Gavin had problems in 2009 with V70's collapsing in the sidewall on Arrowsmith. This in ~1280Kg 944. Khumo admitted there was a problem (didn't say if it was age or failure and gave him another set for free). And Brian who I am doing Cradle Coast with this weekend in a similar 944 used v70's at the first THC in 2010 and after the event the tyres showed signs of sidewall failure. Has since gone to Yoki A050 M's and is getting a few events out of them (not to mention a lot more pace!)

Well said, really puts it in perspective. Have you looked at the course this year??? Day 4 you start in Strahan and practically drive back to Elizabeth town and back to Strahan in a day. Then Day 5 you finish Tarraleah and just want to get home to Hobart, but no you have to drive nearly back to Oatlands for another stage plus finish on Grasstree. Pretty Epic! Reckon I might have to pack some Redbull and NoDoz for the transports!

Nah they still use the tried and trusted jack and stands. Not really very hard to add to a car. In fact that site has all those sorta sill stands and brackets etc (make it yourself but it gives you an idea).

So on the topic of the 8 tyre rule, what are peoples thoughts on what to run? A set of Mediums and a set of hards? 8 all the same? Yoki/Dunlop/Khumo/Hankook/Bridgestone/Sava/Nexen/Federal/Bob Jane???? I found if it was wired into a current Stilo WRC AMP (12v DES) it shits over both internal and external. I has to be a Mono RCA to 3.5mm pin cable though.

Remember 2008 in the 34, we were surrounded in the line up at the start of each stage by evo's. Several of which were later found to have stroker motors and all the illegal bits under the sun. Where were they in the results though? no where... instead of perhaps coming 37th they came 34th. The same year Steve Glenney won in a legit 9. All comes to driver ability.. Seem to recall another team that didn't do half bad in 2009 in an alleged RB30DET power 32.... Id love to see the look on those haters faces when you stripped the engine down! Eddie can seriously drive, I have seen him in his Escort on the gravel, times being mixed with more 4wd machinery than 2wd.

Yeh that one was kept pretty quiet, and I think a big congrats needs to go out to CycloneGTR? I believe maiden victory?

I was under the impression that it was to do with poor road conditions and lack of community/council support. Could be wrong though.
