second hand 270/68-18 michelins. on the new 12 inch rears they were a bit stretched. sourcing some second hand slicks to better suit the new wheels 280/71-18 up front on 10.5 inch rims 310/71-18 rears on 12 inch rims might snag new slicks next year but til then, dodgy second hand scrap for me.

    Lakeside

well what can I say. everyone has been telling me to get my ass out to Lakeside all year. As I only starting visiting the race track in March of this year I thought I would cut my teeth out at QR, since then all my 7 track sessions have been at QR, until now. Lakeside was a religious experience, and I am not a religious man. There is so much history to this track and I found it so much more engaging than QR, I cant wait to get out there again. All the horror stories of carnage out there meant I was pretty timid. I was constantly out braking corners and lifting off the throttle where I probably needn't. I also left the traction control in R mode which was very intrusive with all the elevation changes, especially coming out of the eastern loop and really cutting my power heading out onto the main straight. I hope to be there monthly next year. Thanks to Paul Ruzic for organising another great day, and to Trent and Tess from Mercury motorsport for their support as always.
  7. price reduction! will sell for $2500.

  9. I reckon there is some really great value in a low km 2010 model (the ones that first came out). I really dont know if the extra 40-50 is worth it for a new 2012 model if you can find a good 2010 ADM low km example for $130-35k. the extra power is easily obtained with a Cobb tune which seem pretty safe to run from all accounts. the updated gadgets are a personal preference as are the subtle styling changes. I really only need the blue tooth hands free. My tom tom app on the iphone works a treat and saves me 5k in satnav upgrades. save the difference and spend it on having fun with the car at the track!
  10. the bonnet latches on both sides. If one side doesn't latch correctly it would look exactly like that. I'm guessing that is what is wrong here.
  11. thanks David! Would also consider outright sale of wheels for $6,500. half the price on new ones.
  12. Price reduction, make an offer!
  13. guys, as the car is track only now, I am looking to get rid of the wheels. catch is I still need a set of standard wheels and tyres for tuning etc. looking to swap these for your stock wheels and tyres plus cash my way. not worried about gutter rash etc. The HRE wheels are perfect on any colour GTR, with black centre and lip. no gutter rash and in perfect condition. never bent or in an accident. If you know HRE wheels you know these things are the finest quality. 6061 forged with titanium bolts. cost around $12,000+ new make me an offer! here are some pics.

    R35 Power

I recently had Paul Stokell drive the car. he was really impressed at the performance. looking at the data he sets the car up faster and gets to full throttle much quicker. an example is the hairpin turn 6 at QR where he gets it on full throttle 40-50 m earlier. this results in about 7kmph higher terminal speed in the straight. there are a few other tricks to the circuit but I wont divulge them all here despite all this we reckon technique and set up are still yet to be maximised to make use of all that power in the corners after planning the next few mods for this summer we have decided to leave the car at current power levels (435awkw - 580awhp) with the willall turbos we have further lightening mods, a roll cage and some suspension tuning to happen for the new year. new track wheels arrive next week! 10.5 up front and 12 inch out back. 12 inch rears should help get the power down better out of the corners
  17. hope you weren't throwing rocks at it from one of the overpases! I might do those next year Drew. next track outings - Lakeside 31st Oct (first time out there, really looking forward to it) - QR 23rd Nov Round 6 Ruzic time attack series
  18. Nah Noel I missed the first session as i was late from work and then the pads went after my first session out. Didn't take a spare set of pads so called it a day.
  19. Paul stokell diver training I got a whole 15 min of drive time.
  20. I know what you mean about the pads sticking. Not sure if that was a contributing factor otherwise it might be a more common occurrence. Will certainly be keeping a close eye on things
  21. went out for an afternoon track session today at QR have had the ME20 Pads in for 1 full and 3 half track days. have been brutal on them the last 2 times out on the national circuit. was about to head back out for the second afternoon session when a pair of black lines and some large 50c pieces of the pad material fell from the trailing edge of the backing plates of both front pads The last inspection of the pads prior to the last half track day showed no cracking of the pad material and reasonable pad thickness.
  22. I think the are running Michelin slicks. First time was at Bathurst. Not enough track time to fully test them unfortunately 28/71 - 18 31/71 - 18
  23. Video vbox lite. Very good bit of gear
  24. if your car is towards the end of its warranty, you are modding it or heavily tracking the thing then I wouldn't bother with Nissan for basic servicing, brakes etc. it is just a normal car in that regard so use any reputable workshop. I haven't been to Nissan in over a year and my car has somehow managed to survive despite regular track days and plenty of mods.

    R35 Power

interesting question. I would say another 50-70 kw would still be useful. I really have to feather the throttle in corners with that power for much longer than I did when stock but it is linear and controllable. the extra power really sees the time on the straights plummet. I also reckon with more experience I will obviously be able to progressively use more power earlier. I am carefully monitoring how early I am getting on the throttle, % throttle inputs and time to full throttle on my lap data, a handy feature with the Vbox can module. you can see the % throttle input on my videos, it isn't much coming out of some corners before I feel it getting loose. mind you I have never tracked with new tyres, always used second hand slicks which I personally get a an extra couple of days out of to save money on rubber! next year we are looking at a new custom turbo and exhaust manifold setup to get another 70kw or so, challenge will be responsiveness and linear delivery. if you want an out of the box solution the HKS 800 or the Alpha 10 package from AMS may get you this over the willall turbos, I dont know. the AMS guys seem to run pretty high boost though I think and I have no idea how linear there power delivery is. I suspect they start suffering the trade off top end power/responsiveness. The willall turbos though do a great job and the balance of top end and mid range responsiveness is a big improvement, easily reflected in lap times coming down. they are a pretty cheap option too when compared to other turbo solutions
