  1. Looking for a gtx conversion so I need front/rear housing garrett gt2860. please send a PM so I can get the notice!
  2. This is what I though too, but since I have high regards for my mechanic and some drift driver sponsored/great deal by PTE use his mechanic service so I thought his opinion about PTE turbos should be right. so MAYBE... journal bearing improved a lot in the last few years... I don't know lol.. this got me confused, but tbh, if I'm going to pay 2000$ for a PTE DBB, I might as wel bite the bullet on the efr I think
  3. Was leaning toward the EFR 83/74.. but my mechanic told me th journal bearing shouldn't be any laggier/sluggish than the same turbo with DBB. what,s your take on this for a 6262 ? With the journal worth 1100$, its a 1100$ +tax/duties saving over an EFR, it's worth considering haha
  4. I will! I also sent email to both raw brokerage and fullrace.
  5. PTE just upgraded their 6266 with their gen2 billet wheel and the turbo is now rated 800hp.. Personally, I prefer PTE because raw manifold dont need relocation and cost about 500$ less than the EFR kit. However I heard great thing about the transient response of the EFR lines so I'm ready to shed more money if it's THE turbo to buy. Goal: Quickest spool for a RB26 driven mainly downtown. Power: AT LEAST similar to a properly -5s setup (575-600whp), but ideally, 600-650whp. No need for +700whp really... I mean, if both turbos could end up with 675whp, I will take it.. but as long as I have about 600whp, I wish to have the quickest one. I got all the other supportive mods
  6. Agree, but at the end, either is engine response or turbo response, your but/head will still feel its a bit more responsive than it was To be honest, I'm looking at different turbos option but to quote my supra friend '' damnnn can't believe the cost of a single conversion on your RB is 3x more expensive than on my 2jz'' So, as much as new gen2 billet wheels from Precision or EFR can be good option and yeild better result... for 6-7k, I might as well built a RB28 and keep my -5 ( or have a hta2869 wheel upgrade) and make good power too
  7. hey lithium, found more info from someone mounting them on a rb26.. spool the same or a tad laggier than -5s with a bit more power. Said however, the power gain wasnt worth the cost ( especially if they are bought at owen at 1100 euro/quid. Here in USA, its 600$us.. almost half price!). I then asked FP and said they mainly sell the hta2868 to snowmobile with only 1 turbos.. dont think 1.3l is enought for a 68mm wheels, billet or not lol. Althought tempting, I'm not really aiming for more power but better responce.. if only they had a 63mm ( maybe..) that could be very tempting. My search for an alternative to the expensive gtx is still on
  8. seen this picture before, is it from a for sale thread lmaybe ? Anyways, I bet they are not since I wasnt able to find any info about them on a skyline/rb platform.
  9. serious question.. what do you think would yeild better response on a rb26 with -5s. 1) Carbon driveshaft 2) Upgrade -5s to gtx2860 wheel ?? Pretty much done everything else I could done as far as supporting mod. I could potentielly go with raw brokerage pte 6266 turbo kit but heck thats some massive work..
  10. Beside one result from DrGTR in UK, anyone heard result about the twin application gt2868 ? Some say its the same as the GT2860 turbos but with way more top end. some say, because of the size of the wheel, the truth is that they compare way wore to a gt2871 then a gt2860. And then theres FP sale tech who tells me that : to which I told them about the wheel size and worried about the spool : Like I said before, my goal is to find a twin setup that could spool like -9s while having the -5 power. ( I had both before on the same engine, comparaison was easy)
  11. pretty much in the same situation as OP.. option 1: rebuilt kit for r200 (250$ + was told about 400$ to rebuilt/retight the diff) should be tighter but not overly tight as a Nismo GT. no worries about bolt-on option 2: buy a quaife because maintenance free, less chatter, drive smoothly but would still like to know if it's bolt-on affair. option3: Go for a carbon diff ( most likely used, seen some from 600-1000), heard they were smoother, less maintenance and drive smoother than regular metal lsd.
  12. that's why I was asking. precision state its a replacement to the gt28rs.. so i thought it could maybe be physically identical or very similar
  13. Only 3 post about the 4828 in the whole thread. does that mean they won't fit in a rb26 application ?
  14. I will think about it, but still.. chra = 1200$ shipped x2. worn-out -5 ( maybe 300-400$ for both) + 2x actuator 80$ + 600 machining = 3500$ .might as well consider the efr8374 ( oops I dont want to open a can of worn! sorry)
  15. Okay, I got all excited, just to realise that theres like 600$ of machining involved. A little too rich for my blood then :S
  16. I would like to know how the front compressor housing works for RB26 : Do we have to pick a RB skyline front housing, the chra gtx2860 and the -5 rear housing and it all bolt on ? or does the Front housing is machined to the CHRA and bought like that ? Because I can't seems to find any shop selling gtx2860r with RB style ( only see it advertised on atp for the gtx2863)
  17. How was your responce/threeshold ? what kind of setup did you had before ?
  18. Great, I get it. In this instance, I suspect the Kaaz SuperQ ( http://www.kaazusa.com/superq/), a quaife or the nismo r200 rebuild pack might be logical choice for a daily ride.
  19. Anytime I look for diff info, the same came up : 1.5way good for daily and time attack.. 2way are SH*T, only good for drift. BUUUUTTTT... I was thinking about it... if 2way diff are so bad, then why did the BNR32 ( not sure about the others) came with 2way oem ? Honestly, I never felt my car dangerous to drive/handle... or is that because my diff is worn and not really acting like a true 2way diff ? As you can imagine, I'm on the hunt for a rear differential and was wondering if I could simply buy a 2way instead of sticking to 1.5way ( which are rarer to come by on the used market)
  20. that's what I'm thinking, but you know just like I do, we can't simply add up ( i have 360hp turbos, I'm getting 400hp turbos so obviously, I will be making 80hp more) the number. I hope the gtx2860 can offer me the response of my previous GT-SS while still offering the same power/torque as my current -5s, if its more, then thats just bonus
  21. Piggaz, didn't you already had 63s on a RB28 ?
  22. ahh I thought you were 2.6 not 2.8. I'm only 2.6 so I'm leaning toward the gtx2860 instead, I'm scared to regret my choice tho 1) I asked sky-enginer, a shop in NZ ( i believe..) and they seems to have a bit of experience with the gtx and they said the difference in spool is ''about 200-300rpm'' 2) Then, I asked z1motorsport who make a kit for 300zx with gtx, they're answer was : I would go with the 63 for more power and the lag isn’t that bad. 3) and finally , you, who is posting excellent result from gtx63. This doesnt make the decision really easy lol!!
  23. I get your point, it might feel like it spool earlier because of the huge improvement. I just wish of a turbo that could have the response of the -9 with the power of the -5 lol I feel like 600whp is enought for a street car driving in a city with not so much open space. But you got me really confused now.. I read elsewhere that spool is pretty much the same between all 3 turbos because the wheel was the same ( don't quote me !! cant remember exactly why..) P.S: How much torque improvement did you get ?
  24. Interesting. so I suspect the 2860 are the -9 equivalent and the 63 must be -5s. ( by going with nissanforlife's resume saying the spool was barely better than -5s)
