  1. you really have to hate that sorta accident, i was in one 4-5 months ago and i was the car in the middle, insurance is being a prick too, i wasn't at fault either
  2. yeh just doing the belt on mine, you will notice that on the cam gears there is a white mark, you will also notice that on the backing plate there is a white mark, you will possibly notice that the belt has a white line across it, the crank also has these same markings. it you rotate the crank (can take a few turns) till all these marks meet up this is i think TDC #1. makes life much easier doing it like this
  3. Hey if anyone has a stuffed RB25DET sitting round i need a few parts, well bolts off it. I need 2 of the three which hold the CAS in place and allow timing adjustment. And i need the bolt and nut that is the left most on the water pump (standing at front of car looking at engine). If it helps there is one at the top which holds the bracket for the alt and then the next one down and left is the one i am after.
  4. yeh agreed, but it has a mix of mineral and synth so maybe if i just use a bit to thin so it completely drains out

  6. how much you looking at spending? I just purchased one around month and 1/2 ago. be prepared to spend a bit, and have cashed stored away for any problems you may have. you will be looking at paying between $11K and $30K for one its worth it though as in stock form they blow away pretty much anything
  7. sorry can't do the group buy, a mate works there and just gives me a discount when the boss isn't looking, but the bonus is motul on special $55 minus say $10 disc + at the moment you get a free Motul cap! see my problem is recently my oil light came on while pulling up down hill at and intersection. i pulled over immediatelly and left the car overnight, checked it the next morn to find it below the low mark, now my sump is a bit mashed up from importers, so i reced out and got the oil i thought it had in it Fuchs 10-30, topped it up to get home (200km from home) i topped it up with full synthetic and checked with the oil can i had at home to find its mineral based, so now i got to flush engine out ( got some industrial engine flush that you can't buy off the shelf). im thinking buy oil now save $$$, car is off the road right now so i get a sump and change that too then i should have to worry about a thing, changing water pump and timing belt too sorry to be a post hog

I remember the last thread.. probably cos i started it, but i recall someone saying they got Mobil 1 and said it was ok, then switched to Motul 4100 (i think) and said they had less of a pressure drop etc and the car ran better and all wanting to know opinions on this as i am tossing up between Mobil 1 5-50 or motul 5-40 both on special at Autobarn + i get a discount a mate put the mobil in his R33 and said its good, i really wanna go the motul though just from what i have heard/ the success i have had with it in the past in my dirt bikes etc by the way i have a mild RB25DET (now, didn't last post)

Hey dude, I am very good mates with phat_r33, we cruise together, i drive a S13 Silvia with a list of mods including an RB25DET conversion. we wanna see more imports about the place so if you wanna meet up just come in town one night, or check us out on Elysium forum. Unfortunatelly you won't see either of us about as phat_r33 is having some panel work done, and my car is off the road having a water pump/timing belt change, and things really haven't been going to plan. Would love to see your car though, as i love r32s but couldn't afford one at the time
  11. Thanks guys, i have taken everything off except the belt and pump now, thanks to your advice. i have ordered a new pump and belt, and await their arrival, hopefully they get here by the weekend. Last question? where is the markings on the crank?
  12. thanks that makes a bit more sense, i have noticed the marks on the pulleys, not on the backing plates, however i will check, have not got bottom pulley cover off yet but will try your method i noticed on my belt that the markings on it are not lined up with the markings on the belt, i imagine that if the belt was put on correctly this wouldn't matter though. thanks
  13. Well my water pump was leakin for a while, got pretty bad at one stage so i decided id replace the seal. Anyway taken everything off, undone all the bolts i 'THOUGHT' were holding the water pump on and tried to take it off. Wouldn't budge! I took more of the cam belt covers off and realised that the water pump goes right across the block and was like shit im gonna have to take the cam belt off. I haven't taken the cam belt off yet as i am too scared of putting the timing out, can anyone give me some hints as to the best ways of keeping it all set? and whats the best method to find piston #1's TDC on the compression stroke, without taking the rocker cover off and literally looking? and can some body suggest a method of removing the crank pulleys? please help... i need to get the car back on the road
  14. radiator does need to be taken out, makes life so much easier. i am in the same position as you right now about to replace water pump and timing belt. need to know about the crank pulleys aswell

  19. Hey well on the 1st & 2nd November a huge group of us are comming down to hobart for a cruise, mainly for the TASASCA sound off at the casino and to get smashed and stuff. If i am not mistaken there will be a large group of 'Riced' cars, and a few imports, them being largely R33 GTSt, Soarer, 180sx, AE86?, hopefully i will have my RB25 Silvia ready and regoed cos its gonna be one hellava cruise (for tassie anyway)

  25. yeh cos if you live more than 4Kms outta town you cant get DSL and dial up is too slow you just don't bother (thanks boss for getting DSL )
