If you have a look at past best motoring lap times etc, you'll find the 34 gt-r tends to be on par with evos which in turn tend to generally do better than the sti's. Granted this is race track conditions where the RB can stretch it's legs (rev out) but that's one of the key attractions of having a turbo skyline imho, that it likes to be drivien sportily and revving out/making all the right noises. Really though, you're comparing a totally different class of car.. as much as people love to stack an evo to a gt-r.. the evo is a rally machine whilst the gt-r never had rally in it's mind meaning Nissan could afford to have the car be heavier/performance focused at other areas. If you really wanna compare mitsu to nissan then you should compare a r33 gt-r v-spec and a mitsu gto vr-4 mr imho. As for a 34gt-t looking good, don't make me laugh! See.. looks are subjective. And the interior of the entire r series of skylines aren't that great to be honest, probably the same level as the evo interiors when comparing the same year models.

Hoot Review Evo Vs R34 Gtr
Touge Kyousou replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Lol.. i used to think they looked quite alright and almost bought an evo 8 but bought a v35 skyline instead.. no regrets as the evo populated the roads so quick afterwards.. least i got another year or so out of the v35 before that became common as rat crap and i sold it. My mechanic is always telling me the evo is a good car (and the amount you see going through his roller doors..frigging cockroaches). I do agree they are fantastic cars from factory and excel in many forms of motorsport well plus aren't too expensive to modify.. popular for a reason eeh. -

Fwiw i have a canon varex (i actually asked for a oval chamber varex but the exhaust shop got the order wrong - eeh).. and actually really like the sound from it. On the 33 i had a trust pe-2 (which was rusted out), then a standard x-force 3.5" catback with cannon then i replaced the end cannon with the varex.. it's the quietest out of all 3. It can be a little more quiet i guess but 3.5" piping is not helping. The quality of the varex is way better than the standard x-force items. I inspected the muffler before and after install and would say the quality is near a brand new kakimoto system of almost 2k (not even catback but y-pipe back) i had on my previous v35. Was always intrigued by the varex since it first came out so decided to get it over slapping on large oval rear muffler.. i like gadgets lol and helps in my sleeper fetish. Just have to spray it black. Oh and the tip is 3.5" as well, so same size in and out though you can get them with larger tips out than in. Couple of mates have also commented on how nice my exhaust sounds with one saying it's one of the nicest street rb exhaust he's heard in awhile. It's a very deep (no rasp at all) note... the entire system upto muffler is mild steel and galved (giving a deeper note) then the varex at the back (which actually has a very large body as there's 3 chambers for the gas to pass through in quiet mode). I'm not saying the varex is the shiznit, just it is nowhere near as bad as some posters in this thread make it to be.

Does anyone know on an r33 rb25det what size hosing i need to buy for the oem bypass valve to the return piping? Also would like to know the size of silicone coupler i'll need for connecting the factory inlet manifold to the factory J pipe on the same motor. Would save me pulling mine off, re-installing, buy, then pull off and install new ones. Thanks all.

A bank cheque is NOT 100% safe. People have been scammed by it before (or so i've read). Scammer will get bank cheque, and just before handing it to the buyer, the drawer of the bank cheque will call the issuing bank and report it stolen, and the bank cheque then gets cancelled. There's a few other ways/reasons for the bank cheque to be cancelled. Last time i sold my car, went for cold hard cash, walking through hurstville with almost 30k lol Luckily it was only from westpac to st.george being 50metres apart on the same main street. Be sure you provide him/yourself with a bill of sale with both signatures and date/time/kms/rego/car/owner details etc. So if he decides to speed past a camera at 200 kmh/s straight after you give him the keys, he can't say it was you that did it. Good idea to get a photocopy of their licence etc too. Don't forget to cancel your insurance and get some money back.

Apexi Power Fc Hand Controller....
Touge Kyousou replied to matt lopez's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's good to know thanks Paul. I've got the normal old style hand controller and the damn brightness of it sucks. It only goes proper normal brightness when i apply pressure on the front of the hand controller housing blargh. -
+1 to under-rated cars. It's not too hard for an n/a motor to develop 100hp/litre imho, BUT it has to be engineered to do so from factory - there are quite a few jap cars with 100hp/litre from factory and aren't too expensive. To modify a motor yourself to do 100hp/litre would be quite a feat, expensive and lots of trial and error though e.g. an n/a rb motor. If we look at really high strung n/a motors, we can quickly see that they manage to achieve a fair bit over 100hp/litre (E.g. honda s2k). However these hi-po strung motors are quite hard to make perform well in drag etc due to the lack of torque (remembering they rely on revs) and as such, are super fussy on launch, shift-points etc whereas something with a fat torque curve and be nice and lazy such as the xr6 mentioned above. Lol @ magna and SSS plug Honestly, OP.. if you wanna win traffic light gp, you bought the wrong car. Should've just got an n/a supra or something...one of the fastest p plate legal cars atm.

So Much Fail 120kms in 10secs sounds about right. Well driven n/a R2/3/4 series skylines will do 0-100 in 8s give or take. You should goto WSID with your mate and do it properly and then he can have no excuses either. The gt-r is not really fat compared to other cars in it's league. Your n/a skyline compares crap to other n/a cars on the road. An auto v6 commo will hold you off and anything remotely sporty will probably leave you behind (discounting faux sporty cars). Lol you mention integra type r.. sorry but that will eat your car and spit it out before breakfast. Well driven, they can do 6's to 100 which actually would scare quite a few standard turbo cars from the same era.

