Want to buy that spoiler off him before he wrecks it.

Looks like my aircon compressor is on the way out. I'm guessing standard R32 GTS unit, but are there any alternatives? I have an S13 CA18DET A/C compressor in the shed, will that fit?

I've seen in a few places that the passenger side always breaks. Mine is is still intact. Is there anything I should be doing to keep it that way? The dash is starting to bulge a little along the top edge right now. Is that how it starts?

I like to keep it in good condition. It's a rare car over here, and the SE-4s are, I'm told, rare even in NZ. Another parcel from Nengun arrived this week. Even with the postage from literally the other side of the world, it's still just over half the price, and faster, than getting one locally. I swear I actually fitted it and didn't photoshop it in. Need to clean my engine bay. I bought the kit for the R32 GTSt and it almost fits. The single L shaped bracket they provided isn't the right shape, but it bends into the right shape as you tighten up the screw. Probably won't fit an RWD ceffy though, I dunno. Going to get the valeter around for another good clean and a new coat of wax, now that most of the winter salt is gone.

I love the sleeperness as the local police around my way have takes to harassing drivers of all modified cars, mainly because we used to get hundreds of them, usually in horrible little Ford Fiestas and their ilk with fibreglass bodykits and sound systems that can compete with the local nightclubs. Likewise, the drivers of these horrible things don't try to encourage me to race them at the lights like they did when I had the Subaru. It's a nightmare trying to get insurance quotes though, the number of times I've been told "Are you sure you don't mean a Vauxhall (Holden) Zafira?" is driving me mad! That said, my current insurer is charging me the same rates as a J30 Maxima and £1200 less than an R32 GTS4 would be!

Not sure if these recent pics count as "tough" or not, due to the language difference, but what the hell, I'll post them anyway That last one is also a link to my GF's Flickr account, it's mainly pictures of the local scenery in the snow, which was the reason for going out in the snow in the Cefiro in the first place. She gets to take nice pictures and I get to play about in the snow.

Finally some more pics from the Brecon trip on Friday: March Falls Pontsticill Reservoir What 5 minutes of snowfall did, while we were taking pictures of the waterfall. More on my GF's Flickr and a second batch of pictures to come later. The Cefiro really is awesome!

I realise it's summer over in Australia, but here in Old South Wales we have lots of snow. Having gotten a decent set of winter tyres (Nokian WR-G2) this of course meant we had to go up to the Brecon Beacons with the camera since my GF is into photography. She's still processing most of the, but got a couple of pics of the Cefiro out in a proper snowfall. Last year it was crap in the snow, but these tyres have made all the difference In the second one, the snow is only so low because I'm on my way back and have already flattened it. Had a few rather surprised looks from 4x4 drivers. At one point I parked it up in a snowbank (formerly a layby) to help push some bloke in a Pug 306 around a corner with a slight incline. A 4x4 stopped as well to help push, then offered to tow me out of that snowbank, to which I'm all "nah, it's fine mate" and just drove out leaving him standing in the middle of the road gawping. I guess it's because Cefiros are unknown here, and to just look at one you'd think it was a big American RWD barge. Of course, once I was back on the main roads, which were now compacted ice, I ended up getting tailgated by a tourist in a BMW X5.

I killed the speed limiter when I fitted my Apexi MultiChecker, you cut the wire and solder the ends to two different wires on the MultiChecker. I think it starts lying to the ECU once you get above a certain speed, so that HICAS and automatic gearboxes can still work normally. Probably overkill if you don't want a MultiChecker for other purposes, but another option to consider.

Oh bloody hell. Someone broke into my first car, and old Ford Escort, like that, and made a right mess. Does the actual door locking mechanism still work even though the barrel is knackered? If so another option would be to fill the hole with fibreglass or something, paint over it and rely on an alarm with remote central locking to get in and out. The downside to doing this on a Cef would be you'd have to leave the boot with it's lock still there, and unlike on my Escort where I then just climbed through the rear hatch to unlock the doors from the inside, you'd have to extend the lock/unlock button to a button hidden somewhere in the boot.

