Poo-trol delivered yesterday. Makes my wife's Q7 look like a small front wheel drive runabout. Noel, I know you will be disappointed but a turbo is going straight into this thing.
-
Just purchased a new beast to tow the R35! Wife refuses to let me use the TDi Q7 for Towing 1999 GU Patrol Ti 4.5L petrol jobbie. Damn the diesels are hard to find under 1 million km's This one has only 14,000 km on the clock, and even smells like new! going in for a Turbo upgrade with the guys at Mercury Motorsport this week. Thanks guys Then off for a direct vapour injection LPG dual fuel conversion and a new fancy touch screen head unit because I am soft and like my gadgets

we started running the michelins at 35 hot. i think this was a little high for them. going down to 32 hot. usually measure pressures on the fist several sessions. the 3rd-5th sessions dont normally show much change as long as you have calibrated things 'hot' for both am and pm. not sure if this would suit the Dunlops or not. might be an icdea to contact dunlop and ask them.

Have bought the Petrol 4.5L GU. seriously good nick. anyone here put a intercooled turbo on one of these things?
-
would be good to see you out there on the new wheels and slicks Stuart!

The 99 Ti GU has 14,300km on it. Japanese businessman owned it. locked in his gold coast 'mansion' - only drove to church once a year sort of thing with no off road use. apparently even smells new. the dealer selling it sold it to him originally. will check it out. They are a major nissan dealer (nissan HPC) so their vouching for the Km's being genuine must mean something. I guess I will know when I see it. do I need that much truck? Thinking of towing the 2.5 tonne worth of GTR and extras around 12-20 times a year and maybe some interstate trips. might even take it off road too. I don't know what would scare the sh#t out of my wife more. a track session in the R35 or an off road session in a 4WD.

very hard to find the 4.2 TD's out there! am looking at a 99 GU 4.5L Petrol Pootrol Ti with extremely low km's offered to me by the dealer who sold me the R35. Damn thing is like new inside and out. tempted...

good thread. hope people dont mind it being resurected again. pretty sure I will get a patrol. there seems to be plenty of people on here with ample knowledge on the Patrol so wanted to ask some questions (sorry Marlin, cant go for a Jeep, my dad had three and I have bad memories of the damn things despite him loving them) As far as patrols go it sounds like the 3.0 engine is a no go. I know nothing about patrols and 4WD in general so need some guidance. As far as towing goes I need to tow 2.5 tonne - car/trailer/fuel/wheels etc. I take it there are 4.2 NA and turbo Diesel variants. should I opt for the NA and buy a aftermarket turbo kit or should I go for the OEM 4.2 TD? The Mercury guys will beable to do the work for me. which model/series is the best for me? I need to keep total cost under 20k but this will be my daily so dont want a chewed out dinosaur interior. happy to spend some money on mods but want total purchase and mods to 20k (knowing me this might blow out). I want an auto because I am lazy. any suspension/transmission concerns on any models/ any money to factor in fro the car in this area post purchase? prices obviously vary greatly with milage so after advice about what is too many k's on the clock for the various engine/models thanks Mark

I can't go but will be at QR on 15th feb will be at the remaining lakeside days though. Traction control is a real killer around there with the elevation changes so turn it off and work your way up to full pace.

Yep. Nismo GTR RC 1520kg, though I am not sure they are even referring to this. Blog by Kris http://www.gtrblog.com/2011/01/14/nismo-gt-r-rc-race-car-debut-now-available/ NAGTROC http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=46689

Yes the trade off for stripping out your GTR to become a track only car can be brutal. I drive a 2003 XT BA falcon around now. its grey so it blends in beautifully with the masses. instead of nodding my head to other GTR owners now I give a nod to the taxi drivers.

haha, I like this thread! I started out with the third option in mind then soon went for option 2. Wasn't long before I said bugger it this is way too much fun, lets go for option 1! careful though, it could happen to you too

the planned solution is a turbo back system with dump pipes included as in the picture of my SS version above. it would be cheaper than the GReddy product even though the GReddy system is not inclusive of dump pipes. how much weight savings is important to you varies from person to person and is also relative to what potential areas you have left to strip weight from the car. to me, an extra 15+kg weight saving is vital. This system will more likely offer 20+kg weight savings. those of you who know me know i don't muck around so serious enquires via PM please. I will be selling my custom made SS Turbo back solution pictured (dumps/midpipe/catback) when i get the new titanium exhaust. If you are interested let me know.
-
No, China. No one will do this locally in titanium for a sensible price. I have bought products from these guys before. They make products for numerous major companies.
-
As per the title, I am getting a custom 4 inch titanium exhaust made off the design of my 4 inch stainless steel system. I cant give you final pricing but it will be very reasonably priced. It will include dumps, midpipe and catback. possibly with a variable valve or with only a single side twin exit. mufflers (noise restrictions at some of my local tracks require this) but no cats. we already have the exhaust perform well with the tune and have a sound clip in SS version (see link in sig below) but I am chasing weight savings need to get a mimimum order together of 5. PM me any questions etc.

wheels sold! sorry to those who were keen but it was first in with the money in the end.
-
Plates sold! Wheels still need a home though

sorry to stray off topic but to answer Martin's question, the brake and tranny cooling is definitely noticeable performance-wise. I have my water cooling for the brakes and pump for the tranny hooked up to 2 switches. I certainly notice it by mid to late sprint session when I haven't turned them on. Will collect some data next season.
-
Never stop loving gunmetal! seriously have a look at martins water cooling system.
-
Mate, that about wraps it up for parts. Roll cage fab in january. Maybe one or two more surprises though!

Carbon fenders just arrived. look top quality and certainly light
