World Time Attack Challenge 2012

with the exception of ground effects, if you increase downforce by means of wings/flaps/etc you will also increase drag. top speed on a straight is secondary to average speed along the straight and average speed through the turns. amazing car. it will be interesting to see the impact on NEMO on 1. class rules 2. attracting even more big dollar builds. believe me with the increase in mainstream exposure, if any of the Targa or GT guys want to have a crack at a time attack car there will be more big dollar builds entering the field in pro class. though many of them may be purists and think anything not door to door is a lessor endeavor and lets face it, there are limited competitions where cars built to these loose regulations are currently relevent. I found it a little funny with Chris Eaton's car, he initially thought people who built a car and had a pro driver involved were crazy not to do all the driving themselves (eg how I shared driving with tarzan last year). looks like he changed his mind when the pressure was on as it looks like luffy did most of the driving, which I completely understand. Regardless of what people say, these cars dont drive themselves. it would have taken considerable skill to get that thing around the track in a 1:25. as someone said earlier, that thing looks to handle like an open wheeler with a shell -
just pointing out that a lot of private 2009 R35's are still listed at 115-120k on carsales, when most 2009 sales actually went for 95-105k, some even around the 90k. A Qld sunshine coast dealer even listed a super silver 2009 with 50,00km on the clock for 125k. they were shocked by my offer. I see now they have the car listed for 115k anyway, just some feedback for those looking for facts about recent sales.

you have to wonder how much the aero effected top speed. who cares though when you can dispatch turn one like it were a mere kink anyone notice what times chris eaton put down relative to luffy? phonomenal times by lots of teams this year -
lets just say I wouldnt be paying in the 100's for any 2009 when you can get a low km mint 2010 for under 110

well just purchased a black 2010 model. Good price and nice guy. 17,000km. apparently in VGC

nemo 125.7! wow -
they are out there though. the market will dictate the price to them in the long term. I am watching the prices expectantly. no rush.....
-
I think it would be fair to say that the prices you see listed on carsales are not what they sell for.

Guys, I miss having a street driven R35 and am looking at some on carsales. I am obviously looking to cast the net a bit wider though in here. probably an 09. looking for low cost but very good interior and exterior. milage not such a problem as the engine, tranny and a host of other things will be given the boot for something more substantial. dont know why but I have an itch for super silver or black let me know if any of you know of a car or yourself have one you are selling that fits the billfor sale

good to hear Kymbo. Trent is a good guy, as is the whole mercury team. He's even staying back tomorrow night with Luke and myself to help make the composite parts for my car. now thats dedication! how many workshops are in-house building an entire car including mechanical work and custom metal / composite fabrication. not to mention trackside support.

firewall and chassis mods finished and primed ready for paint, those who know the front of an R35 will see what we have done...

still going, but to keep to budget things have been slow. we won't be at WTAC this year but should have the car up and running for october at the latest and will have the bet part of the year leading up to WTAC 2013 for testing and will be ready to take on the cyber GTR. the firewall was finished off and the rear guards done. The final welds are being finished this week and the car will be off to paint very soon. The extensive carbon body work is underway but it is all custom and slow going to get right. will certainly have more pictures and information soon! also working on a new transmission. fingers crossed it all works out. will be big news for R35 fans to have an aftermarket track/drag transmission which is lighter/stronger and retains AWD!

and as most people know, our R35 won't be there this year. no catastrophes or other major issues with the build other than we have been ambitious with the work planned time wise relative to keeping things on budget. we hope to be on track in several months and spend the year testing at the track and having some fun. -

used slicks, best/cheapest way to get your shakedowns for mechanical gremlins out of the way prior to working on setup. we won't be at WTAC, won't get it all finished on time I'm afraid. Have opted to complete the build properly without crazy amounts of pressure and spend a good 10 months testing before the cyber GTR comes out. should be a great event this year! -
engine back from AMS. ready for more power front end foam mould being cut stock looking but not quite stock
-
still going. updates will be coming early june another big few months ahead

most of you already will know and many have suspected fro a while but for those that don't trawl the internet daily the Cyber Evo team was confirmed to reappear again this year this time with C west aero in replacement of the voltex, a haltech computer and back to support from Garage HRS should be interesting http://www.worldtimeattack.com/index.php/cyber-evo-will-return-to-defend-its-title/ -
Hi, all carbon parts were located in australia and are now sold.

I think you'll find the Nissan guys don't do anything special with all the technological wizardry when they service it other than change the oils / filters and look over the usual inspection points. ok they plug it into the consult but aftermarket guys have consults or COBB AP's to help them there. Plus the aftermarket guys are passionate about performance cars and service a few more highly specialised vehicles than the R35 service boys do between their bread and butter dualis and micra servicing. Also, if there is actually anything wrong with your R35 there is a fair chance they will take their sweet time diagnosing it and in the end they won't be doing anything more than bolting up replacement parts so don't be fooled into thinking they are something special.

there is a very good aftermarket fro teh R35 that beats the pants off what nissan can provide perfromance and cost wise. things like brakes are the easiest and best example.