Electronic Boost Controllers?
Touge Kyousou replied to are bee's's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Had my gizzmo ms-ibc installed and set today. PFC didn't need a retune as the boost curve change wasn't drastic. What can i say, easy to use and install (though i didn't do the install as i was lazy haha). Had the thing perfectly set in about 10 shootout runs and that includes a few muck around ones too. Once you get used to the instructions, it's piss easy to use. Holds boost a wee bit better than my old PFC boost controller kit did, and boost comes on better thanks to gain settings. My power curve through mid range basically lifted up about 12rwkws. I also now no longer have time to make a coffee when i shift gears and give it a little. Curiously picked up a few kw's peak power too even though running pretty much the same boost. It shouldn't be dyno variance as my last tune was 241rwkw, and then i de-tuned it further myself on the road to avoid some intermittent knocking. Really like the unit, the only thing missing is probably overboost cut in my eyes (it only has overboost warning). -
Brake Grade Upgrade For My R33 Gts-T
Touge Kyousou replied to Tweaky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The Ku36's are S compounds lol. S compounds off the top of my head KU36, re-01r, re11s, rt615, ad-07, ad-08, ventus rs-3, direzza star specs. All S compounds won't be great in the wet.. that's the trade off for better dry handling. If you're looking for the best of both worlds (dry and wet), you'll have to prepare to spend big bucks on some Pirellis or Michelins. Actually... there is one S compound that is designed for wet being the Toyo R-1R's so check these out. From what i've read, they do wet decent and because they are made of an S compound material, is still great in the dry. To the poster that can stand on his KU36's, weird.. i can't stand on my brakes, i still need to modulate (i don't have ABS though) and have braided lines etc so there's no line ballooning etc. -

Brake Grade Upgrade For My R33 Gts-T
Touge Kyousou replied to Tweaky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Depends on your exact needs. I have settled on S compounds as an all rounder and am happy with S compounds... still doesn't provide the traction and braking i want but pointless going to R compound for me as i won't be able to get the heat into them on the street. To be honest, almost any S compound will be a major upgrade over Achilles (unless you have the achilles S compounds? I seem to remember they had a set). Otherwise any UHP street tire would be good too e.g. Pirelli P Zero Nero or some crap like that, or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 but they're not cheap but you'll find your 19" size. Something a bit cheaper could be Kumho Ku31 or Goodyear Eagle F1 asymetric.. the upgrade won't be dramatic though. I'm finding dba4000 slotted f/r with pads, lines, fluid, master cyl brace and S compounds to still not be enough for only 320rwhp but i might be too picky. -
Electronic Boost Controllers?
Touge Kyousou replied to are bee's's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'll report back after saturday when it gets installed, boost set then the pfc retuned for the boost curve. Like i said, not expecting peak power gains but a better mid range. I did heaps of reading and finally settled on the Gizzmo unit. My choices were Greddy Profec B II, HKS EVC, HKS EVC-S, Blitz Dual SBC ID3 and the Gizzmo. I've had the Greddy Profec B II before and it was a great unit (on another car) but thought i'd try something else this time. Was going to get the Blitz unit due to Status' quote below but in another thread he mentions he finds no difference in boost ramp rate between the Gizzmo and the Blitz dual solenoid so i decided to save the 300 bucks Quote from Status -

Brake Grade Upgrade For My R33 Gts-T

I hope you have decent tires to keep up with the brakes. Nice upgrade! Something I'm looking at doing also (front bbk). -
Electronic Boost Controllers?
Touge Kyousou replied to are bee's's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Unfortunately the apexi avc-r has no gain setting i don't think...losing precious boost ramp rate. This is the reason i just purchased the gizzmo.. so i can ditch the PFC boost controller kit. Several years ago dirt_garage did some testing and found switching from the avc-r to a blitz dual solenoid found gains even when running same boost pressure. The amount of info it can display is handy though! -

Gizzmo's are priced at $299 if anyone is looking.. From an official dealer so warranty too. -
Electronic Boost Controllers?
Touge Kyousou replied to are bee's's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I just bought a Gizzmo ms-ibc.. supposedly the goods after doing a bit of searching on this forum. The world's fastest gts-t runs the same controller, so i thought why not Anyways, mine gets installed and tuned on saturday. Car already has a boost controller but a crappy one so basically looking for boost ramp rate improvements not peak power (which i expect to remain unchaged as it will still run the same boost). -
Lol, sounds like a bargain buy, seems legit! To be honest, it's not remotely worth looking at tuning the ecu on the v35.. the only time you'd do it is if you already have intake, ignition and exhaust mods then you will get a little and i mean a little only gain. Unless you wanna get it tuned to fix the stupid problem where they bloody ping from factory..that's a different matter. Yeah suspension is good on the V, it's still a heavy bastard though at 1500+ kgs though the front midship layout makes it quite agile for it's size and weight. Chassis stiffness isn't too bad either so suspension is definitely worth it.

Seen a silver one getting around. Makes me glad i sold my v35 And there i was thinking the model wouldn't get too common/trashed because it was non turbo and non inline 6 (i.e. not a 'real' skyline as some of you guys might put it)... when i frigging bought it 3+ years ago!

Time For A New Daily Cruiser Any Recomendations
Touge Kyousou replied to Longz's topic in General Automotive Discussion
V35 coupe with sunroof. I sold mine almost a year ago with a fair bit of fruit for 26500. Should be cheaper now. Get one in manual for 6spd getrag box. Vq35de 206 kw. Handles quite well, based on 350z chassis. Looks good with wheels and lowered etc. Nice interior and good creature comforts. Oh and they sound horn with a good exhaust. I'd show you pics but posting from phone. -
Turbo Vehicles And What Could Have Been...
