  1. you dont want to know the price of the Jack (ok about $900) the stands were about $240 a pair. not cheap but most solid bit of gear I have seen.
  2. sorry havent been back here for a while. got them from here: Jonathan Gant Jonair Services Pty Ltd 48 Cowie St, North Geelong VIC 3215 Australia Phone (61) 3 52779932 Fax (61) 3 52779543 Mob (61) 418376064
  3. no, left before lunch. no better times later in the day. was pretty happy with the time we got considering the car was a handful (oversteer) after we changed the roll bar settings. a few tweaks hopefully will sort that out for next time out.
  4. I recall the WRS guy at the track said it didnt think it was a puncture (at least not from trauma to the tread) but I guess with the way it is chewed up how could he tell. have you had time to give it a good going over Drew?
  5. Drew, some reckon that with the weight of our car we should be more towards 35 psi, I normally run around 35 psi but experiemented with 31 hot on tuesday. My tyres look fine and wear is good and even, with a fine ripple over the entire surface. did you check any temps on the day? do you have any suspenison components rubbing? damage during mounting i suppose is the only other thing I can think of. either way mate, sorry to see your day ended like this, you were putting out some impressive times.

would love to runa few laps with you guys. I am a beginner for sure so very interested to here everyones setup experiences. I was running slightly lower psi, around 31 on tuesday, previously about 35 with the second hand tyres. will aim for around 33 next time I reckon. still managed a pb with the new tyres but will be looking closely at suspension tuning for next round. also interested to hear what temps everyone is reaching on their slicks. I get big variations on inside/ouside of car on our clockwise tracks up here. might end up running a psi or more on the inner tyres to help get the temps up.
  7. congrats. It is good that you can travel to so many tracks! I am struggling with a 'road block' in that regard at the moment.

several things about temperature measurements: -temperature probes are superior to infrared as surface temperatures may not be representative, especially excessive cooling on the surface relative to the deeper rubber and outer side of the tyre -outside should be around 5-8 C lower than inside temperatures obviously noticing excessive wear patterns etc are also a good indicator of correct camber setup for your track and suspension setup.
  9. needed to move the coolers and add a more compact power steering cooler. also lower profile fan to fit intercooler.
  10. exhaust mainfod finished fabrication and fitted up, just before going of for sandblasting and coating
  11. Door to door racing would be fun but the reality is I could never get my wife to agree to let me participate. Dont even mention tarmac rally to her, the media outlets have not done us any favours over the years by inly reporting crashes/deaths etc. Income protection, TPD and life insurance would skyrocket (in my case, which I have investigated). As my missus is not exactly a fan of Motorsport I am lucky to have twisted her arm to let me do what I am doing. Therefore extracting every ounce of fun/competetion out if this format is all I can do for now.
  12. Thanks for the advice guys. Will look into a tranny cooler.
  13. The guy i bought from was an older Wealthy Japanese business man with cancer
  14. Yes, Patrol4x4.com Those off road guys modify harder than the skyline boys!
  15. Col, I have told Trent that if it looks like I am spending more money on the tow car than I am on the track car then he is to stop me, and use force if necessary
  16. Yep auto box is big! Can see why these things weigh so much. Can't wait to see how it drives with twice the power and monster torque!

thanks Martin, good to know we may be heading in the right direction. will verify temps and pressures with the setup at the track
  18. Exhaust manifold being fabricated, it is now finished and off for sandblasting/coating new goodies have arrived - intercooler and new power steering cooler (needed to be shifted) Luke at Mercury is fitting all the piping up today.

interesting Dunc, some say with 'awd' you need to dial camber out in the rear, others say still need 2-3 degrees jsut like the rear whell drive porsche cup cars run. we have had 1.7. the R35 does have a rear wheel driv bias I suppose Anyway, looking for more initially, will go for 2.5. pyrometer testing tomorrow will be the answer i suppose (that is if the camber kit arrived as planned!) many people mentioned 4 degrees up front was unecessary when I bought the front control arms. gotta say I think time has shown 4-5 up front is where you need to be with slicks at least. I will let you know how it goes.
