still trying to get some pics (bump) -
not many street cars that do 10's are in full street trim given that they run slicks, no exhaust, avgas, etc, etc. a genuine '10 sec street car' is not an easy task unless it has 4wd like the GTR.

i'll try and get some from my cousin's hubby and i'll email them to anyone that's interested. -
hey squizz, i didn't imply that the RB20 box will be good for 10's, i was mearly saying that it will be a simple bolt-up operation if he goes the RB30 conversion which will be nice for the street. do u think a 3 spd auto with a 4000rpm converter, factory 4.11s in the ass is streetable? meggala, you're right, although $7.5k would only be for the engine w/out ECU/loom/injectors, etc, twin bb turbo's would cost more on the $4-5k, full fuel system would be about $1k, ECU (Power-FC) ~$1.5k or Autronic/Motec ~$3k, injectors - ~$1k and you've forgotten manifolds and external wastegates (needed for this kind of power) which would be more in the field of $3-4k. So, you're looking at about $17-18k+ for a standard (reco'd) RB26DETT engine where for less than that, you'll have a fully rebuilt and forged RB30 bottom end along with the RB25DET which is very capable of producing the stated ~700hp reliably. Also, given that it is a larger capacity engine (3000cc vs 2600cc) there will be more torque and it will produce the power easier, with less boost and rpms. Speak to Mattlowth, he'll tell u what it costs and the capabilities of the engine. his is making 320rwkw (430rwhp) on only 16psi. I'm sure if it's pushed a bit more, it will comfortably and reliably make over 500rwhp.
-
the RB30/25DET conversion would be the most cost effective as no mods are required to fit it in the engine bay. It will sit onto the factory RB20 engine mounts and it will bolt straight-up to the RB20 gearbox, so i think this is your best option if u want to look at sticking to a budget, otherwise if u have the $$$ to spend, the 2JZ-GTE is a very very nice option.

enjoy your stay dude. how long u there for? PM Me. go the cossies ;-)

meggala, you yourself know that even the RB30ET itself (without the RB25 head) is capable of producing up to 700hp which has been proven by many workshops who are pushing up to and over 400rwkw along with 9-10 sec 1/4 mile times. Given the advantage of the increased flow of the RB25 head over the SOHC RB30 item, it would be safe to say that it would 'comfortably' make the 700hp with less stress than the RB30ET engine. My point is that by starting off with a price tag of $4-5k just for sourcing the RB26DETT without even opening it up to strengthen it with forged pistons, etc already extends the budget to your quoted $20k, whereas, ~350rwkw can be produced with the standard spec RB30ET bottom end (with de-comp plate : proof - my friend's engine which has also run a 10.7 with standard EC and micro-fueller) for a much less price tag including a programmable ECU. how do u figure that a 700hp RB30/25DET engine will cost the same ($15-20k) as a 700hp RB26DETT? I'm pretty sure the RB26DETT package will cost much more than an RB30/25DET package when starting from scratch (i.e., forged build, including turbo, ECU, manifolds, etc, etc). the difference in price would be the price you pay to buy the RB26DETT engine in the first place, where the rest of the mods will be the same for both engines. that's my opinon anyway.

meggala, "the rb 26 is the most cost effective way to get your car into the tens and yes it will cost quite a bit but its doable" RB26 and cost-effective don't go together. you'll be looking at $4-5k alone just to get a long motor plus anything else you would want to do to the engine along with bolt-ons. slo-32, the RB20DET is a very good engine when it comes to strength and durability although it wouldn't be the best alternative if you want a streetable '10sec R32' as they aren't the torquiest of engines. you would be much better off if you went for an RB30/25DET hybrid, it would be a larger capacity engine which will give heaps more usable torque and power, which is perfect for a street car. Also, it'll cost you less than sourcing a RB26DETT engine along with the associated work fo sprucing itup for 10's. good luck.

i'd go the Apexi Power-FC, straight plugin and you don't have to muck around with base idles, cold starts, etc.

the point we are trying to make here is that running the standard turbo on high boost with the standard intercooler is an in-efficient package where much more gain can be achieved by running a FMIC and at lower boost. As sydneykid said, the standard turbo has a ceramic turbine wheel which can't hold very much heat for long periods of time, therefore, running the standard turbo in it's in-efficiency range would allow it to push a larger volume of air although at a very high temperature, and given that the factory intercooler is not good enough to cool that hot air, you're not doing the engine a favour. Also, if u can't hear it ping (even at 20psi), it doesn't mean it's not doing damage. found this out through personal experience. always make sure there is enough fuel supply and appropriate octane fuel is being used when running hi boost.

just run no hose ;-)

FS HKS GT3035 turbo with HKS....

i don't know that HKS have a GT3035 in their GT30 series. -
KILLER-T, how much power are u looking for out of your engine?
-
INASNT, given that they flow 370cc/min each at 100% duty cycle, i calculate that they should be good for a total maximum of approx. 440hp or 330kw (flywheel) which would give you your 250rwkw. Although, of course, i'm not too sure if the OE fuel pump can keep up with the fuel flow needed for this power, but yes, a hi-rise fuel press. reg. would definitely help.
-
if the engine is well tuned and your setup is efficient, you should be able to run 1-1.2bar all day, every day on Synergy 8000. btw, what is the price of Synergy 8000 in melb. these days? I've been away from home for the last 5 weeks.
-
rev210, correct, i forgot to mention that these power levels rated at 1bar are also dependant on a high volumetric engine efficiency.
-
rev210, i assumed that , although i'd still like to know what formula he used to get the 420 flywheel hp from the 335rwhp (250kw) what is the usual drive train loss?
