Hey B-Man Just quick question, you mentioned that you installed your coil overs yourself. An easy job you said. Can you possibly advise on how exactly? Thanks heaps
-
G'day All, Firstly let me apologise for posing this question again. I have searched the entire forums trying to understand the suspension lingo, however have no fricken clue on what the hell each mod does or more importantly, how it affects the ride. So where to start. I'm about to purchase a completely stock R33. Wheels and all. What I want, is a car that corners and holds traction really well. I come from a land of Commodores, and they handle like absolute shite. So what should I get. The hype has been without a doubt, with coilovers. WTF are they exactly!?! I know the symptoms, excellent road handling with a really hard ride to boot, but does this suit my application?? I don't know. I see so many threads mentioning the sway bars to reduce body roll. Well thats good, thats what I want, but will coil overs answer these problems? How about strut braces, how do they come into play. Oh yeah, and what the frick is a pineapple!?!? Or camber or dampers. Moreso, how will changing it benefit handling. I guess, I want an overall solution. I have checked threads, the whiteline website, and numerous other suspension related pages, however nobody can give me a straight answer in laymen's terms. So yeah, basically I want something that will assist in making the R33 handle really well, ie, corners and holds the road really. Well. People tell me coilovers are the answer to everything, are they?? Again, thank you to all who reply. I apologise for my ignorance but hopefully I can gain some valuable insight here. Scotty

Import Brokers - PMS or J-Spec?
Scotty replied to king_kw13's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hi gtrken & ice180 I concur with you both, all it comes down to is WHO you are willing to hand over your money. Craig and Geoff are without the doubt the most knowledgable importers in this industry. Services, quality of work, is much of a muchness, so you'll end up with the same regardless. So back to the point, Kev, stop procrastinating and get off your ass and do something about it. I understand that time is running out, so given all these other people's opinions, what excuse do you have left? -
Southo, Thanks for your comprehensive reply. Your input is greatly appreciated. Given you comments, I think I will err towards the NavTrak system instead. I guess my final comment though, given that there is traking, is there also an alarm component? That is, with the rrp of $1950, does that include like a siren, immobilisers etc. I mean, it's great if the car gets stolen, but what about preventing the car from moving at all? Of do I also need to purchase an external alarm again? Thanks.

Import Brokers - PMS or J-Spec?
Scotty replied to king_kw13's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Good Afternoon Kev, As promised, here's my two cents. Firstly while I spoke closely wit Geoff, I ended up getting my car through Craig from J-Spec. There were basically two reasons why I did this. Regardless of where I went, the service, auctions, cars and prices would have been relatively the same. What tipped my over the edge was that Craig actually lives close to us and I could actually meet him in person. Sure I can appreciate that the majority of the importers can work online given their reputation, however for that extra peace of mind, it doesn't hurt to meet with the man. Now as for Craig's service. Let see, I consistently hounded him on a daily basis nominating cars that I wanted to bid on, he also went to the effort in looking at other cars in car yards to possibly find a deal. I actually came close to buying a car from a yard, which would have ended up cheaper, however this one came up first. Being naive on the importing process, many a times I would ask him dumbass questions, as well as sending him SMS's all throughout the night, he did not seem to mind at all. Now I'm sure Geoff offers the same quality of work. But I guess, what erred me to Craig was that he was at least he's in the same state as I am. Hope this helps. Thanks, -
Hi All, I tried to do some research on all tracking products, and the other product that is raved about is Navtrak. I presume its pretty much the same thing, however can anybody give an objective view on any differences between the two. Apparently Navtrak boasts that no car has ever been stolen with this system. Again 24/7 monitoring is given for the same price however was developed by the Brant alarm group. (make the Nemisis alarm that comes standard with all new WRX's) Anyway, so which one is better. Anther question I have is that given that tracking is done via GPS, my concern is what happens when the car is parked underground. The concern is, will tracking still work when it's a few floors down in a car park? I've tried to scour the forums here, but nobody can give me a straight answer. Can anybody here please advise? Thanks in advance.
