I believe there is some majorly reinforced gussets which bolt to the rails (you can see it in the render below better on the back legs) Matt Close had to over come this with some careful cage work, and you know how anal he is about doing things right (Audi's are all alloy chassis too).

The ATO isn't concerned about if the grid at Eastern Creek is full its concerned about people paying enough tax! Lol! Advertising/Sponsorship should be proportionate IE if your business is turning over $1Mil and your spending $900,000 on Sponsorship and advertising alarm bells will be sounding. Your accountant should be able to advise on an appropriate method and/or amount for sponsorship/advertising/marketing or find some creative way to justify it

Fingers crossed I might be doing Scouts SA and Coffs Coast (WRC) rounds of the ARC later this year, car is back from body works this week and then goes to Victoria to spend some time with Johnny the chief engineer at Activ Rallysport. Getting it prepped to run in the premier class so back to Ultimate 98, but still on 34mm restrictor. Pretty excited, but its gonna be a busy few months with Scouts, Coffs, Classic Adelaide (with Marlin) and then final round of our state gravel championship all within a few weeks of each other!

All above comments are valid, however and I can kinda see warps perspective. If you were self employed and pouring considerable amount of money into sponsoring your own habits, the ATO might have the view that your purely siphoning money from your business to avoid paying personal income tax and keep your taxable income down. Then they might come after you, but it would have to be an ill proportionate value in relation to your business turnover. But to be quite frank and if you have a good enough accountant I highly doubt this would ever happen as the ATO is understaffed and flat out chasing tax avoiders.

I don't think its necessary until its an amount that attracts the ATO's attention (IE more than $10,000). Our rally team this year landed a few cash paying sponsors and we looked into this to see if we could write off some of our expenses. Ive spoken at large with my accountant about options, but nothing was really worth while and as I wasn't really carrying out a business (trading in anything other than good will of advertising), setting up a company/getting an abn would just be a costly exercise for no benefit.
