Question For Skyline V35 Track Owners
Touge Kyousou replied to rs73's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Thanks edwin for checking that out. Yes it is a bit of a worry Nissan kinda let the guys with brembos have it bah...so homo. I've already pulled out my spare and tools and whatnot but dunno if it's affected weight dist as i haven't driven the car yet. The rainy weather and semi slicks keep her garaged. I'll report back if it upsets the car too much when i do get a chance to drive it -
Question For Skyline V35 Track Owners
Touge Kyousou replied to rs73's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Lol wtf nankangs man...at least get the Maxxis tires...they're actually best BFYB and are moderately priced. There's a new one from Maxxis called i-victra pro which was recently tested by Motor magazine...this tire produced a faster lap time than Bridgestone Adrenalines however the adrenalines won due to their absolute consistency across all criteria. Motor did say if it had been a BFYB test instead of outright performance, the Maxxis tire would've won. RS73, I just checked my spare on my 03 track...it's 155/80/17. Can you please keep us up to date as to whether it fits or not, as if it doesn't i'm just gonna empty the boot and put in a can of tyre weld which i already have from my previous car. I'm worried about that throwing off the weight dist which is the reason i haven't done it yet but if it does throw it of badly, i can always put it back in. I'd check myself but i'm almost bedridden atm =/ -
Question For Skyline V35 Track Owners

03 Track here...i'll have a look when i go down to the garage to throw rubbish out later. -
Kinda hard to imagine what you're trying to convey with just words.. Not much help but my gearstick and clutch pedal gives feedback too.. as in i can feel the clutch against the flywheel manifesting as vibrations and slight noise and the gearstick also vibrates a bit. Oh, i can also feel vibrations/oscillations of the gears as rpm increases I'm not the least bit worried about it though, it's a getrag box and from what i've felt and read, their boxes are tough but not smooth/refined.. Adds an element of toughness if you ask me lol...needs it too, car is so refined in stock guise.

That's a worry. Though i'm not sure if it was the timing belt squeeking as i'm quite certain the VQ35DE runs a timing chain. Would've been some form of drive belt though. The stalling with clutch down is a big red light though haha. And yeah, if you swap clusters the odo readout will change as it's stored on the cluster's elec boards. If you know where to look, generally you'll find people also able to tamper with your original cluster to change the readout as well. Pretty gay but oh well.. just inspect it well or get stateroads etc to check it. Imho, km's generally isn't too big a deal long as servicing etc has been done well. Just make sure to do a compression test and check for head gasket leaks (into the spark plug chamber).. still too new to leak to outside and drip down.

Has Your V Been Mistaken As Something Else?
Touge Kyousou replied to rs73's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Heh.. I've gotten R35 GT-R i think about 3 times ? And a fair few "is that the new skyline ?" Tbh, i didn't buy the car for the looks though...it was the interior and gadgetry that sold me along with the VQ35... coming from an FTO and an 3 MPS.. you can't blame me hehe. -
Differential Upgrade?

Not sure about auto but my manual 03 premium definitely has some form of LSD. Can feel the power juggling in the wet.. -
Heya all, Just a quick question as to whether anyone knows 100% that the 350Z swaybars are the exact same as a 350GT coupes from factory ? I.e. A 2003 350Z and a 2003 V35 350GT. If anyone can Nissan FAST this that would be really good. Asking because i'm trying to do a swap for a set of swaybars from a 350Z owner who is demodding to sell but needs factory swaybars. Thanks all!

I seem to get pinging on mine a bit too... haven't quite figured out the cause. Seems to happen at low rpms when the car is coasting in gear then i get back on throttle...say under 2k rpms. It also occasionally happens during same coasting in gear to back on throttle but over 2k rpm so e.g. 2400 rpms. Anyone noticed these cars are really sensitive to heat ? Or is it just mine lol =/

To be honest, i didn't notice the problem until i got the dyno run. The car is quite new to me so for the most part, i've been driving it nicely but as i'm settling into it, i've started giving it more and more and realised the problem this way. The exhaust was done by the importer when i bought the car - However, i've seen the car up on the hoist and it all looks good. Everything lines up, nothing is loose and the installation doesn't require going anywhere near the exhaust sensors (it's a jap brand y pipe back exhaust). The intake tube is a nissan factory item that i installed myself along with the air filter (trust). I checked for any disconnected plugs tonight but didn't see any. Checked level of all fluids and that's ok too.. While i was at it, i also gave the air flow meter a good hit of electrical contact cleaner.. not hoping for much though lol. If i/garage finds the proble, i'll post here for future reference. Edit - The ecu's been reset before

Mhmm, definitely sounds like it but for some reason a little heatsoak (the v35's aren't even turbo) manages to take away 30rwkw's wth =/ Very weird... car will most likely go on a dyno next week with a scantool attached, see what the thing is doing. Failing that i might try a radiator flush with a nismo thermostat and see if that helps..

