I had a simlilar problem to some of you. Mine was speedo not working, steering heavy and hicas light on. The hicas light is a common fault on r33s and so a lock bar is a good idea and remove the globe from the dash. If your speedo doesnt work the speedo sensor on r33s is located in the gearbox and can break. I replaced the speedo sensor with another and now everything is good for me. Power steering works and no annoying hicas light. This is just what i did to fix mine but if the steering is heavy i would have a quick look at speedo sensor cause if it detects no speed after a certain time the computer shuts off the power steering for some stupid reason.

I got a pink label one not sure what series it is pretty sure it works but im in joondalup, u can have it if you want its just gathering dust

May as well add my 2 cents. I got yellow stickered last noght at about 2 in the morning coming home from work, minding my own business some douche in a lexus sc400 tried to goad me into a race and generally being a dick. We both got pulled over by the cops and they tell me i was "hooning". I was cruising the speed limit doing nothing spectacular but got a yellow anyway because apparently my power steering is leaking. I know for a fact it isnt cause i just got the car back last week from tenagah making it all nice and legal and a few mods. Took the cop 20mins of searching over the car to find probably 3-4ml of oil that has just been spilled on one of the pipes. I had to explain to him that the blow off valve was plumbed back and the noise was from the enclosed air filter. Anyway wasnt very happy at all but had to bite my tongue yet again. Its things like this that makes me dislike the police sometimes.

I got mine done yesterday, nat radiators and air con in joondalup, good job. cost 260 but that was fix all leaks and regas and replace some filter thing that was farked. Nice and icey cold now.

I went to auto power in joondalup, its a workshop that does pit inspections, no waiting just dropped my car off and picked it up later. The guy is a good mechanic so he knows what he is talking about too. 5 Winton road is the address. I took my corolla there to change state plates and he said change a couple of tyres (they were rooted) and all set.

Didnt really know there was hicas at the front just thought that the power steering was adjusted according to speed. May be a good thing its default is heavy steering, especially if you are travelling quickly, dont want a slight movement of the wheel turning into a 45 degree turn.

Hicas has been removed previously.

Ok got another speed sensor and fixed the problem but the one i got has a broken mounting bracket so just haveto find one that is complete and should be all good.

I got the speed sensor out doesnt physically look broken the two wires coming out of it are open circuit, unsure if that is the way they are supposed to be. I would guess it is just a permanent magnet volage generator and as the speed increases the voltage does too. If so then the wires should be connected. Anyway im gonna replace it when i find another one (so far impossible) and see if that fixes it.

I have been researching it extensively and the r33 has electronic speed sensor as opposed to the r32s cable driven speedo, seems that i am lookin at a problem with the speed sensor or dash cluster. Anyone have a spare dash they wanna let me borrow? I will replace the sensor and go form there.

Nah the ecu hasnt been touched its pretty much stock

Tried that, i bashed the shit out of it thought the needle might be sticky but there is definitely some other problem.

Hey need some help today my speedo just decided to stop working and then the power steering stops working about 5 min into driving, i think the speedo has something to do with the power steering not working (not adjusting pump to speed). my question is how does the speedo work is it an electronic sender or is there a cable and if so where is it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx
