How crap is your local Autobarn?
cobo_11 replied to cobo_11's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Just to clear up a few points; There are at least 5 guys that work at the Autobarn I go to that have been there ever since I started going there. 4 of them are over 25 with the other being around 20. I have dealt with them all on seperate occasions, with only one of them listening to what I have to say (ie, came in for a specific part and wasn't told to try this insted or all that mumbo jumbo) and actually did provide a very good service. But that's where the buck stops, the rest of the guys seemed to have no idea and continually tried to disprove my reason for buying something. Now, I know I'm young (19) and people tend to think us youngins' don't know sqaut, but I research everything I buy to make sure it's what I want and will do what I want it to do. But the guys at this particular Autobarn seem to treat me like a school kid with no respect. I know every Autobarn isn't like that and I understand that the retail industry has high turnover and low pay, but it's no excuse really, if there are no customers, there is no business. On the subject of orders; all up, the orders I placed and never received would of set me back around $600+. Now that might not be much to Autobarn as a whole, but it's a lot to me, and I would imagine that a decent part of their business comes from custom orders. Also, I was never asked to place a deposit, if I had of been I would have. And no, I don't want this to become a anti-Autobarn thread, it's just my personal experience and others. I gave them HEAPS of opportunity to provide a decent service, one guy did, but if I can't rely on someone or something, then I won't be back. Hope some of my babble cleared some things up :-) -

How Crap Is Your Local SuperAutobacs?
cobo_11 replied to Rezz's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Looks like someone or someones will have to get some SuperAutoBacs out here...wipe the floor with Autobarn and SuperCheapAuto. I'd give it a shot if I have money, and if it was possible... -

It really gives me the shits to be honest. You read the Autobarn Hot Products catalogue full of Blitz performance gear, Autometer gauges, top quality stuff and you think to yourself "wow, they've got some pretty good stuff in there, they must know what they are doing" then you go in...OMG, never again. Super Cheap Auto...talk about the biggest f*#&ing excuse for a auto store. It reminds me of all the B grade movies I've seen. What I don't get is, Autobarn has got a bloody suped up Supra and Super Cheap sponsor V8 Super cars I believe. So obviously someone knows what they're doing in these companies, why can't they instil it in their employees?? Actually, now that I think about it, they probably outsource all the work on these cars and just whack an Autobarn graphic on it to look like they know what they're doing. Well, have just started using Repco, so hopefully they are better. Might just have to cut my loses and use online stores like autospeed and MYC, at least they are setup by and run by people who know their stuff. So much for buying local... -
Just having a whinge really, but the Autobarn I go to is absolutely hopeless! I have ordered a whole bunch of stuff (oil, gauges, clamps, hose, headunit, etc but not all at once) and never EVER heard back from them. Put my name down and all my contact details, but nothing. Even went in there once to see what was going on after 2 weeks, and noone had any idea. Yesterday was the last straw, went in to get a T piece and the guy I spoke to said the size I was after doesn't exist! Went to Repco, and bam, had a whole packet of 'em! Looks like Autobarn have lost a customer and Repco gained one. Anyone else had exceptionally poor service from an Autobarn store? PS: It might be because it's a country Autobarn, noone seems to give two squirts. City stores might be different.

my noise is an engine bay noise, not interior, like behind the dash and stuff. might have to take it to Ice when I get a few other things done...

In regards to the plastic bit thing, am I right in presuming it the bit that goes around the climate control ( and the section) and all the way down to the gearknob? cheers

I wouldn't mind it [email protected] cheers

R32 GTS-t parts for sale....
cobo_11 replied to WHITE R32's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
wow, that cluster must be telepathic, the car still has some petrol left in it! LOL -
how much you want for the black plastic bit that goes around the center console? Could you send it with it breaking? (I split the stupidly thin bit at the rear of the gear stick)
-
just an experience of mine, getting 4 people in my R32 was a challenge, very squishy.

I also get this ticking noise when I first start the car up from cold. Idles for about a minute then goes away...dosen't sound nice when it does it though... It's not the lifters or injectors, very loud and distinct, and only happens when I start it in the morning. I have read a few other forums and could it be the oil pump not working properly when it's cold? I think we all would be GREATLY appreciative if someone knows what is happening... Cheers

yeah I forgot about Inverloch, nice place. Never been to Cape Patterson though. I know the area a little bit, but wouldn't want to be the "guide" and get us lost! hah I'll definately come along if people are willing to travel all the way down here. Might even get my cruise count above 0 and be able to join the club!
-
you might even get it cheaper buying through Greenline or Nengun, but there will be a wait...

I live in the South Gippsland area, not far from Morwell/Traralgon. Country cruises would be good, but I would imagine city/surburbia cruises would be more fun...? (haven't been on a cruise yet) There's nowhere really exciting to cruise down here, except phillip island maybe? or around the bigger towns (tralagon)? ahh, who knows. Let me know if one ever eventuates. :-)

damn! I wish I didn't live in the country

my car was missing, I took it in for a full service and for 'em to check this problem, they said one of my coil packs was not working properly and the timing was a bit off. They fixed the timing, and no more missing! maybe that might be the go for you...

if anyone has Austar or even Foxtel, the Bloomberg channel will be showing the Tokyo Motor Show from the 24th, I think it will be live, but not sure. I know I will be taping it!
