  1. You would not be able to register any imported body shell (with or without an engine) unless you have an import approval for it - obviously this would not be possible if that model car is not allowed for import .. other than that you can import any parts you like for use as parts (or to rebuild a local vehicle)
  2. I know someone that would be keen on this - please call Brad on 0421 706 998
  3. . Have a look at www.J-SPEC.com.au ... the auction list is updated with 1000's of cars each day..
  4. The S15 was not sold here in Australia until late 2000 so we are allowed to import any that were built before then .. it is the same story with the Skyline R32, 2+2 seat 300ZX, Lancer EVO, etc...
  5. Prices on these have been dropping quietly over the past year or so but very few have been imported because compliance prices were simply too high - we can get it cheap enough now that it's possible to have some 2000 model RX-7's landed and complied for under $40,000 .. that is almost as cheap as buying a Australian delivered 1993 model. 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-R 13B turbo only 12,000 km's 5 speed manual white ABS brakes ... dealers price is 2,450,000 yen - around $44,200 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-RS 13B turbo 82,000 km's 5 speed manual metallic silver one owner service books ABS brakes ... quick sale at 1,660,000 yen - around $31,400 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-RB 13B turbo 29,000 km's automatic metallic silver ABS brakes ... priced at 1,880,000 yen - around $34,900 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-RB 13B turbo 35,000 km's 5 speed manual metallic blue service books ABS brakes HKS exhaust (will need to be replaced) Supra Advan alloys (will need to be replaced) ... quick sale at 1,680,000 yen - around $31,700 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-RB 13B turbo 30,000 km's 5 speed manual metallic silver service books one owner ABS brakes Blitz exhaust (will need to be replaced) aftermarket Defi gauges (may be allowed to stay?) ... priced is 1,880,000 yen - around $34,900 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-RB 13B turbo 13,000 km's 5 speed manual bright red service books one owner ABS brakes ... priced is 1,890,000 yen - around $35,100 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-RB 13B turbo 10,000 km's 5 speed manual white service books one owner ABS brakes ... priced is 1,890,000 yen - around $35,100 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-R 13B turbo 20,000 km's 5 speed manual yellow limited edition (only 600 built) service books Xenon lights height adjustable suspension (will need to be replaced) ABS brakes ... dealers price is 2,480,000 yen - around $44,650 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture 2000 Mazda RX-7 Type-R 13B turbo 11,000 km's 5 speed manual black service books one owner ABS brakes ... dealers price is 2,480,000 yen - around $44,650 landed (plus compliance and registration) click for picture
  6. Yup, we can import cars again now that some of the side intrusion issues have been sorted. Compliance on RX7's is still costly but we have negotiated a special rate for our clients - I emailed out some examples last night that might be of interest, will post them here also... .. send a black email to [email protected] if you want to be added to our mailing list and get information like this in the future ..
  7. The series 6 will not be approved for import because it was sold locally by Mazda in Australia, although the series 8 built from late 1999 onwards has been approved .. the current price range for a good 2000-01 model is around $38,000 to $50,000 landed and complied.
  8. 1999+ model RX7's (series 8) have just been passed for compliance recently - we can now start importing them again and prices have never been cheaper .. how about an immaculate 2000 model for under $40,000 landed and complied?
  9. The prices of R33 has dropped in Japan over the past few months with reduced demand from Australian importers, so the landed and complied prices are fairly similar at this stage even with the higher cost of compliance at around $4,000 The bad news is that because we can only import standard cars now, the sale prices of all standard R33's will almost certainly increase over the next few weeks as we all start buying again ... my point is to get in quick if you want a real bargain.
  10. The R32 GTS-T and other rear wheel drive models were built from May 1989 onwards ... the GTR and GTS-4 models were introduced a few months later in August 1989. The R33 GTS25t started production in August 1993 with the official release date of the GTR being January 1995, although production on the GTR actually started in late 1994. We will also be offering a purchasing service for people in Canada before the end of the year - there has been loads of email from people up there asking about 1989 model cars already... we have already supplied cars to the UK, USA, Sweden, New Zealand, etc.
  11. We only buy cars to suit our clients requirements, let us know if you want something specific and then we can hunt it down for you.