Heya all, I think i've come across a weird problem with my car... in that when the car comes to a stop and stays stopped for a minute, the power the engine produces is lower than if i come to stop, then quickly take off again. So scenario 1 (low power) Car has been sitting idle for a minute, then i take off mashing the accelerator once the clutch is engaged...doesn't feel fast Scenario 2 (normal power) Car has been driving around, comes to a stop then i take off a few seconds later, mashing the accelerator once the clutch is engaged and it feels alot faster than scenario 1. This isn't all butt dyno btw, i did a dyno run when i got the car serviced last and it came at 131rwkw. Obviously, the car had been sitting on the dyno to warm up etc (like scenario 1). Compare this to a stock V35 350gt that should get around 160 rwkw. Also, i've got one of those gtech thingos and it consistently gives around 200-210HP from scenario 2 and around 170hp from scenario 1. It's a V35 skyline 350gt with a y pipe back exhaust, upgraded air intake tube and drop in filter. Any info/help appreciated, thanks!

350gt Power Problems.. Maybe
Touge Kyousou replied to Touge Kyousou's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Just an update if anyone is curious.. GEXer took my car for a spin and noted that 1st gear felt better than his but my 2nd gear was weaker. GEXer's v35 however, has a different diff in it i believe so it was kinda inconclusive. Been driving it around lately giving it a bit, certainly feels more than 131kw atw, so i don't really care.. long as the car is running healthy which it seems to be. AFR check was ok. One thing my mate spotted (he was there during the dyno run) was that it was a raining day and my car went on with wet tires, plus the person driving my car on the dyno thought it was wheelspinning (the speed did climb a bit quick.. i've thrown my cars on the dyno plenty times) so most likely that explains the low power readout. Case closed, am happy. Under 6 sec to 60mp/h timing is repeatable too without being super brutal so i think the car is going ok. P.s. Thanks GEXer! Really appreciate it. Btw, saw your V35 today, very nice looking! -
Pretty sure it's gearbox whine. I can hear it on mine too, and i like it . You can hear it most prominently when you ease into 2nd gear at lowish speeds, can hear the gearbox whining as it turns to match the engine's rpm speed. Shadowknyght, I used to have an fto too haha. Yes mivec really was something when it had an intake on it.

350gt Power Problems.. Maybe
Touge Kyousou replied to Touge Kyousou's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hey all, Thanks for the replies Yeah i was thinking there maybe was a wrong setting on the dyno.. going through the dyno sheet doesn't tell me much though, other than the usual tire pres setting, correct intake and ambient temp plus the shootout mode was correct at 6 cyl n/a. I hope it was a wrong setting. I know this dyno reads fairly well usually as i've had my previous two cars on there in various states of tune/mods and the numbers it manages to post up seems quite realistic/normal. In saying that, my previous cars were dyno'd by the main mech/owner but few days ago, it was the senior apprentice that ran the 350gt. BLISTC, Wow, congrats on your awesome result! Thanks for the offer, really appreciate it but i'll take up GEXer's offer as he's quite close to me. GEXer, PM incoming, thanks mate -
I've been driving past/around newcastle earlier this week as i was on holidays at salamander bay... white coupe stockie 18's!

Heya all, Been lurking around here for awhile.. but have come across something funny with my car. Thought i'd chuck it here and see if anyone has any ideas/suggestions etc Anyways, the car's a 03 350gt 6mt with 47thou on the clock. I got the car serviced yesterday and decided to dyno it for the heck of it but it returned a rather low figure of 131 kw at the rears. Odd i thought as most are saying stock should put out around 160 at the rears. I bought the car 2 months ago with 43 thou on the clock and since then it's had brake, engine, clutch, gearbox and diff fluid changed. The oil filter has been replaced. The car when bought, had a kakimoto regu 06 & R y pipe back exhaust installed shortly followed by a trust panel filter then a z-tube. The car doesn't feel sluggish and in fact, feels quite fast. G-tech gives it a 5.89 time to a 60mp/h dash but 131rwkw seems a bit low for this kind of time. My previous ride was a mazda 3 mps with 180kw atw and that car only managed to post a flat 6 to the 60mp/h dash. My next step is changing the spark plugs but i doubt that will help.. i think they come with platinum from factory that are good for upto 100 thou km's ? Any ideas/suggestions etc is welcome! Thanks for reading. P.s. If anyone is around the st.george (sydney) area with a 350gt m/t and doesn't mind showing me what kind of power i should be feeling in my car (e.g. torque going up a hill/in gear acceleration), please feel free to PM me. If you'd like, you can drive my car and see if it's lacking a certain something as well.
