out of curiosity, how much are you guys paying for the real GT3071R?

have you checked for vacuum leaks?

hehe, yeah sorry that's what i meant. that's how i ran my GT3040R (with A/R .63) on my cossie a few years ago and no problems causing boost, even given the massive 82mm comp wheel. although, it's restrictive and mismatched turbine combinations that usually cause boost control problems. i would've thought the better matched GT3071R (with smaller comp wheel) would alleviate these problems given the much smaller amount of restriction/backpressure with the larger 60mm GT30 exhaust wheel. maybe there's a flaw in the housing design??

isn't skylinecouple using the GT3071R with A/R .82 exhaust housing? it looks like if the .63 is required, external wastegate is the best way to control boost.

if you're looking to have an rb20 turbo hi-flowed, the ideal thing is to get one which is in need of a rebuild and using that. in this way, if yours is good, you can keep it for later down the track if you ever want to put the engine back to standard or you could sell it as a good turbo. kapish?

check that you don't have a leak in the intercooler pipes or any other hose.

I'd keep that $6500 aside in readiness for an engine rebuild. But if you have a separate budget for that, i'd recommend a good clutch (if manual) and a good-flowing exhaust manifold to make full use of that HKS hair-dryer you have.

ok. the reason i asked is b/c a friend told me about a United petrol station in Doncaster East (reynolds rd i think) which had their unleaded tanks filled with diesel by mistake a few weeks ago. i guess u don't have to worry about it.

Disco, very informative as always. i have a question, to overcome the T3 flange issue with the Garrett GT25xx BB turbos, what are your thoughts of using the RB25 turbine housing with cartridges such as the GT2860R or GT2871R (48-52T)?? do u think this is a worthwhile option to look at for a street car? cheers, GT

well, not really. i bought the car with a heap of spare parts as it used to have this RB24 & Trust T67 kit running in it before i bought it. the car is currently running in complete stock spec, but if i upgrade anything i will do it with the outlook of eventually having the RB24 & T67 running in it again, so i want to do it once. i'll check PF, thanks GTST.

yeah, it seems to be Just Jap's new intercooler brand. i know the chinese made coolers would do the job, but not sure how well they do their job. also, the thing is, i have a complete Rb24 engine in parts in my garage along with a Trust T67 kit which i'd like to put on the car one day so i'd like to get something that will also work with a higher HP range. Also, i'd be happy with a GTR cooler but i haven't been able to come across one which is why i've been looking at the Just Jap GTR replacement cooler.