  12. All states have their own rules regarding 15 year old imports, but generaly speaking the car will have to meet ADR's for it's year of build .. this should cost around $800 to $1,500 depending on the requirements in your state and how much of the work you do yourself. You would have to be VERY lucky to get a 1989 model GTR for 500,000 yen FOB these days, prices have increased heaps with the recent surge of Australians buying them. Current prices start from around 700,000 yen FOB for somethingn with higher km's, accident repair history, scruffy interior, etc.. (around $14,500 landed plus compliance and rego) If you want something in exceptional condition with genuine low km's, heavily modified, etc. then you will need to spend anything from 1,000,000 yen to more than 2,000,000 yen FOB (around $19,500 to over $35,000 landed plus compliance and rego) .. almost forgot - modified cars are allowed under the 15 year old rules at this stage but they still have to meet your local laws for registration (ride height, exhaust volume, etc..) ... some parts may have to be removed prior to registration but at least they will not have to be destroyed like later model cars under the SEVS scheme.
  13. I should have also added that this was fairly cheap for the SIR model, you would normally be looking at around $8,000 to $10,000 landed (plus compliance and rego) We have five more 1989 model SIR's and two nice SI's available for purchase right now if you are interested - prices range from $6,200 to more than $10,000 landed (plus compliance and rego) For anyone else reading this post, compliance for most popular 15 year old cars will be around $800 to $1,500 depending on the actual car you buy, registration requirements in your state and how much of the work you want to do yourself.
  14. We are actualy based in Melbourne but we buy cars for clients all over Australia, we would normally have the car complied in Sydney for you but we can arrange it down here if you prefer us to watch over the process for you ... the only thing you would have to take care of yourself would be the registration, although we can point you in the right general direction if necessary. The prices of most 1989 models are fairly good at the moment but we do expect prices to rise a fair bit on most popular models before the end of the year - remember that we will be bidding against other countries with 15 year import laws also (like Canada) The car that Shell posted above was for sale at Yahoo auctions for some time and was eventually sold for only 220,000 yen - that works out to be around AU$7,700 landed (plus compliance and rego), so maybe just under $10,000 on-road.
  15. I just thought it might make a difference to you wanting them .. would hate to see you buy something and not be happy when it turned up..
  16. JOnJ0n: The R33 brakes are much bigger and better than your R32 brakes - you should swap over the calipers and rotors, you might need the brake hoses so grab those also.. .. as for other parts that would be popular in Australia - most interior parts specific to the four door model is hard to find here (carpet, door panels, seats, etc.) .. let us know what other parts are there? skysaresilver: Are you aware that the sedan headlights are chrome inside, not black like the coupe?
  17. There are many ways for it to work depending on how it is shipped - a lot of the bigger companies will lodge an entry for you, otherwise you can have your own agent do it .. then payment is made to the agent the does the paperwork. .. you 'should' only pay duty & GST on goods that exceed AU$500 in value (including shipping, etc.)
  18. EXACTLY - it is not going to be a cheap process, even with cheap original parts in Japan .. you will need to have "friend" over there that can do all of the running around for you..
  19. It is dependant on how the car enters the country, so there should be nothing to stop you taking off the parts overseas and shipping them with the car .. as long as the car itself is 100% stock and any aftermarket parts are not fitted prior to registration.
  20. I have a brand new set of SplitFire units to suit 1995+ RB25DET .. unfortunately they do not suit my new Skyline so I want rid of them... [email protected]
  21. It is really frustrationg looking at it from an importers point of view also, we get told by the DOTARS that ALL plates will be issued before midnight on May 7th only to have them not turn up .. we get kept in the dark for weeks on end while they work out what they are going to do about it, which is really hard for us when we have to give answers to a number of clients that are waiting for plates - this even includes my new Skyline I have been on the phone to people in Canberra as well as talking with almost a dozen compliance workshop owners just to compare their stories in an effort to find the absolute truth .. At this stage it is just a case of waiting - the DOTARS are apparently working through the backlog as quickly as possible (for them anyway) and we have finally started getting some of the 20 odd plates we are waiting on, so hopefully the others won't be far away now...
  22. We need to find a decent condition stock turbo to suit a 1996 Skyline GTS25t for a client .. please email us with details of what you have and your asking price - [email protected]
  23. What we are told is that compliance of used cars under the old CPA scheme was seen as being a "re-manufacture" rather than modification, therefore the car should have brand new seatbelts, tyres, wiper blades, etc.. Under the new SEVS scheme it has been accepted that cars are simply being modified to suit ADR's and there is the ability to keep some parts on the car as long as they are in good condition and suitable ... eg. seatblets on some models, tyres if they are DOT approved, cat converters on low km's cars, etc..
  24. Under the old import scheme all 1996+ cars should have had the seatbelts replaced with brand new factory belts, so the date on the seatbelt tag would not actually be the build date of the car ...
  25. I have heard of gains in the area of 10-15% for torque and power, but I suspect this to be a little optimistic ... I think you could expect minimal gains but apparently it is noticable - I have never used these ones so I can't really say much else..
