  1. thank you! i also bvelieve hsd is more tried than meisterR.. doesnt mean meisterR is bad tho..
  2. What's your thought on these coilover: MeisterR Vs. HSD coilover ? MeisterR : http://www.meisterr.co.uk/products/zeta-r/ HSD: http://www.driftworks.com/hsd-coilovers-nissan-skyline-dualtech-monopro-r32-r33-r34-r35.html or any other option in the same range of price ?
  3. It appears my gt2860-5 are still fine.. so theres no need to upgrade yet.. I will let someone else be the piguea pig
  4. Yes sir! I'M tempting to do it.. however, im waiting on the verdict of my mechanic as to either or not, my turbo are at fault.
  5. per.. bran dnew gt2860 goes for about 1000us so they ask about 250$ premium to have it installed. ( considering kando wheels is 150us , its like asking 100$ to have it installed).
  6. Possible,, i found very little info about these.. at least, mounted on RBs. I'm REALLY leaning toward the turbos direct billet upgrade.
  7. Oh thanks, I will look into it. Turbodirect returned my PM and said it was 1250$us for the wheel fitted to a brand new gt2860. Not a bad considering the labour needed to fit the Kando wheels will most likely be around 200$ too. Another option... Anyone heard of COMP turbos and their triplex ball bearing ? They ask 1200$ per turbo. http://compturbo.com/products/turbos/ct2turbo/billet/ct2-4747 Here's their reply when asked for a gt2860 replacement : Option 1 CT2 Billet 47/60 / Turbine wheel 53.90 choice of .64 or .86 Turbine housing -Triple ceramic ball bearing -15% More air flow due to billet -fully rebuild able and upgradeable --Lightweight turbine wheel -1 year warranty Price: 1199.00 Option 2 CT2 51/68 Turbine wheel 53.90 choice of .64 or .86 Turbine housing -Triple ceramic ball bearing -fully rebuild able and upgradeable -Lightweight turbine wheel -1 year warranty Price: 1199.00 hank you for inquiry on our turbochargers. We do offer a Direct replacement for a GT2860 We offer it in both 360 Thrust bearing or our triplex ceramic ball bearing option. Compressor wheel we offer both billet and cast. All of our gt28 direct replacement are offered with lightweight turbine wheel to reduce turbo lag.
  8. OD buy their turbos from FP.. so from my understanding they are the same. And your right, the stroker engine can take the bigger wheels just fine. but on my RB26, its not ideal if i want to give any spool form my actual setup -5 ( i sometimes miss the response of the my gt-ss lol). I gotta look more into those 2 differents compressor wheels from turbo direct and kinuwaga. at 60mm, they could maybe match closely the performance of the gtx2860
  9. Basicly both option I showed feature a 'drop-in'' billet wheel. Difference being one is from kinuwaga and one from turbodirect ( My gut feeling tells me I have more trust in turbodirect a direct dealer of garrett than a chinese knock-off)
  10. I only found one person who had bought a pair of these owen's turbo and I asked him: My PM: hey man, your hta2868 was on a rb26 motor or a rb28 ? any update on how wellook ey are holding ? I'M seriously considering doing it. spool like -5 or slightly different ? His answer: I have test them on both 2.8 and now are running on 2.6 They spool up almost like -5 power wise a bit more than -5 a bit less than -10 on 2.8 they dont have any surge on 2.6 they do have just a bit. I think the best thing on this upgrade was the metal cage bearings other than that for the extra money vs power gains not worthed. Eftychios Also.. have a look at forcedperformance's website : http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=FP&Category_Code=Turbo-Upgrade they ask 700$ us for the mod.. while Owen ask ALMOST DOUBLE ( and I suspect he buy these turbos from FP directly.. so why pay double for owen dev ?) Borderline.. I thought for an extra 1500$ish, it wasn't worth it to upgrade to HTA68 because they spool a tad slower than -5s and propably will only make 20-30whp more.. I asked FP if they would be interesting or thought about offering a smaller version like a HTA63mm and they said they dont have any future plan to go any smaller than 68mm. That why I stopped looking any further in this HTA68 mods. ( on a rb28, it could be worth it, but i dont think its worth the hassle on a rb26)
  11. So i was looking at some gt2860 upgrade turbo and saw 2 interesting turbos. One, kinuwaga billet wheels ''drop-in'' for gt2860-5. you can found them on ebay. they are 150$ each. I'm unsure if they would provide any gain since they don't seems to have been benchtested in any sort and have a hard time seeing a review of these on the internet.. second, which look like a better option IMO : Have a read at this description : http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=7547&Car_Type=300&UID=20140704203820173.176.17.2 and here's the turbo I'M talking about: http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=14599&Car_Type=300&UID=20140704203820173.176.17.2 Basicly, it's a ''gtx'' turbo but made to bolt-on to the RB26. we all know the gtx2860 or even gtx2863 can provide great gain but are a pain to fit and needs lots of custom piping. this turbo will allow you to maintain all your actual piping in place. The only drawback is that we're not getting the anti-shuffle slot like on the gtx. but they still claim an extra 10% in power compared to the stock gt2860, just like the gtx. Any thought ? I'm really considering this upgrade to be honest.
