Just looking into options for what brake pads to run in our Targa car. Its a bit of a pain as we've had to downgrade the front brakes from brembo's to R32 GTR's in order to clear the standard wheels (16x6.5 s15 rims). Still running the brembo's on the rear (2 piston). I don't know much about brake pads but the names Pagid, Hawk, SBS are the few mentioned. Im not really sure what heat range is required for Tarmac rally, but one would assume you would want good initial bite etc etc Anyway ive looked at Ferodo DS3000 and they look ok, has anyone used them? What about Project MU or Nismo pads? Just looking around as might be able to get sponsor to supply a set, depending on recommendations and availability.

Weather caught a few people out! We didn't even consider the need for another set of tyres all weekend! till lunchtime saturday of course! The bollards were out, yet there was still crap all over the road so go figure I noticed your on the invited list now Ben

sorry not quality but shell design different. yep mine is a SA05.

He looked quick (not as quick as whitey), but there was reports his engine wasn't running too well, but i guess new car need to experiment. The heat was a major killer with many people wearing out a set of tyres by savage river and not really allowing for extras.

Hmm well what a blast, even with our mixed results. After many "I hope you have a bag of cement in the tray" and laugh's aplenty we were placed 17th outright at the end of saturdays carnage packed sweltering hot day. Who was laughing now! Sunday was a prick though arriving at Time Control for the first stage of the day the car stalled and wouldn't start again. Pretty painful watching as the last few cars drive past to start the stage and all you can do is watch time tick by. The resulting failure was a split fuel line in tank, which was replaced the week before when the fuel pump was upgraded, unfortunately the wrong type of hose was used that shouldn't be submerged in fuel and it basically disintegrated with some help from the crappy clamps holding it digging into the hose itself. Regardless we had a blast, surprised alot of people and hope to be back again in either the ute (a bit more developed in the suspension department) or something a bit more along the lines of 4wd turbo combo. I hear congratulations are in order Stu?

Laurie will still do a pretty good job with your car, i know of a few R33's he works on, one of which has done something like 350,000 and hasn't missed a beat.

Interesting, I got revolution to send both a GP Jet 2 and GP Jet f down, i thought the Jet 2 was quite inferior in comfort and quality compared to the Jet f. not saying its a shit helmet, but i preferred the Jet f. Even tho the Jet 2 looks a bit better. Jet f also has provisions for HANS, which is something ive decided is a MUST! Oh and the liner is removable in the Jet f. Think its more $600 mark???

Well plans have fallen through and i have had to part with all the good stuff off my car. This turbo was custom built by Rotormaster and is not something you can walk in and buy from them, I was lucky enough to secure this through an aquaintance. Its more like a GT3040 in specs and have been told its similar to a HKS 3037pro S It has a 0.82 rear housing 0.70 front housing and secret spec wheel trims (i don't even know them) T3 flange Its to suit an RB25 or similar Make 1 bar boost by about 3700rpm 270rwkw at 17 psi 369rwkw at 24 psi (on C16) Very drivable off boost and the power doesn't come on like a light switch Its probably done less than 5,000km's since being built. Comes with Mild Steel Dump Flange and high tensile bolts Turbosmart 45mm Progate brand new never used Horsepower in a box highmount braided line kit Horsepower in a box Heat beanie $2,200 for the lot ONO Prefer to sell the lot in one go Located in Launceston, Tasmania contact via PM or email [email protected] No time wasters Cheers Tim,

Thats the one, think from memory it does something like low 63's on street tyres and with pedders lowered springs and shocks! Anyone else heard the rumors about the new 997 porsches possibly not running? To do with suspesnion pickup points and the PSM (Stability Management). I know for a fact Tony Alford is running his GTR in Rally Tas and Probably Targa now because of this and from reports i'd assume Richards and Quinn also won't be running the new machine.

Just keen for a show of hands who's entered or is on service crew or just going to watch. Im Navigating for the first time, which will be a good lead up to Targa in of all things a VY Commodore Ute! Should be a good event and some tuff competitors in the mix.

I heard that when a a V8 supercar is built the test how much twist the chassis has by using XX amount of force to make a 1 degree twist, after 12 months it is tested again and surpirsingly it takes something like 1/3 less force to make that 1 degree change. Hence a 15-16 y/o care probably has a HEAP less rigidity. im no expert on the situation, thats just what I was told by a guy who would know. None the less I love the old Gibson GTRs and they will always be a favorite car to me.

pissed off i can't do this, licence hasn't turned up, been too busy sorting car out and its not ready... might slip out for a look still though Ben has your licence turned up yet?

All in good time, just gotta get rid of the black cash register and then start looking at something that was built in the last decade, and keep it somewhat originale (no more conversions). Oh and assess my living situation (those that know, will know what i mean). Targa is just a small kick in the reality guts.

I don't get out to the karts much (nor know much whats going on with them), I'll ask a guy I know who races. I remember seeing a twin engine in the open class a while back though.. That was quick!

Oh thats great, I heard Whitey's car finally sold! Se you there in it!

Personal issues and other persuits. PS if we are lucky maybe a set of 17x7's will do the job, pending some other formalities

Who are you with Marlin?

never mind don't need em anymore.... 16x6.5s it is

Yeh i did read them! just wasn't making much sense at the time, just trying to look for options to use what we have.... which is a small budget It would be nice to have a budget to choose what car to enter, but alas at our age (young and stupid) you don't have such a thing. Maybe in a few years time... You know when I get that big promotion Not in it to win it, just to get a taste of Tarmac rallies (beauty of the rookie rallye). I reckon if we enjoy it, we'll be back next year, and the year after etc maybe one day even in one of those cars that starts with the letter P and ends in an E

Hmm im just trying to figure out wether we can't run M3 or not, currently nominated as M2, but have noticed a few cars running M3 which generally fall into a M2 category. If we could run M3 it would save HEAPS of headaches IE with our radiator, sump and wheel size to clear the brembo's. I might have to read it again when im not so tired.

Take a DC2 Type R Integra for a spin, you'll convert to FWD Did anyone ready that Marcos Ambrose has 16 cars to drive this season in NASCAR? they get shipped all over the country and he has 2 or 4 favorite cars. Nice to have a choice
