Ok i am just trying to figure this out too My car has had some extensive work done to the suspension, (adjustable everything). as opposed to my mates identical car which is stock. we tried to put his wheels on which are supposedly the right offset for the car(don't know the offset of them, how can i measure), onto my car. first of all my steering arm hit the inside of the rim, causing them to rub when i rotated the wheel, ok then they just didn't look right. i had simmons on it previously which sat just in the guard (not rolled, didn't quite touch) but had to remove them for a little brake clearance problem. now i have 17x7" with a +38 offset these clear the strut by ~7mm but sit in the guards a little. how can i figure out what offset is right for my car? if i go to say a lower figure will that bring the wheel out more into the guard? HOW TO MEASURE WOULD BE SWEET!!!

Well if you guys think its so hard, its not i have a guy in another forum with a bluebird, which has live axle just as the skyline does. he converted the rear end to irs in a weekend, using an R30 skyline bum. he admitted he didn't know shit but just followed a guide placed up by another user it required a tiny bit of welding and mainly bolts through the floor pan and the 80s skyline rear ends are not shit, well admittedly R30s are still faily basic but r31s change a fair degree much more like the wishbone type in r32s by the way anyone wanna buy my wheels?

Hey dude nice to see you in another skyline forum. thats sorta the reason i didn't bother going ahead with turboing my l28. not many ppl know much about doing it. there is alot of frigging around to do and the gains are only marginal that is why i am going the whole hog and converting to an rb20det i would however say you are spot on with the water from the throttle body, just bypass it through the turbo and back where it was supposed to go

Yeh thats the one, except now i have 17s on it and its about 2 inches or more lower. scrapes like shit everywhere what have i done to it lately? well i had a commodore up my ass a few weeks back they thought id be a good spit roast, my car thought otherwise. still waiting on a fix (about $6000 worth of fix) i am probably going to be selling these wheels soon if your interested (the 17s) to fund some new projects

I have 17X7 +38 offset 4X114.3 wheels on my R30 skyline (which is same as r31 in offsets) have no trouble, there is about 7-8mm clearance between strut and tyre at the front (205/40/17). and they actually sit in the guards a bit too much (nothing a 10mm spacer wont fix). regarding wheel spacers, to a transport inspector they are a defect, but in an engineering point of view they are fine, i spoke with the guy that engineers major modified vehicles and he said they are fine if they are made right. I had some laser cut to fit on one of my cars and had no trouble with them on the topic of r31s have you considered an IRS rear end conversion?
  6. rsx84 and outlawskyline my wheels are still the 4X114.3 PCD, the wheels are Concept Trilogy's in 17X7. they are a +38 offset, bought from tempe tyres. some guy tells me they are chrome dipped in USA or something? i am actually thinking of selling these, considering my car does not get driven anymore (involved in accident still waiting insurance pay out). was thinking of advertising in the for sale section, but i previously tried to post a cd player for sale and it wouldn't let me post, kept saying VB message shit i also have a pair of simmons V5 for my car that i may consider selling if i can get the wheels i want
  7. yeh the live axle makes for fun drifting and makes for more direct drifting don't think drifting on 17s is a problem but damn tyres would be getting expensive! why not get your LSD fixed? surely the clutches are just worn or something
  8. Jap drifting is about being 90 degrees to the corner. before, during and after the corner. doing a skid round a corner and kicking the back end out is not drift
  9. yeh either a Rb20 or a 1JZ would be a sweet option into an R30, they both affordable and go like stink! I WANT ONE!!!

Anyone know the best spring rates for an R30? i seem to recall jenesis used to have it on their website. not there anymore. when i bought my car the springs in the rear have been cut heaps and it sits real low and looks cool with heaps of camber, but it chews tyres real bad, i have heard you can slot the X member to counter act this? also datsport mods them to be adjustable but its like $500 the reason your car bounces when the springs are chopped is because thesprings are no longer as heavy and they are shorter, therefore making them softer and tghey hit the bump stops and bounce off them (it also wrecks your bump stops)

There is a few tricks to mod your L24E, out of the factory they run slightly lean, common fix for this is to put a resistor inbetween the AFM and ECU. another is to change the pitch of the flap in the AFM, mine has had this done i know that for a fact. a few other mods you can do is enlarge the throttle body to an RB30E one, the airbox is very restrictive as is the AFM. I don't actually know how you put a pod on yours cyrius, but ideally the best thing to do is put in a new fuel only computer and get rid of the AFM should increase power dramatically extractors aren't really nessesary unless you have done all the above + cam and head work get a good 2.5" mandrel bent zorst that goes all the way up to where the headers meet

Yeh ive been playing with it for a bit, it seems the 200SX type X (180SX) with about ~400hp, dumpt and hard, camber front drifts exceptionally well and you can link corners very well, still can hoop it in lower gears if not careful though also played with a 300zx with about 460hp and it was beautiful, damn thing drifted perfectly lot of trouble to spin it

I am assuming you mean the one thats was a $POA? as far as i could tell it has S2 headlights, carbon bonnet, a front bar that looked kinda crap, gold 6 spoke 18s, GTR wing, FMIC, Trust TD06 turbo, ext wastegate, forged pistons and 245Kw at wheels. can't be bothered to list anymore. as far as i know he wants $25 or 27K
