  1. Didn't a hiclone flatten Darwin??? You can't argue with that sort of powa!!!
  2. I've heard of saoking in diesel, but I seem to remember that you had to be careful how long you soaked it for....... Also soaking in...........molasses [or a water based mixture of] of all things. Apparently this works [i've never tried it] but rumour has it it will eat alloy=====NOTE: This is only a word of mouth method, I've never used it, it may come up on the www.
  3. Use degreaser, it is the best bet. I usually wash my parts in hot soapy water and rinse in clean warm water and dry if I want/need to get the degreaser residue off. Most degreasers are either phenol, TCE, PCE, caustic or more commonly kerosene based. All derivatives are made up of what they call abrasive products - that it, they are not new engine friendly. You can use degreaser as a first clean, but I'd finish with another product that removes degreaser residue. You could use a few products, but water etc is the cheapest. Don't leave any iron/steel exposed for too long though, get it dry and coated with a light oil. BTW I have mates that use degreaser and nothing else, and it works for them, they generally use a light running in oil and then do an oil change early. I wouldn't soak things in degreaser for too long [depending on the degreaser base type], it could affect certain alloys.
  4. If your shaft is moving, then it could be a prob, but you will get movement, both up and down as well as forward and backwards. But the movement is small, a mm or so sideways and less forwards and backwards. This also depends on the type of turbo you have [bearing or journal]. Do a search, I think the movement thing has been done before.
  5. Tear your turbo off and have it checked? I always thought white smoke was water, blue is oil, and black is fuel. So it could be the seal in the turbo, but you won't know till you get it checked out.
  6. All the supporting mods..........but hows your cat? It could be choking either on the intake or exhaust?
  7. Very hard to tell just where parts are made these days!!! Just cos' it has Nike written all over it----------doesn't mean a thing. You can get parts from USA, Phillipines, Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan Thailand and it could have HKS, Blitz, Chev, Holden, Nissan, Toyota, NEC, LG..........you name it on the label. The parent company controls the quality [or attempts to], but that doesn't mean that other manufacturers can't do the same.
  8. AAAhhhh the world is a better place, another threat to society is off the road.................job satisfaction or what??? Meanwhile, somewhere on the planet there is another rape, another assault, another herion deal going down...........but you have to get your priorities sorted, pick on the one person that is the greater danger!!! And they wonder why we reckon most porkers are swine.
  9. ^^^^^ I'm with them, but it could be a fuel pump and wheel bearing????
  10. Avoid working the motor - making it knock - until you get it tuned. And get it tuned soon, summer heat is just around the corner and it will lean the motor out even more.
  11. Anyone??? I wanted to look at a product and couldn't get the ad to come up again????
  12. Too late, I've done it, and can't delete the post.
  13. I'd be in for one next time............
  14. Just got my HKS cast low mount, HKS wastegate and base plate, and my turbo exhaust housing back from Stuart at Procoat. I'd just like to say top service, Stuart was more than willing to talk about the job, kept me informed all the way, all bolt holes and area's that needed masking off were done and the finish is spot on. I also got an SAU discount.........he said he would look after anyone from SAU. I couldn't be more satisfied. I dealt with him via email, post and phone and it was no problem. Thanks Stuart, trader rating left.
  15. People that insist on continuing to do 50 in a 60 zone.
  16. Bigger injectors and a decent pump................you don't need a FPR
  17. Ain't it funny that the stereotypical Ricer is a Leb with gold chains, or a chain smoking Asian, but when we did the poll on SAU the norm was a caucasian white aussie pink neck [we aren't game enough to be red]. The only true reason there are more commonwhore or fordpill rejects out there is cos they are cheap and available with heaps of parts and are a known entity. So if Car'n the Blues ever gets out of his depth with his Kmart spanner set he can call on any garage mate to help him out. If he had to go through the same learning curve and have to rely on the same experts/garages we did he would look like Pumpkin at the railway station.
  18. Why not tap a bigger thread into it and then use and adaptor to sleeve it down??? Just a thought.
  19. Issue: Who's got to be naked? The employer or the employee, this could affect the hourly rate!!!! And how many people would be [volunteer to be] in the window cleaning team vs the skimpy lingerie party being held indoors!!!
  20. I'll do it for nothing, but you'll have to bring them to me cos I only work from home!!!!
  21. Take it out and send it to Olympic Instruments in Pymble Sydney. They will fix it and it will be reasonable cost. When I got my Nismo unit, I had it serviced and the mileage set to my std speedo mileage by these guys. Look 'em up in the phone book and talk to them.
  22. Not sure, probably need more info......... Could be split vac hose, O2 sensor, AFM sensor, TPS etc etc, try cleaning the afm or TPS, do a search on the topic.
  23. I got 240rwkw out of a std [well ADR] cat. I got a BOS, looked at the Metal Cat, but they were approx. $150 dearer. Plus BOS have a very good flow rate. Metal Cat brag that they are all stainless, not sure if BOS are, but probably still last a long time.
  24. Just wondering if there shouldn't be a sponsor thread in the for sale section for the ad banner businesses? A no reply contact details and product/services live link overview one? I did a search and didn't find anything conclusive, maybe I missed it though [and if I did then - considering they are paying good $$$$ - maybe it should be more distinct].
