  1. paints these days are desinged to be painted over dry surfaces instead of the old way where everyone used to go wet, if i was to do your car i would started in 320 not 240, then finished in 800
  2. listen up mate:) if your car's in 240 theres two ways you can go about it...throw it in primer which will help in the appearance when its all finished or you can go out and throw some 320 then one 180 on an orbital sander and get all those 240 scratch marks out...only problem there is dont know how competent you are and how thick your paint is you might rub through and if its badly rubbed through might show up when you finish painting it.
  3. haha your welcome... painting one of the subjects i know about glad i can be on this forum and help someone for once currently going through this process at the moment with my car but not a full respray. all im doing is sanding back the repairs that need doing (no bog needed) using a roller to prime the sections as small as possible then painting the base as small as possible blending it in same with the clear instead of clearing the whole panel i only clear what is needed the buff the outline so it blends in:)
  4. not to put a spanner in your works, but i heard today on the radio that arthurs seat is closing down, might not affect your cruise what so ever but thought id just raise it
  5. yeh that's how we did it when i was a spray painter only problem is its very brittle and you cant get very good continous pulls, i can put the time and effort into doing it that way with the heat but i was wondering if anyone had used and liquid products to aid them
  6. let me know if you seperate the turbo from the rest...
  7. the dents must be primed over and properly sanded or it will shrink back and you will see the repair under the paint work but apart from that if everything else has been sanded, throughly blow all the dust and grime out with a air hose, then you can go two ways about this. 1) wash the car with a hose making sure you get the water pressure into every nook and cranny then dry and use air nossle again to remove whats left over 2) or if you have enough use prepsol and the correct rags and wipe down the whoel car and everywhere else you are gonna use masking tape other wise it wont stick... mask up car depending on how much youve taken off your car, there are certain types of tape for different things... such as the seal mould at the tops of doors; there is a tape with plastic edging that slides underneath the mould then pulls upwards when you stick it down**make sure you blow out under here if you use this*** ot you can get fineline tape which is plastic and very flexible which can go on the egde of your mould make sure you dont get the tape touching both surfaces or when you go to take it off you could risk pulling the paint of the panel NOT COOL! mask the rest of the car as nessecary then a once over again with prepsol... you should be ready to paint now depending on where you are painting i.e. shed or garrage....spray all the walls and floor with water first (before cars in there) to prevent dust and shit in the air as much as possible if not do it right and put it in a booth you can hire them off most workshops on a weekend... hit the car over with a tack rack to remove any last particles laying on the surface and your ready to put your bases down... anything else you need just ask:)

  15. you can get charge three arms and a leg with this kinda thing... the problem is that being a flat panel when they weld the holes back up if they put too much heat into the panel it warps and shit's itself and then they owe you a new boot lid...your best bet is to drive around to the panel shops, and quote it, don't go to the ones that look to dodgy coz some will take you for everything as will some of the better places...just get some quotes:)
  16. seriously interested in this...please get back to my pm
