how to' guide here.

Hi Guys, Hoping you could help with my problem also. I know high idle at start is normal, but can somebody please explain this. Drove home tonight, and once I pulled into the driveway, in idle, the tacho constantly fluctuated between 800 and 600 rpm. just back and forth. Should I be concerned? Thanks guys

G'day James, If you're organising a dinner to distribute stickers, yeah, I'll buy some. I was going to order them off Street Weapons, but since you have some, I'll get them off you first. May I ask, do you have the 30cm or 50cm ones...... Thanks!
