Sorry, another iPOD question. (Yes I've searched!) ;)
Scotty replied to Scotty's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Chris, you're a legend, I guess, if it would be easier, can I just ship the whole damn thing to you. I'll send you the HU, all cables and jacks that I already have, as well as enough money for you to send it back cable and all. What do you think? Else, I'll take a photo of the front anyway........ but yeah, from the sound of things, i do not have the expertise to know what I'm doing. Multimetre, whats that?? Anyway, thoughts?? Thanks again for your assistance -
Hi All, Ok, I've done a review on every iPOD post on this forum, but there is one thing not clear. I intend on using my stock OEM HU, due to theiving ba$tard$ having stole my Alpine 7998R. >, so I am thinking of hooking up my iPOD so that I can still have mp3's. Now, what I'm after is a clean installation. I don't care, that I cannot use the HU controls for my iPOD, but I prefer not to go down the path of FM transmitters or tapes. So, as this is an OEM, I do not have any aux inputs. I now own a R33 Skyline, so the original unit came in 2 bits. Radio and tape in one din, but as a seperate unit, there was also a CD player. Which from what I can gather, the input is the same as a CD stacker. So what interests me, is that I have heard that somehow, you can use the line out of an iPOD (docking station) and convert it into an RCA output. Then from your RCA's convert it the CD stacker input. Is this correct? Now, the docking station is by now way meant for a car, but I still want to use the line out (refuse to use the head phone output) Is there anyway of doing it, outside of expensive aftermarket designs. You know, like hacking up some cable or something??? Anyway, another thing is that I don't know whether my OEM unit has the traditional stacker input. I have attached a photo here for your reference. The unit on the right is the tape deck, and has the input, the unit on the right, is the CD player, where you can see the cable pins. I guessing even if I did use this input, I'm going to still need to power the iPOD up seperately right. How can this be done??? (Battery maybe) Anyway, please advise if this can be done. Thanks heaps.

Hey All, I need your help. My car was broken into today, and as you can imagine, the interior is pretty phucked! As an auto, the T-bar, and hand brake leather is all scratched up, the actual plastic parts are too, but more importantly, my dash, as in the plastic part that covers the stereo, a/c and steering column has been completely folded out of shape. Not only that, when they've folded it over, they've snapped the windscreen wiper stalk. So I need your help in sourcing these parts. Can anybody help. Again, thats the - plastic dash surround, and the - windscreen wiper stalk I'm in Melb, so anybody's help will be greatly appreciated. You can call me on 0400444913 Thanks to all who reply

Fly_With_Sky, you're a phucken legend! Ooo, a skyline.... I live for those words from a chick! hahaha I guess more mods is the answer.... I guess I only ask cos, the company can offer me a novated lease, which I am contemplating..... But yes, I know its arrogant to say I'm bored of such an awesome car. I don't mean to come off that way, but for the record, no I don't have the luxury of mummy and daddy funding my skyline, it was bought through whoring myself as a waiter for several years. So yeah, I earnt mine. Hmm, but I guess my argument is that I hate getting harrased by other hoons, and cops. I just don't need the aggravation. I mean, I will not drive done chappel, lygon, and a few other places........ Just paranoid about other phcuks ruining my car. But yep, just raise it, and no problems right?! right??? Oh wel, what mods?!! Let the flood gates open! -
Help me! Getting bored of my Skyline

Hahaha! This forum is awesome. Thanks all for your feedback. Hippy how's things buddy, you'll be glad to know that the suspension set is still working a charm. Yeah, i know what you mean about driving a piece of cr#p.... I actually came from a *ahem cough, splutter* a VL Calais. (please don't flame me!) and yeah, you just cannot compare it to a Skyline. But I guess, if I was to change it would be to move into something more sedate. I mean I was looking into an Audi A4, BMW 3 series. etc...... now once you move into those, finish wise they're much of a muchness..... Having test driven a few, sure you can't compare on power, but I guess I'm not longer the speed freak that I once was *sigh* I guess awurth is right, just raise again, make it all nice and legal, and I shouldn't have any problems right?! Mind you I do live in Vic! But finally for Hip, well, its got some pretty good doof in there already. The nice Alpine CDA 7998 works quite nicely. As for its pulling power, perhaps a new set of mags is the answer...... not sure I want to target the teeny boppers tho... Keep the comments coming. This is great, and gets me out of work! -
Hey All, I have a slight moral delimma. Recently I've started to become complacent in my R33 GTST. I'm not too sure what it is exactly, but after getting my car badged, somebody side swipping the rear bumper and all, my Skyline is looking a bit groggy these days. So right now, rather than pouring in the effort in having it fixed, I'm contemplating a change into something more sedate. This is how I justify it. With all the recent bad press about the Skylines' I just fear getting harrased but either other hoons or cops. While my car only has a few minor mods. Lowered and a hks supper dragger exhaust, its not the most "bling" of cars, but it is illegal because it is too low. So its getting to a stage, where I just fear driving it. There are certain places where I don't drive, and places were I don't park. Now I shouldn't have to do that should I? So my question is, how do I get enthusied about my car again. It has treated me really well, and love it to bits, but what can I do to spark that rush again... Help me!

Hey, here's a question for you, Traditionally I've left my OD on, I guess when rolling downhill at 60km/h, I feel like I saving a few cents on petrol, cos my car is revving lower, But can I ask you, how about turning OD off to slow down. Like in a manual, quite often people gear up (or is that down?!?) into 3rd or 2nd gear to slow down, like when you approach a turn or something. Of, late I've been doing this like when turning, go down into 2, slightly braking then accelerating through the turn. Its great fun, but what part of my car am I phucking up??? Thanks

Hey, keen on your stock shockies..... PM'ing you now.