  12. Okay I will, and yes i was thinking 8374...BUT i just got news that my next 2 years in school will cost me 6k /year ( no more scholarship) so.. i rather be wise and replace my possible dying gt2860 instead of putting another 6k ish in the car.
  13. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Billet-Turbo-Compressor-Wheel-Garrett-GT2860RS-47-1-60-1-Trim-62-11-0-Blade-/181447604155?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a3f1eb7bb&vxp=mtr I'm wondering... would they be worth the upgrade to oem wheels or... they might end up be worst than oem garrett because the lab test behind these billet wheels are nothing compared to the R&D put by garrett back then ? I believe my turbo are dying so either i rebuilt them with these wheels or buy new one.
  14. For downtown driving. both my friend and I think our IAC valve might need a ''re-seal'' and could be the reason why it want to die form times to times.
  15. well.. this is already done im afraid.. os giken TS clutch with the flywheel. And thanks for confirming what I thought lol.. I'm not reving enough. will try next time I go to the dragstrip, I must say tho that I didn't had my 4wd working last time so i wanted to minimise the wheelspin, actually. Maybe I was doing it wrong.
  16. ^^ his doesnt drop at all. but he does launch it higher than i do , I will try going a bit higher in the rev range then.
  17. Just trying to figured out if my RPM dropping problem is ''normal'' due to having a modded skyline gtr or this could be due to a vacuum leak somewhere. Basicly what happens is when i lift off the clutch on a stop, the rpm usually wants to drop by about 500 rpms. So I usually end up ''sliding'' the clutch to minimise the rpm drop or else the car might just stall. The problem is even worst when i try launching at 4-5k. as soon as i lift the clutch, the rpm goes down to like 1.5k. Is this normal or I'm having a problem ? For reference, I'm running on map with one atmo blitz bov ( i guess this could be my problem ?).
  18. Just wondering if these manifold in twin scroll are quality product ? My mechanic told me to stay away from Rawbrokerage because he saw too many cracking. He recommand 6boost (1600us) or Full-race ( 1800ish us) + shipping ( figure another 50-75us$) While the 6boost is 1360us delivered. Is there any other manifold option for an EFR single ?
  19. So which one should provide a better spool the IWG 0.92 or the EWG 1.05 ? or wastegate don't really affect spool up, only boost control ?
  20. I second lol !! However, my next purchase is planned within the month ( depending if my turbos are actually shot or not)
  21. thats way better than a pair of gt2860 that come on hard at 4k.
  22. Okay was just trying to make a comparaison with a RB26 actually lol.. My mechanic is convincing me to go single and thinking about a 83/74 0.83 or 0.92 IWG. or maybe the 76/70 for awsome spool. although i think i read geoff saying the 76/70 is a tad too small for rb26. If only I had a rb28 choice would be easier lol, it seems like the rb26 is torn between the max limit of the 76/70 and the 83/74. My mechanic also told me that he only installed one EFR turbo but this one was IWG and had boost control problem. So, are the IWG great option on RB26 or really the EWG is better idea?
  23. yup tomei's one. I will be bringing the car at the shop next year but i wanted to do some backyard testing to have a ''feel'' of whats going on with my car.
  24. can we compare this figure to a rb25 ?
  25. we used eyeball since we were in a driveway. while the exhaust was 100% spot on, the intake was a bit off.
