Hi mate. I dealt with this last year. My mum actually backed into me.. Parents were insured with AAMI. I have third party with justcar. I went and got a quote at one of their repairers. I then went and got a quote at a repairer I wanted (Paintwerks) I also tried Micolour, but he wasn't interested in giving me a quote simply on the grounds that he believed AAMI wouldn't bother to look at it. However the paintwerks quote was approved and an assesor had a look at my car there. AAMI will try to make you think you dont have a choice, but it's not as difficult as it all seems.

Where do you live mate? Are you aware that in some states P-Platers can't drive a turbo?

Thanks for the response! Yep! I've got the "what to look for when buying a skyline" thread bookmarked! I'm really after information on the cost of replacement parts, and how long they take it get to Melbourne? also how much does a regular service cost for a skyline in comparison to a similar ADM car? (I'm trying to find info to show my dad... He will be lending me half of the cash and isn't too keen on an import )

Yeah, that pissed me off reading that. In regard to the 8 people being legal. I thought a car was licensed to carry so many people? and that was the limit? Like if you put a rear roll bar in (over the rear seats) then you can legally register it to carry only 2 people (front two) ?? EDIT: Whoops, beat me to it.