It's not a flare gun, it's just a road flare, pretty sure it's a legal requirement to carry one in Japan. Not sure about Australia, but when they're imported into the UK, Customs are supposed to remove them when they inspect the car. No idea about the leg pad thingies. I'd imagine they're just to rest your knee on, but were designed for tiny Japanese salaryman rather than a hulking great Australian.

The line from the back of the manifold isn't there, but the thing it attaches to on the manifold is still present, it just has a little cover clamped onto it, at least mine did. I just removed that cover and attached the boost gauge directly to it. Worked fine.

Engine:rb20det Mods:3" decat turbo-back, 225/55/16 wheels, 0.8bar boost thanks to exhaust Manual or auto:auto O2 sensor changed since car was owned : yes. Made no difference. diff ratio: no idea kms: 400 when standard, still 400 after mods. 22mpg. No idea what that is in metric.

Pretty sure it says in this very thread that if you just plug it in, it will burn out the original unit.

If I ever got the opportunity to respray mine, it would be Midnight Purple

It's not something stupid like the pedal from a VW Golf R32 is it?

Idle at cold is more like 35psi. Once warm it drops to around 20. Actually driving it's around 65psi

So I've just installed a sandwich plate with pressure and temperature sensors. I have a temperature gauge and I'm using the Defi VSD thing to view the pressure. Ultimately I plan to configure the Defi link controller as an idiot light for oil pressure and was advised (by a CA18DET owner) that the engine should idle at around 30 psi and I should set the warning to about 20 or 25. However mine is idling at more like 20, it briefly dropped as low as 16 when the engine was running like a bag of crap due to me forgetting to reattach the boost sensor hose. Is this normal, and what should I set the warning light to? I'm running 10w50 fully synthetic Silkolene Pro S if it makes a difference.

Eoi Perth (or Possible Interstate Post)
Lum replied to Mr Eps's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
That's what I did. Something made a cracking noise and the thing wouldn't move. Anyway, cancel my request. My GF has just lost her job, so the Cef is going off road for a bit. Her S13 is 3 times cheaper to run due to the LPG conversion and I have a company diesel Mondeo -

If he wanted the cornering lamps. I'd be interested in the sidelight/indicator units, if you're prepared to post them to the UK. One of mine is cracked and the other I think I managed to break something trying to remove it. -
Meercat Double gauge pod for the A31 arrived today from Australia Got a defi link temperature gauge on order from Nengun in Japan, going to just use the warning lights on the Defi VSD for oil pressure as I have a spare sensor already.

My fault, not theirs. Sent my enquiry from an invalid email address so they couldn't reply. Got their double gauge pod on order now.

Ok it's going in for a new exhaust on thursday, 3" turbo back system, decat with a couple of silencers to keep the police happy and the chavs away. One thing I'm concerned about though is this exhaust will apparently raise the boost and I don't yet have any other supporting mods in place. Bear with me here, because it will soon become apparent that I don't know much about wastegates. I'm looking at one of the Gizzmo EBCs because they're about £170 and seem to get decent reviews, however my understanding of this is that all they do is interfere with the pressure going into the wastegate actuator and thus can make it "see" a lower pressure than it's really getting, so you can be making, say, 14psi but the actuator only sees 9 and thus doesn't open the wastegate yet. As a result of this you can only raise boost, not lower it. I'd like to be able to lower the boost to standard, or maybe even lower (for when I have to give the car to a garage to drive). It looks like there's no way I can achieve zero boost but from the sounds of things what I want is the RB25 actuator on my RB20 turbo and then an EBC to bring it back up again when the time is right. Can anyone who understands these things better than me (ie. most of you) tell me the pros and cons of this setup and if there's a better way to do it?

Thanks. Next job is the little stick on chrome strips on the windguards is falling or has fallen off. Need to find a local signwriter to get new ones made.
