  1. INASNT, that's the breather hose from the catch-can to re-circulate the ventilated gases. legally and environmentally, that's the proper way to do it rather than veinting it out to the atmosphere.
  2. the Nismo turbos are rated at about 320hp each, so they'll be good for about 650bhp on the RB26DETT. my friend's aren't that old as they were reco'd 6 months prior to removing them (removed last month) and they were only run at 12psi. he's selling them b/c he came across a pair of HKS GT2530s. if you're after brand new units, check these guys out: http://www.japanesemotorsport.com.au/partsinstock3.htm
  3. the HKS GT2530s or the Nismo N1 turbos are the best options for a street GTR. if interested, a friend of mine (in melb.) is selling a pair of R32 Nismo GTR turbos.
  4. re: boost control, fyi, a good $30 press. regulator does wonders with an external wastegate when plumbed in correctly.
  5. thanks for the info dude.
  6. cool, thanks steve.
  7. steve, how low does the CR drop with the 1.6mm h/gasket?
  8. i think you mean a GT3037 if it's HKS. Steve is the man to ask about the GT3037S as he has one on his R33 which is making good useable power. Steve, the floor is yours ....... ;-)
  9. yeah, i think he just wants to get rid of it and get something bigger.
  10. check this out if you're interested in a HKS GT2535. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=35520
  11. that's a true point, but it's the only way to make them grip
  12. nocab72, according to Ray Hall's turbo match app, it seems that with a rev limit of 9000rpm and 26psi on an RB26, you will require a GT42 with A/R 1.22 exhaust housing which would give you ~700bhp and 64lb/min worth of air flow. http://www.turbofast.com.au/TFmatch.html yeah, it sounds all good and sweet but then again, i'm not too sure how this turbo would be for a street GTR, i would dare say that it would be quite laggy down low but with a monstrous top end power band.
  13. you're cool dude. i actually found out from my friend yesterday that the car i mentioned actually ran 18-19psi when it made that power. also, another car with that same turbo made 285rwkw on 24psi. i guess the SOHC makes quite a difference to power as compared to DOHC. actually, my 2L cossie engine (DOHC) made almost the same power a VL RB30ET (SOHC) would make with the same turbo on the same boost, so i'm happy. btw, the VL i mentioned which made ~260rwkw with the GT3040 (A/R .63) has run an 11.67@115mph at calder park, and fyi, it's a 5 spd manual.
  14. Joel, i could be wrong about the boost but i think it was close engouh to 20psi anyway. mind you, this engine was internally standard with no porting or cam.
  15. cool. where were u again?
  16. my friend and P.E.T Mods is helping me out with the turbo work. not sure dude, need to try and find some free time. when's it good for you?
  17. aahhh, don't ask dude. we were having disputes with the trubo supplier and when we came to an agreement, the dude from garrett said that he'll send down a A/R .82 which should be fine, but they actually sent down the A/R .63, and before i knew it, it was already on the car. i think it should be ok though as the same combo with a A/R .63 made ~260rwkw on an RB30ET at ~20psi. if i'm not happy, i'll be sending it back to sydney and asking for a .82.
  18. Joel, it should be able to flow an efficient ~50lbs/min worth of air, which would be good enough for about ~500bhp. http://www.turbofast.com.au/FlowTO4B.html MrPrez, thanks dude, i'll keep my fingers crossed as ~240rwkw is what i'm after at about 17-18psi. the turbo is on the car atm, the dump pipe flange should be done today and hopefully tuned tomorrow so i'll update this thread when she's ready. to be honest, i'm a bit sceptical about the A/R .63 being a little on the small side as the compressor wheel is pretty big on the GT3040. i guess we'll find out tomorrow.
  19. thanks. it's actually going on a Sierra Cosworth RS500 which is a short stroke, large bore 2L. other mods include; * Autronic SMC, 4x550cc 13b injectors (and 4x270cc injectors on secondary fuel rail), 45mm turbosmart ext. w/gate, full 3" exhaust system, factory forged pistons, s/steel h/gasket, ARP head stud kit, std cams, std bosch hi-volume fuel pump, catch can, etc. it has made 221rwkw before with a bush-bearing Garrett 60-1 turbo on 16-17psi, but i wanted to try out the new Garrett GT range, hence the fitment of my GT30. If it's not better than the bush-bearing turbo (mid-range torque, response and air-flow), then the 60-1 is going back on with more boost.
  20. no probs dude. that's actually the same core that was recommended to me, but since my GT3040 came up as a good deal, i thought i'd go for it, so we'll see how she goes. i have been informed that we'll be going with the A/R .63 exhaust housing so we'll see how things go.
  21. RBsileighty, fyi, the compressor map which u referred to is actually for the smaller GT30 compressor wheel in the 500hp core. the 600hp GT30 compressor is way bigger than this one and can flow heaps more. btw, it's a good website with heaps of good info.
  22. is the turbo on yet dude?
  23. maybe, you should save your $$$ for the forgie engine build which u might need later on.
  24. i had no idea, thanks for pointing it out even though, this sale has nothing to do with you.
  25. since when? i first advertised this last october and nobody mentioned anything about not being able to advertise for others.
