  1. i agree with Dale in that the ideal combo for a RB20DET would be a 48T GT2871R with a RB25 exhaust housing. this would allow the turbo to easily mate with the standard manifold and dump pipe if required. the 56T comp wheel is just too big for the 76T turbine where it is able to flow enough air for ~475hp, whereas the 76T's efficient limit seems to be ~400hp. Also, i believe the 52T is probably as big as you'd like to go on the GT2871R although be it with an A/R .86 exhuast housing for ease of flow and increased efficiency. if you look at the garrett website (www.turbobygarrett.com), you will see that the efficiency of the 76T turbine actually decreases as you go bigger in compressor wheel. anyway, just my 2c, feel free to put me in my place if you feel you need to
  2. how much white smoke is there? if it's pouring out, and there's no boost, your turbo is FARKED!! looks like you've blown the exhaust oil seal and the white smoke is the oil burning in your exhaust. happened to a friend in his VL years ago. unfortunately i was driving it at the time given that he had no license.
  3. hey guys, interesting discussion here. so what's the final consensus on the suitable combination for a streeetable RB20DET? i think the 48T GT2871R with an A/R .86 exhaust housing would be a good comprimise b/w spool and outright power given the smaller trim compressor wheel and larger exhauast housing, or for even better response the GT28RS (hks 2530 equivalent) with the A/R .86 housing. the only downside to this is the GT25 inlet flange on the exhaust housing.
  4. FA mail sent donkeh hey man, 300rwkw is easy when there is an RB24 inside ;-)
  5. don't be so harsh on the RB20 Ash, you know it's got the minerals to keep other engines honest ;-)
  6. TO4, you have a pm.
  7. not taking the piss out of anyone, but i think the word 'hi-flow' really is being used quite a lot these days, sometimes for the wrong reason. xxx_25L, if you don't want too much lag, you can go with a GCG 'hi-flowed' turbo which will make things easier while fitting. another option is a Garrett GT3071R with an A/R .82 exhaust housing which would be reponsive enough given the smaller compressor wheel, and plenty of flow given the A/R .82 exhaust housing.
  8. check this link out, it has everything you need to know and more. http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catalogu...haft-specs.html
  9. hey SK, thanks, that makes sense. hey, actually, again in example 2, you state the same mods although with different power levels, that being from a different turbine cover. what turbine cover was that? Example 2 R33TST with R33GTST GCG Ball Bearing High flow and 256 Tomei Poncams = 260 rwkw. R33GTST with R33GTST GCG Ball Bearing High flow and 256 Tomei Poncams = 273 rwkw. Gain from changing turbine cover and tuning = 13 rwkw
  10. SK, in example 2, am i correct in reading that you made more power with a R32GTST GCG Ball Bearing hi-flow turbo? please clarify.
  11. dude, what setup do u have that makes 260rwkw?
  12. also known as pinging (pinking by some)
  13. how much dude?
  14. well done dude. that's awesome power out of the RB20/22. i have a Trust TD06-25G kit sitting in the garage which i wouldn't mind putting on my car but i'm afraid it will be too laggy. maybe i should put the RB24 together ;-)
  15. hey dude, has the intercooler been sold as yet? if not, how much inc. shipping to melbourne?
  16. hey dude, did u manage to find any news on this Sierra?
  17. Roy, where is this Sierra that you speak of, and who has purchased it?
  18. I certainly hope not boy!!!
  19. i just picked up my line, so thought i'd put up the details (not much to brag about though) ;-) 1993 R32 GTS-T (5 spd) RB20DET (wrecker engine - standard internals) stock RB20DET turbocharger & dump pipe (stock boost) stock exhaust and inlet manifolds stock AFM stock injectors, etc stock intercooler & BOV 3.5" aftermarket cat-back exhaust K&N pod filter Apexi PFC - conservative tune 132 rwkw @ stock boost p.s. i have bits sitting at home waiting to go on to get this thing boogying
  20. awesome power there Peter, congrats. i noticed your Intake Temp is pretty high.
  21. she looks nice grim, can't wait to see the results. also, i think you made a good choice turbo wise. i've been eyeing this combo out and think it would be perfect for the RB20, unfortunately, i don't have the cash to buy one of those atm, plus i already have a Trust TD06-25G kit sitting at home waiting to go on ;-) good luck dude, let us know how she goes.
  22. dude, 320rwhp = 238rwkw. that ain't exactly low power for 16psi. that by my standardsis a good effort. how does it feel when u drive it on the street? if possible, show us your power graph/AFRs.
  23. disco, i'm actually looking for a VG30/R34 (A/R .63) housing to suit my t3 turbo sitting at home, which will be going on my new car soon.
  24. Hey Gun, how much do UAS sell the VG30/R34 exhaust housings for?
  25. would u be after brand new ones?
